Cocoa Beach is a Florida city south of Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. It’s a gateway to the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, which has rockets and iconic artifacts. The city is known for its beach and surf breaks. Inside a surf shop, the Florida Surf Museum traces the sport’s local history. Nearby Cocoa Beach Pier has eateries and shops. The maritime forest at oceanfront Lori Wilson Park attracts birdlife.

@@leonardsheatravel yes it gets cold enough to wear a wet suit. Unless you live in Alaska. Go out in(surf) December and tell me it is warm.... and another thing slides and shower shoes......no. Buy yourself some flip flops.

Been there 20 some years ago! Went to the Space Center and didn't realize you needed a pass to go there on a launch day, so I went to Cocoa Beach right by the pier and watched from there ! Amazing. Then I went back to the Space Center when I could go and not need a pass. Now I just hang out in my own neck of the woods, paradise on the Gulf coast !

Well your neck of the woods must be pretty nice. I hope to make my way down your way and spend part or all of the winter walking the beach and getting rid of all the gators in Florida......YIKES! I was in Cocoa Beach as a teenage and remember it like it was yesterday. My first real trip down south and loved it....such an adventure back then. Freezing here today. Staying inside and trying to keep warm. Only 3 more months of winter.......

@@leonardsheatravel well, ya know, a lot of snowbirds come down after Christmas, some wait till after New Years, and then stay a couple months or 3...this way they still get the feel of Christmas with the cold and snow. Or before you grow old and officially retire, just take a leave of absence for a month just to get away, say next January, just to see how it is....or just take a couple weeks off this Feb or March, just to shake the winter doldrums !

Great place: sand, surf n sunshine!!!! ❤️👍. Cocoa Beach got its name after the city Cocoa, which is believed to have got its name because mail was delivered by river boat and used to be placed in a tin box labeled Baker's Cocoa. Cool!😊

I Dream of Jeannie! :) The city should have a statue of Jeannie and her bottle somewhere. That would be so cool, very well deserved, and would be one more added attraction or reason people love Cocoa Beach!. The iconic show has put Cocoa Beach on the map. People all over the world still watch the show today and know about the city because it is the home of Jeannie and Maj. Nelson! Minneapolis has a statue of Mary Tyler Moore (as Mary Richards), Jamestown, NY, has one of Lucille Ball (as Lucy Ricardo), and there is even a statue of Elizabeth Montgomery as Samantha Stephens (from Bewitched) in Salem, MA! I truly hope there is some way the city can make this happen for this iconic character, who continues to bring magic to us all and notoriety to Cocoa Beach, FL!

Let's keep it real... I worked in one of the restaurants right on Cocoa Beach and it doesn't have water this clear and beautiful. The red algae is a real issue and we had customers always complaining about it. It's an ecosystem so it doesn't get cleaned up and cleared out. It's really bad when it's bad, like you won't see anything of danger in the water around you it's so dark brown.
