I've been playing the Alapin with 2.c3 forever. This just convinced me to play the *delayed* Alapin. The thing about many of these traps is that they stem from natural-looking moves for black.

Wow, and here I was playing the Smith Morra Danish variation, tilting at danish windmills. Definitely improved my piece coordination, working from behind but with all my pieces developed! But this seems like a fun and sounder alternative.

3:13 Rb1 is a move I came up with on my own about 32 years ago. It lead to a rather spectacular win against a computer after Qf5?!, Rxb7! Bxb7, Qa4+ Qd7, Bb5 Bc8, Rc1! Qxb5, Rxc8+!

very entertaining yet informative video. I'll consider learning this variation of the sicilian, since i currently play Smith Morra or after e4 c5, I play Nc3 followed by g4(it's bad but only if Black does a dragon setup)

I started playing e4 for the nakhmanson and the jerome, and the sicilian really threw me off as I did not like the alapin nor the main lines. This might be the solution for my e4 repertoire.
