Here is a rule of thumb that I’ve learned. “If I buy this card, will I enjoy displaying it or will it just go in a box.” This has helped me make better buying decisions and enjoy my collection more. Having boxes full of cards that take up storage space can cause regret or anxiety. That said I do have a couple PC boxes of cards that I enjoy flipping through.
Great advice and thanks for sharing your learning int he hobby... Great feedback and very helpful for new entrants for sure.... now I am going to make you laugh... I actually have a 2014 Prizm complete PSA graded set!! ... I just think it is an iconic set (and will prove this over time).... thought that you would get a kick out of that. Also thanks for the shout out to my YT channel....
I have a hard time buying psa 10s. The premium is just so high that I’m fine with using that budget for buying 4 base cards or 2 psa 9s of cards that I like. On the other hand I’m always on the lookout for desirable cards that I can send in for grading. I’ve done well on grading and selling PSA 10s.
I’ve found that buying loose cards hoping that they grade 10 is tough, people are usually selling them because they’ve inspected them and determined they probably won’t be 10s. I honestly only buy 10s. If I spend the premium on a graded card I don’t want there to be a superior option. If it means I only buy a card every 6 months instead of every month it’s ok.
Just found your channel! As someone who is a sports junkie I love all cards. I’m learning more about soccer and while it is tough, I find the challenge fun. Thanks for your video and looking forward to more of your content as I continue to grown my knowledge. Also followed you on IG and Twitter! 🙏🏼
Appreciate the kind words, and happy to hear you're enjoying soccer cards and the content I provide. Thanks for the follows and feel free to reach out if you need anything. Best of luck out there.
How would you categorize the National Sports Card Convention and Topps UCL Japan variant cards? Same bucket as the Steve Aoki’s, or can a distinction be made?
I have pretty simple goals. I want auto’s cards that are PSA graded 10s of players I know and like. I came over from collecting baseball cards and sold a chunk of my baseball card collection to get things started…I purchased a Messi 10/10 card/auto. Unlike the OP I have no problem paying for a slab…as long as it’s for something with low availability and it’s perfect. I’ve been ripping packs since then and I keep the cards I like and grade them. The ones I don’t like or I don’t think will grade well I sell them on eBay and bank those sales to purchase the next card. I’d like a CR7 card, Ronaldo card, ronaldinho, Modric Card, Zindane Card and I have a list of about 20 other players that I’d eventually like to purchase. In my mind, I’m getting both the gambling aspect of it and the purchasing older players aspect of it. I’m approaching it at least
I have a set list of GOATS on my list to collect : CR7, Messi, Zidane, Ronaldinho, R9, and on top wishlist /will never buy / maybe will Maradona/Pele/Cruyff.
Real rare soccer cards don't have PSA 10, they have SGC 4. But are they worth and will be worth more than this guy who won the baseball final in the 90s. I don't know. It depends on the story we share and the one we forget.
Are u watching the euros mate? Yamal could go on to win a lot of euro cups and world cups why dint u compare his 1/1 auto rookie with other usa sports and rookie 1/1 cards u seem to like the messi rookie cards :) bought some more topps superstar cards 25£ value box . at 1st i never liked these cards but now im enjoying them .
Yes... I watched the Euros.... So what. Just because a young kid comes out and looks good doesn't justify spending tens of thousands on a 1/1 of him. Even if he goes on to be great, there will be hundreds if not thousands of other 1/1s produced and he'll be signing for decades on end. The point was, the 71 BIS is the most iconic card in soccer, and it sells for the same as a gambling vehicle for a modern prospect. Those two cards are not equally important to the hobby despite their similarity in price.
I could have sold my base yamal flagship for 350 now it’s worth 100 I’m not in it for the money I pay money to open stuff for a hobby iv watched football for almost 5 decades !and now I watch your videos.
@@UsmntSoccerCards A video on the sheer number of 1/1's being printed now might be interesting. It just seems insane to me. The breakers hype the $hit out of them cause they know they can juice their prices and the card companies oblige and include more and more of them. The hobby's version of The Emperor's New Clothes.
