I just watched the pilot episode and we get a brief glimpse of the first page in the book of shadows and had the name melinda Warren which we know is who the halliwells are descended from so I think they are descended from the original charmed ones. Still not sure how I feel about it yet though

I still don't get why that one guy is supposed to be seen as such an asshole, honestly. He didn't know the professor was guilty (and also a white walker) and for all he knew, he had been cleared of charges. Maybe I missed something, since I'm not a native speaker, but to me it sounded like he was treated as evil for merely implying that that guy could be the victim in that specific case, to the point that not only the demon himself was like "What, this guy's awful", no, the sisters also proceed to mock him by mirroring his words from earlier (sad in a different context, since he actually didn't know better, or at least I saw nothing counterevident) and obviously enjoying his trauma. If this show wasn't about those three girls I would have guessed they were meant to be villains with a "Feminism gone bad"-theme. I haven't seen much of the original show, I have to admit, but what I saw was more feminist than what this first episode seemed to be.

You want to do a Latina/Jamaican witch show? Terrific. Make it about Hispanic/African American magic. Both cultures have rich magical traditions. It would be more authentic and true to those cultures instead of appropriating witchcraft of the style in the original Charmed, which is a British Isles/New England tradition. People constantly criticize Anglos if they appropriate Hispanic culture or cultures not their own in general, so why is it okay for them to appropriate Anglo culture? Bottom line, do your own thing. Make it your own. Start fresh and be original.

CW lost it at the moment they lost Shannon Doharty and decided to keep Alissa Milano . Alissa was easy to replace , Shannen not so much .and Rose Mc Gowen never lived up to the role and never managed to fill up the shoes of shannen . . And right now with the reboot they destroyed any possibility of a 4th adopted sister this time in case it didn,t work out the wya they planed . they are really good at repeating mistakes

Jo-Jo I agree the first few episodes-actually the first part of the season was rough. I was really disappointed and didn’t like the characters or the storyline. I’m a feminist but the feminist stuff was so in your face that even I couldn’t take it seriously. It was trying way too hard and sounded dumb more than ground-breaking. I would put on the show as background noise while busy at home. However, the last half of the season has actually picked up and I started paying more attention. It’s gotten better so I’ll give season 2 a chance. The characters have finally found their footing and the acting has gotten much better.
@MATHÔRN Well, very easy actually. The grandkids are getting the main roles (those kids are adults now!). Than Chris and Wyatt can play the fathers and the women can play the new grams. And yes I know, they are not that old yet to be a grandma, but you can always play an older character than that you are in real live. I know a Belgian actress who played a grandmother when she was only 19, so everything is possible!

I can't watched the reboot of Charmed because it wasn't entertaining and it wasn't funny! Why does CW Network wanted to do the Charmed Reboot. They should leave it alone! Right now, I have been watching Old Sabrina, Teenage Witch, Ghost Whisperer and Old Charmed. Those are the best old shows!! :)
Johnny Nguyen CAOS (Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina) wasn’t bad at all. It was actually really good. And the Charmed Reboot was horrible in the first 3 episodes. But when you watch more I see it more like a different show. That’s why I cringe every time they say “Charmed Ones”.
Your not the only one, it started with 1.5 million views on its first episode. Now it doesn't even brake a million views per episode. I don't understand if this show is doing so bad why did the CW order 22 episodes, it doesn't even break 1 million per episode.

The new cast is so rude to the original Charmed fans. One girl has never even seen the show. That's crazy! Even if she wasn't old enough to watch it she should have for research or something. No respect for the original cast or the fans! I'm so disappointed in the CW. And I've noticed I don't watch anything on the CW.

Holly is right, I don't follow her on twitter or anything but she was a producer who knew what to bring to the original story, a lot of fans I know where disappointed when Prue died in the end of season 3 and when they brought Paige in I wasn't a hundred percent sure the show was gonna continue on, but it did and that's why the reboot will never live up to the original story that is Charmed. If anything else they should take the title of the show and just call it Magic or Witch, something like that.
Not every tv show aimed toward women and girls should have feminist in it. In reboots injecting it tends to mean at some point some one will claim it is better because of representation alone, even if other elements like story or acting fall short.

I'm still watching it to see how it goes. I think how they changed some things were interesting and made it make more sense. However, the political element is starting to get on my nerves, but as well as giving me a new angle on things which is good :) haven't watched the whole 1st season yet but o remain hopeful.
I love it too. And I liked the original as well some people actually need to get over them selves...it may be based on the original charmed but I like to treat it as a totally different show, people need to stop comparing the two and start enjoying the show for what it is. The first few episodes were a little slow but then it really picks up. Last episode even got me crying
Actually Charmed did have a political episode when the dog pooped on the lawn and phoebe was nearly burned at the stake. And lets not forget about Damn the man when the sisters were against the elders.

I watched the episode to see what it was all about. It was honestly cringe at points with the humor and plot pace was insane. They jam packed way too much in one episode. You don’t get to see any progression it’s just literally insta-charmed. It had a few good moments of nostalgia for me but overall unless they do a better job at pacing and allowing things to naturally unfold i don’t think I’ll be watching the next episodes to come

I believe the reboot is a lot less campy than the original which is one of the things I hated about the original. The original Charmed went down hill when two of the actresses began producing the show. That is what ruined the show for me. I love the new Charmed glad it steered away from all the camp after the first few episodes. This show did something the original should have done. It brought in a white lighter who knows enough to actually train the girls instead of okay your witches now just deal with this so they are being schooled. And it's nice that not every character they meet is a love interest. I also like that Harry seems to have more power than Leo and the white lighters on a whole seemed to know more than in the original show. I also like that we are not dealing with a new demon in every show but there is more of an on going story line. Let's learn about Macy's darkness and where it comes from. Lets find out how their mother died and there was a twist on that. Adding what is going on in the world makes it more real to the viewers. There were things I did like about the original Charmed but this new show seemed to fix the things I didn't like about it. I like the mix of other cultures. It's a good thing that Holly and Alyssa don't have say in this show because they ruined the other show with their input. They should stick to acting and let the writers do their jobs. I see the differences as interesting and more adventurous. But maybe I'm alone in this, but I sure hope not. The original had a lot of potential but didn't live up to it. This new show looks like it has it in the bag.
I have to agree with you! When news broke about the reboot I was totally against it and swore I wouldn’t watch to preserve my memory of the O.G show. However I just watched it and kinda love it. They kept the same concept, but also made it their own which was impressive/refreshing. Of course the original Charmed will remain timeless, and who knows this reboot, could expand the fan base.
I think the original charmed was way better than the new one but so far i have only seen the preview. I think it could turn out good but everyone knows they will always love the original charmed. I also really support Holly Marie Combs. I grew up watching charmed and it will always be my favorite one and only tv show.

I agree with Holley Marie Combs... they are just using the title... from what I've seen of the previews, I won't be watching it. If the previews I've seen are anything like the rest of the show... it's about 10% of the original idea and 90% rewriting... and not congruent with the original idea. Don't like the professor replacing whitelighter either... the whitelighter was an integral part of the original show ... professors were in magic school, not a replacement for whitelighter who takes on more roles than just a teacher.. I will check out the show, but if it doesn't prove itself, I won't keep watching.

Actually, one of the actresses is Latin, the other is African American and the the other is African-Caribbean. While still diverse, they still managed to white-wash their character's heritage with that Melinda Warren as their ancestor shout out.

I LOVE the New Charmed I also Love The Original Charmed, Prue was my Favorite Witch and Now Maci Is My New Favorite Witch. The girls are fantastic and I think The cast look excellent together as Sisters you can tell that they get along outside of the camera. The Original Charmed Sisters they weren't getting along outside of the camera and on the camera. Give the show a chance it's different and a new change. and Change is good. Yes, charmed might of been a popular T.V show but I gave the reboot a shot and I found that I am really, really hooked on It and I think other people should give it a chance too
ABC did not cancel the Roseanne show because of different political views, they canceled the show because a lunatic in their upper management decided it was a better move to throw out a conservative actor and cancel a show rather than stand up to the vocal MINORITY who were out crying over a tweet they didn't approve of. ABC executives have even said they reacted too harshly too quickly and it's coming back to bite them. This show is doing nothing but attempting to cash-in on the name of the original. It shares no commonality with the source material, and it a reboot in-name-only. Poorly written, poorly acted, poorly directed, it's hot garbage and if it makes it to the end of one season I'll be amused by that alone.

I am a huge fan of the original Charmed; my local station still shows reruns that I watch in the morning before work. This new show should have been called something else instead of "Charmed". If the characters are all different - including their names - this is NOT the same show anymore. I don't think the chemistry of Piper, Paige, and Phoebe (and even Prue) can ever be re-created. Sounds like a train wreck.

This review really isnt like the show at all. I'm halfway through and it doesn't have a super politic heavy storyline or love triangle. I'm kinda upset that this RU-vid video turned so many people off on the show before even giving it a chance. The acting isnt great, when comparing it to the original charmed it is very diffrent, there is a feminist character and some slightly political dialogue but that aside if you dont look at this show under a microscope it isnt too bad. It's a harmless show that keeps me entertained on my lunch breaks at work and I dont think these actresses and the people that worked on it deserve all the anger and hate. Also as a 20 year old black woman I find the dialogue that brings modern day issues and feminism to the table refreshing to hear on a TV show. Sure none of these problems are discussed too heavily since they probably didnt wanna turned people off to the show but just hearing them being brought up is great to me.
When you think about it a reboot of a successful series is a dumb thing to do. The trick seems to be to reboot things that might have been successful, but weren’t given enough of a chance or were just ahead of their time. For example, the reboot of Star Trek into The Next Generation worked. The reboot of Battlestar Galactica worked. Both of those shows became cult hits after their short lived lives. When you take something that was already extremely popular, that lasted a long time and reboot it, you’re only going to invite comparisons to the original and people are only going to hate it. You also shouldn’t reboot things that are recent enough for many fans to stil love and remember. I.e. don’t reboot the X-Files until most of us are dead. Stop trying to reboot Highlander. You’re only going to piss people off. Look way back. There are tons of westerns that could be rebooted and given the CW young and beautiful people treatment. I.e. turned into half soap opera half whatever. Old science fiction. A reboot of Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea might be interesting. Space Above and Beyond, which was really the Battlestar Galactica reboot, imho. Avoid relatively current popular stuff.
Perfectly put, shows that run for years build up a dedicated following, we 'get' the shows, the characters etc. Some suit somewhere thinks you can just redo the story and have the same result...nope
I just want to say this is not Charmed - Next Generation. This is Charmed Reboot, and they did a good job on reintepreting for this generation. Those who complained seem to be the older audience whom grew up with the 90's version. but think of the new fans growing up in this generation. At least they have something to call their own fav occult series. Don't hate, just think of it as Halliwell sisters in another dimension

Being a big fan of the original series, I was highly skeptical. I gotta say, however, after watching the first 4 episodes, this show is AWESOME! Please give it a chance before condemning it, and I suggest watching 2-3 episodes first to give it a real chance. It's a really great re-imagining with enough similarities to give it familiarity and enough changes to make it new and original.
I liked the original charmed but since seeing the new charmed, I like it so much better. Graphics, story so much better so far and she's wrong cause he is a white lighter. A lot of us old timers don't get into it cause they want it to be like the original so they won't give it a try. This one beats the original.

Charmed had such amazing characters and so many of the actors would love to be part of a reboot. It would have been so much better if they had listened to all the fans and actors and had made a show about the next generation of Halliwells. Instead we are given a show which most of us won't see and which will ultimately destroy our chance of seeing something from the Halliwells ever again!

Umm, the name of the show IS Charmed, it is a reboot. It’s about three sisters supposedly the most powerful witches ever. No one that enjoyed the original will think of it as a new show. Know what would make it a new show? Nothing, because for better or worse it’s tied to the original through nostalgia.

It just didn't have the same touch as old charmed. Everything seemed so bland and fake. The old charmed seemed to have more of a "magical" touch

Not to nag, but the political part of the episode was beyond what I would grant others as opinion. When I first heard people complaining it would be SJW-propaganda, I thought it would be like Jodie Whitaker becoming the Doctor in Doctor Who, a progressive change people didn't like and blamed on political agendas. But the show was downright misandrist. And a bit racist, while we're at it. If it just was a bad show, fine, let it rot or let it be saved by others, if they like it, but if this is going to be the kind of point this show is going to make, it qualifies as hate-mongering.
I was obsessed with Charmed when I was younger I waited 12 years for them to have a reboot and when they finally came out it was this shit Shawty acting the writing is absolute crap the storyline is shit the set is ridiculous I'm so disappointed it's not worthy of the Charmed name and I'm so pissed off that they even did this it would have been okay if it was like maybe a movie or if it had any connection to the original Charmed at all but it would only be okay

And we both agreed it was; rushed, trying too hard to be progressive, floundering with what had to be done in order for the next episode to take place, has little to no character development, and the little character development we get is so forced and just for the sake of the plot, the little characterization we get is a basic movie trope or a rehash of a better character from the original, and the ripoffs of better characters are so horrible I had to question why I cared about any of them at all (I had no idea there was a cop at all in this until much later, while Andy was prominent from the very beginning to be a cop and Prue's love interest), and every interaction between characters is about as entertaining as a dead fish washed up on a lake, and oh, did I mention how rushed it is? In the first episode I believe they take down about 3 demons? And suddenly they all just,,, have most control over their powers? Yeah, this was a huge misstep and I have no idea if they could ever recover from this flop. And I didn't even get to the complaints about plotlines that were usually dealt with later, or whitelighters just,,, casually being mentioned episode 1, and the first big threat they have to deal with right away is usually the big bad they try to work a character up to. It would be like if the original show said "oh hey I'm Leo, I guard you, and uhhh one day you will defeat an enemy more powerful then the Charmed Ones. Okay let's hop to it." Oh yeah, and there's complete tone whiplash every 4 seconds when there isn't a fight scene. Opps.
Oh no a reboot. I bet none of you like Buffy the TV series only the original movie of course. I grew up with the original charmed it was good but I don't want to watch it again. Im disappointed in the Older Actresses not supporting these younger actresses.
Big Charmed Fan...loved the original Charmed...the reboot started weak but slowly starting to enjoy the plots. It be great to have the Halliwell Sisters in the mix.
Unpopular opinion.... I LOVED the original and the reboot was really ok! It started a bit lame but it soon became very exciting to me after a short time. Sometimes people just really need to let it go and give things a chance.
Too bad so sad the charmed reboot got a second season and there is nothing we can do about it so just deal with it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
