10 Reasons Why You Should Avoid The 2023 Mazda CX-30!
Attention car enthusiasts! Are you in the market for a new ride? Well, hold on to your seats because today we're taking a closer look at the 2023 Mazda CX-30.
Now, you may have heard all the buzz about this hot new SUV. But before you rush out to buy one, there are a few things you need to know.
In this video, we're going to give you not one, not two, but ten reasons why you should avoid the 2023 Mazda CX-30! So, buckle up and get ready for a wild ride as we dive into the top reasons why this car might not be the right choice for you.
#1. The Electronic Nannies Can’t Be Turned Off
We all know that safety is important when it comes to our cars. And Mazda's i-Activ system certainly prioritizes safety, which is great... but sometimes we want a little more control over our driving experience, right?
Unfortunately, one of the downsides of this system is that you can't turn off the electronic nannies, including traction control. Now, while this feature may be helpful in some situations, like getting unstuck in the snow, it can also be a bit frustrating for those of us who like to have more control over our driving experience.
So, if you're someone who values a hands-on approach to driving, you might want to think twice about the 2023 Mazda CX-30.
#2. The CX-30 Is Not Your Best Bet For Driving In Winter
While the 2023 Mazda CX-30 may handle winter conditions fairly well, there are a few concerns you should be aware of.
First off, snow can easily build up in front of the headlights due to the chrome trim that extends beneath them. This means you'll have to clear that area more frequently to make sure other drivers can see you coming.
And speaking of visibility, the rear window isn't particularly large, which could make it difficult to see in certain situations.
But that's not all - the whole liftgate can get dirty pretty quickly, so you'll have to use more washer fluid than usual. And if the windshield washer fluid indicator lights up on the dashboard, you'll need to fill up the tank ASAP.
But perhaps the most concerning issue in the winter is de-icing the windows. When temperatures dip below minus 20 degrees, the windshield wipers can freeze up and ice can build up in the lower corners of the glass.
In such situations, you might have to turn your CX-30 into a sauna as you'll need to crank up the cabin's temperature and ventilation to deal with it.
#3. Poor Infotainment UX
We all know that a good infotainment system is key to an enjoyable driving experience, right? Unfortunately, the 2023 Mazda CX-30 falls a bit short in this department. While it's a generally good car, the infotainment system can be a real headache.
The problem lies in Mazda's choice to have a center-stack infotainment screen that is non-touch, and can only be controlled via a knob and buttons. This can be quite frustrating, especially for those who are used to touchscreen interfaces.
And things only get more awkward when you're trying to use Android Auto or Apple CarPlay, which were designed to be used with a touchscreen interface.
While the screen is wide enough, it would have been better if it were taller and squarer, as the current letterbox shape is less useful for looking at sat-nav maps that require bigger screens.
#4. Poor Rear View Visibility
Visibility is actually not the forte of the CX-30, and the design makes sure of this. From the driver's seat, visibility can be quite limited, particularly in the rear.
Sure the backup camera does provide some assistance, but it's not a miracle worker. The small rear windows and relatively small rear screen can make it difficult to see what's behind you, limiting your view rearwards and over your shoulder.
#5. Cramped Interior
While the CX-30 may have decent space up front, the backseat is another story. Adult passengers, especially those on the taller side, will find themselves feeling pretty cramped with little leg or headroom to speak of. This can make long journeys quite uncomfortable. And don’t even think about installing a larger car seat because that will be a struggle.
The CX-30 also has a fairly small trunk compared to its competitors, meaning that families who need to carry large baby seats and a bunch of stuff will find themselves in a bit of a pickle. Only six carry-on suitcases can be squeezed into the rear cargo area, which isn't ideal if you're planning a weekend trip or a family vacation.
Getting in and out of the backseat of the CX-30 isn't ideal either. With its small rear doors and narrow gap, it’s tricky for passengers to enter and exit. Rear passengers will also have to contend with a floor hump and a lack of elbow room, which can be uncomfortable on long journeys.
Check out why we recommend the 2023 Mazda 3 instead: • This Is How The New 20...

I would think the downside is the penny pinching by Mazda for small features. It was my only consideration until the Trax came out and offered heated steering wheel, seats, leatherette, upgraded audio, upgraded infotainment, black wheels, led headlights, and more space for less. If Mazda offered the same features for just 2k more that would be different, but it's like $5k for most of them, which just pisses me off

I'm just pissed they nickel and dime you for literally every feature. They don't even upgrade the sound until about $34k and that's where the price difference between it and the CX50 is gone. I like the car better, but I can get the heated steering wheel, heated seats, upgraded audio, larger interior, and LED headlamps for under $27k on the Trax. While AWD is nice, I'm not in an area that experiences a lot of snow. Mazda dealerships also felt a bit gross by comparison, which is a shame because it was my 1st and only consideration until the Trax came out

All of those 10 reasons are minor drawbacks and somehow funny i must say compared to the quality of this car. As far as the oil consumption concerns, if you live outside US and you buy an atmospheric engine its the best choice for reliability over time. I have mine cx 30 for 2 years and it never loose even a mm of oil! For me its a fantastic premioum quality car and with no competitors at its price and especially at the first edition it has more than everything you want. I must say that the info screen was designed intentionally by MAzda so that you want distract your attention while driving and trying to touch the screen with your hands. One of the reasons i choose this car was also this feature! Same for the aircondition buttons. Safety for MAzda is a priority compared to other competitors who they are more interested to impress the customers with touch screen etc....In real, everyday driving touch screens are more dangerous and difficult to operate, especially when a car has no buttons for the air condition.

@DroneStrike1776 10 месяцев назад
You missed the entire point of the CX-30, it's not really a CUV, it's more like what Honda did with the Accord Crosstour or Subaru Outback. The ground clearance is good for uneven roads, potholes, speed bumps, snow, fire trails, or unpaved roads where you might worry about bottoming out the car. With all the road work going on around the nation, especially in New England a CX-30 might be a good option for a young family who wants a compact car. If that visibility is bad, then you shouldn't be driving. I drive a Mazda3 hatchback and it has poor visibility to some, but it doesn't bother me. There side view mirrors are large, the back up cam is crystal clear, there's blind spot warnings and an instrument display of a car next to you. The ride is not as brutal as you say it is, it's a lot better than Subaru that's in it's class. CX-30 is a niche market kind of car, it's not made to appeal to everyone, just like my Mazda3. Not everyone wants a compact AWD hatchback with sporty characteristics, but I'm glad they built one for those of us who wants one.

Strange… had this in Florida. Loved it. Drove it up to Buffalo. -only time I wasn’t thrilled to be in the car. As for “control” -I’ve never driven a car that understood exactly what to do and where to go effortlessly like the Cx30. Nimble, athletic, visually striking, and an overall damn near perfect machine. The backseat being a little small aside, once we threw winter tires on the car, it became a winter enthusiasts dream. I have no idea what possible drawbacks you can say this car has. The fact that it does everything you want out of the box with no additional tinkering (and better than anything else in the price range and 30k plus above it) is reason enough to not hate it. I never once see another vehicle no matter the make and model and feel like what I’m driving is inferior in any way. In fact, I almost feel sorry for anyone NOT driving a Mazda these days, simply because their whole claim to fame is HOW the car drives. I have no idea how anyone who actually drives one can think you’ll find a more athletic and responsive machine. The MPG is in my honest opinion, the only drawback, and with what it is, I see no reason why Mazda doesn’t perfect the rotary and stick it back in a Supra competitor.

I've owned a '22 CX-30 for a year now, don't let this guy steer you away from it. Its a great car and I have zero qualms about buying it at MSRP. I'll drive this thing until it explodes in a few hundred thousand miles. Rear visibility is fine, the infotainment system works 100x better than a touch screen, and there is plenty of space. The infotainment is useable without even looking at the screen, and is legitimately astronomically safer than a touch screen. Interior isn't cramped at all. This dude is just overly nitpicking the vehicle or some reason.

tbh the only reason that kinda gets me worried out of all of them in the video is the headlights one, snow build up would def look concerning on paper, but I haven't purchased one so Im not quite sure if its really that big of a deal, and for the leg room issue, I already knew it would be small, and plus I just use it for going to college out of the city, so I wouldn't really worry that much, not planning on buying one for family car anyway

Routine oil changes every 6,000 miles and it has been a God send. Gas mileage still holding strong at 32 mpg on average. Honestly cannot relate to what is noted in this post and I live in Upstate NY where winters are as bad as any in the country. This car is rock solid in the snow. The only reason on here that would be a concern is the oil consumption. I’d have to look into that. The biggest contradiction here is the supposed sluggish acceleration and then the picture of the turbo engine that propels this car to 60 in under 6 seconds. Lol. I drove this back to back with the CX5 and yes it’s obviously smaller. I’m 6’3 and found both driving positions very comfortable. The most remarkable difference is in the handling and fun factor. The CX30 was so much better driving it wasn’t even close. Acceleration was effortless with the turbo too. The only concern I have is the sacrifice of some utility. I look at this car as a good mix of sporty and SUV. It’s very quick and nimble but you also have AWD and decent ground clearance for any season. As far as visibility I really didn’t notice anything worse with the CX30 over the CX5. I think this video is more about nitpicking and opinions than anything else.

We bought at 2023 CX-30 Carbon Edition. The Infotainment system is fantastic. I prefer the dials and buttons vs. touch screen now. When you rest or your arm on the center arm rest, your hand falls naturally to the LCD control dials and buttons. I can zip through the Mazda menus and AppleCar Play faster than our Honda Pilot's touch screen. So easy to learn and get used to. Took about 10 minutes to figure this thing out. Took about a week to really get used to it when driving. Now I absolutely hate having to lean forward and LOOK at an LCD touch screen to navigate it's features when I'm driving. ...Touching screens are highly unnerving now... The smaller infotainment screen in elevated and in perfect position in relation to the window - It's practically a heads-up display. I can easily see the road in front me with my peripheral vision when glancing at the display. I don't want a giant distracting LCD display buried below the top of the dashboard that controls every aspect of the car. I'm not watching a map much less watching a movie when I drive. Winter driving is a non-issue. Snow doesn't build-up in front the headlights. What a dumb comment. review view visibility is not an issue when back up, or changing lanes. Plenty of visibility all around. The interior is snug, but it's not a "family vacation hauler" type of car - it's small. We do use it to run the family around town - and it's good little grocery getter. For the front passengers there's plenty of room unless your 6' 5"... You can actually get this car without a Turbo, so if there's a claimed oil issue with the Turbo Engine (never heard such a thing), there are other options. ...We don't have a Turbo engine. The 2.5L normal engine is fantastic. Love the body cladding - especially when driving my canoe to remote lakes down two tracks and gravel roads. So the cladding is actually (gasp) functional. The CX-30 handles rough roads beautifully - see comment above. ...have you guys actually driven this car? FFS! This car is fantastically stable and nimble when needing to accelerate to passing speeds of 80+ mph - even with the normal (non-turbo) engine. Seriously. Have you guys even driven this car? If people want a solid review of the CX-30 - here you go.... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-SVcSvHcAS8c.html

I totally agree with a person down in the comments area that these 10 "reasons" are just minor cons of this car. Extra oil consumption is not based on facts and allegedly just a report of a few drivers (where? how many? etc). I agree though with the limited visibility and cladding points you raised. These are valid points. The rest are just nit picking. Last point of " poor stability" - what does it even mean? Being firm and unstable on the road are two different things. It is like comparing a car with coilovers and the car without an antiroll bar. All Mazdas are generally on the firm side. This has been since Ford owned Mazda. I own 2 Mazdas and they are both on a firm side comparing to competition. That is what I like and it is a matter of choice. Also, safety packages are designed for general masses who do not even know what stability or traction control is. So even if Mazda added a feature where you could switch it off - the vast majority of people will never touch this button. What people care about is reliability, looks and tech. I would add by saying that tech is where Mazda is slightly behind. For example infotainment system and all of it`s downfalls. Reliability and looks - Mazda nailed it.

I got out to add gas after turning the car off and the gas door would not open. I got online to see if this was an ongoing problem and I could find 3-5 entries complaining of this issue. The fix was to wait it out. I drove to the dealership and when I got there I checked the door before checking in and it was working.
