I agree about the Hamato backstory, my first introduction was the '87 cartoon so i was surprised to find out that the original Mirage comics had Splinter being a pet rat instead of Hamato Yoshi. I think having Splinter start as human and then get mutated into a rat is the stronger story arc for sure. Thats also why I like Splinter's depiction in Rise, they even added an additional human backstory to him with the Lou Jitsu origin. Great stuff
I really like these rules but I make an exception of no 5th turtle for Jennika. I enjoyed her roll and story and I have been enjoying what they been doing with Lita. I don't mind some DEI in the turtles if its done right and doesn't sacrifice something from the core of what makes TMNT. I'd rather them add new characters then change key characteristics of existing characters
I mean sure the point of TMNT isn’t necessarily about prejudice but if it’s about mutant turtles who become ninjas so they can hide from society, that doesn’t seem like a prejudice allegory? It’s not the whole point of the series but there have been times it’s been tackled, like either Mutant Mayhem or Fast Forward where aliens live on earth so the Turtles don’t need to hide.

Me too. The Turtles are part human seeking out the human experience, and while having a line of love interests for them would be unrealistic while keeping to the source material, no one bats an eye when characters like Robin and Starfire form a romance. They are two completely different species from one another, yet, in some universes, they are cannon and produce a child. So, I agree. It's only weird with the implication of sex, I think. But they're teenagers anyway, and anything spannout out beyond those years is usually darker. So, it would be implied if they somehow had lives off-screen or off the record, then it's open for interpretation.
@elisabethpuck interesting that you mentioned Robin and Starfire cause 2012 Raphael had a similar situation. Like, Mona Lisa is an alien salamander and nobody complained about that and told Raph should only date a female turtle. And they also got some adult jokes too like when Mona obviously was drooling when daydreaming about Raph doing push-ups.
@ashesGeek Correct. Humanoid doesn't mean human. While I'm not vouching for interspecies relationships in the real world, for the sake of fantasy and the message it sends through fiction that love is love and love finds a way, I say why not?

En general, estoy de acuerdo. A mi no me molestan los romances, al menos tal y como se muestran hasta 2012, la verdad. Les agrega más trama (no drama, el drama es realmente que ellos se extinguirán) y profundidad, ya que son adolescentes y es divertido y curioso ver las personalidades de los 4 en ese aspecto. No entiendo porqué se puede ver extraño o incluso ser odiado, es ficción, y tampoco ocurrió nada en Apritello pero fué divertido y empaticé con Donnie. Los que no puedo ni ver son el de Splinter Mayhem ni el de Aprileo... ella es un gnoll. No puede decir nadie que eso es, cuanto menos atractivo xD (ni qué decir del de Splinter con esa horrible cosa) En lo personal, para mí, es memorable que ocurra un Apritello al menos una vez en la historia tmnt asi como podría ocurrir con cualquiera de los hermanos. Sin ser un gnoll, obvio..o una cucaracha inmunda. Esto, si es muy raro. Respecto a una quinta tortuga formando parte del team, ésta me parece muy importante, ya sea hombre o mujer ,No. Ellos son mejores siendo solo 4. Pueden armar más teams fuera de este, como el de los mutanimals u otro distinto, pero dejen el principal como es.
