Ive owned countless 68-72 c10's. But none gave me the joy of that on board view of that ole blue Dodge. Thanks for the memories it brought back of ny dad and i and working as a young fella on the dairy farm my grandfather ran. Wow what a blessing. God bless you sir. I have great respect for you and your work ethic and hard work puttin out these videos for us.
I am a retired disabled senior and I enjoy watching your videos all day long I just found your channel yesterday and that's all I've been watching thank you for posting your very entertaining and I like your work
ken you must of been hiding and watching me work... i was 13-14 when my dad had a old flat bed two and a half ton chevy truck with a 6 lunger and four speed with granny low..he would be on the ol ford tractor baling hay and id tie off the steering wheel with my belt and throw that ol truck in granny low and let it idle right down the row of bales and toss em up on the truck..when i got to the end of the row id jump in and stop it then climb up and stack the hey and go on to the next row...all day long.... every summer,,sure did keep me in shape,,, learned to drive in that old truck..good memories..it was down around Osceola mo..not far from Arkansas..lol
I'm 41 man, you are taking us to toy stores hahaha and childhood. Born in Cuba, in one of the first trucks I started learning was in a quiet 1952 International truck and yes, you can walk by their side idling, very quiet truck that was. And the family sold it, too sad. Was in great shape. So you certainly bring lots of beautiful summer vacations in that truck visiting families in the Country of Florida, Camagüey, the area from where is my mother side of the family. Great channel man, and awesome content, you're bringing back to live lots of engines that are sitting ere, missing the old days fun!!! Great job, keeps you busy and active, that's good!
Great stuff Mr. Ken ! Loved part 2 also !! A lot of "vintage" iron !!! My Dad always called the low gear " Bulldog" !! I learned to drive in a late 40'S International cattle truck , also know as a "Corn Binder" !! It had the Bulldog gear . Whenever you shifted in the Internationals , you better double- clutch if you wanted to change gears !!! I guess one of the main reasons I love your videos is they bring back so many great memories !!! For that my friend I thank you !!!! Be safe and God bless you and your family !!!!! Eddy
Back in 76 thru 79 I was working for a Nursery ( landscaping biz) but we used to lay a lot of sod, and used to have to go cut & load our own too! I used to run the old walk behind sod cutter but after running it for a while, in a day, that thing would wear you out! But boy fooling with that sod it sure would put the muscle on you, like lifting weights all day! Anyhow, I quit school back in 76’ and went to work the very next day ( didn’t have no choice, my old man told me I had too)! You know how that is!! Anyway, good stuff brother man!! 👍✌🏻
Dang sir. Right before you said brings back memories I was thinking the same thing. Very nice sir.You were right on the money when you said a lot of history here. So thanks for the history lessons and the memories. I really enjoyed it. Happy Motoring.
This ain't long for me, I've watched ones as long as 2 hours in one go, though I don't do more than one of those a day! Watched some four-hour ones too, but I split those up into a couple-three days! Hot dang, that's a lot of great stuff to have fun with! Even a boom tube!
Great looking at all the old iron! Always had a soft spot for the Studes. He has some nice old trucks and the sod roller is really cool. It's the first one I've ever seen. Glad you got your transmission too. I know what's goin in front of it and can't wait to see what it'll be goin in. Really enjoyable video buddy. I like learnin about this stuff, see you next time!
i really like that international kb-5 and the 1950 ford truck. nice score on the small 10 speed! i think you can convert it to an overdrive if you need it!
Jeremy Wilson That does make sense, now that you mention it , I used to work on a lot of converted road trucks whers 8th and 9th , and 9th and 10th were way out there , instead of a straight ten spd .It made them hard to drive fully loaded on a secondary road here in Michigan.
Ken that is awesome video. Looks like gathering parts and supplies for the new rat rod. I am getting a GMC Brigadier truck and I am not quite sure what I am doing with it yet. But it has a Detroit diesel and a 9 speed Eaton-Fuller transmission in it. By the way I am excited to see yours coming together. Thanks again for the video
Shush... don't give me any ideas. I know of an old GMC brigadier down the road with a stuck injector and have a 50s GMC ton and a half in the yard that needs guts.
Hey! Y'all dun real good scorin' that trans....put that behind that V-12 an you''ll be pullin' stumps in the next county! Whatcha gonna put that combo in? Whatever it is gotta call it a stump-rod. Makes Superman look like a wimp! Thanx for sharin, I enjoy tourin other people's collections. ✌☺
Ross has a pile of cool stuff from the looks of it.. tundra buggy was before AGCO got there dirty hands on them lol. good machines though.. if you ever run across a 33-36 ford pickup i would run to the end of the earth for it,,
I feel like a rock star cause my name was mentioned on ur channel. I recon you've got the clutch issue figured out! J. C. Smith was probably correct about making the RT610 an overdrive ... do some research because a lot of ole truckers used to swap some gears around in them to make it a TALL overdrive!
Hey Ken, I endured to the end and was rewarded with lots of Eye Candy, and Old Iron. Kinda sounds like one of them there fancy par fumes from Paris or somewheres. Eye Candy and Old iron, I like it. Nice old iron, too. God Bless. Preciate cha.
Can t believe my luck on a Saturday night! Thanks Ken! Drove s lot of trucks with that four speed tranny. And more than I'd like to remember with a ten speed or thirteen or fifteen
1963impala2dr your welcome, they do look kinda like an octopus, tentacles, intake runners. my dad calls it granny low to ,first gear ,in them old dump trucks,.i havent seen many of those 318 wide blocks anymore .sounds good, that sweptline dodge is cool.
Becky Watt ur right ,that one is ,but this is a few yrs newer ,and many available powertrains. at my shop we have a 2 ton dodge ,48 with a flat head six.
"Compound" related to 4X4 Hi Lo when I was a young boy. "Granny gear" was those non-progressive 1st gears. The only other "Compound" I remember was the Old Mack RQ 718's & RQ 720's. I was 12 years old when Daddy started teaching me to drive the old 2 stickers (4X4 & 5X4). The old duece & a 1/2 CCV (WWII vintage) trucks I learned to float all my gears, So much easier to drive them that way. Between the Granny & Compound I could walk faster than the truck...so I'd jump out open the gate...let thew truck through...close the gate...then jump back in & drive the truck. Good video...lotta good info.
That Tundra Buggy would make one HELLUVA trike! Take the whole cab off, lengthen steering column, plop an old Farmall dash and steering wheel closer to the back wheels, get a nice comfy waverunner or snowmobile seat, maybe a roll bar behind the backseat passenger's head, WOW! Get'r dunnn!
8:04 AND it's a two speed axle! That's the truck I want. I need a dump bed about three times a year. We got out of dirt farming in the 80's and sold our grain trucks. I've wished for dump bed a million times since then. Those old flathead Dodge's never die. Fresh gas, Marvel Mystery oil and patience will get any of them going. The only thing about them I don't like is the damn distributor is not easy to reach at all. You about have to pull it to mess with the points.
Those old Chrysler flatheads were smooth, but also extremely gutless. I had several. They wouldn't outrun themselves. The Chevy 6 was a serious upgrade.
Those old trucks are the ones that the democrats obumba crowd wants off of the road and for the rest of us to ride our bicycles to work or to the store!
Love going to places like that and that they have a story for everything in the yard . Getting guys like this guy to let go of anything is a great feat just in its self...nice old crusty F1 Ford don't find them just sitting around here anymore . Thanks for the tour .
I would love to but I'm on the other side of the country way up in New York State . I just picked up a F5 cab chassis that came off a apple orchard.....love the old iron you have glad to see you keep it instead of crushing it . Thanks for the offer...would be a great road trip .
Here I am, healthy as a lark yet quarantined by my government, looking for some wholesome car videos... and there you are making a video about some tranny.
Love the ole Blue Diamond....That moss covered B series Dodge is the deluxe model with the corner cab windows. I cut my teeth on those old trucks decades ago.
My 1st encounter w/a super low gear was about 6-7 years ago working for a supply house...Had a bunch of Internationals(manuals) & some Ford Heavy Dutys(those were automatics). One of the chief drivers & I were coming back from making deliveries & ran into rush hour traffic. Dave says to me: "Throw her into super low." I'm like, "What?" Dave then tells me get out of regular 1st then go hard left & up...when I released the clutch, it was like the truck had shut off - it dropped to about 600 rpm, but the old boy(built in 2001) kept right on moving - yeah, I was impressed.
we used to call it "Granny low" and we'd haul hay on the farm with some old flat bed truck.. you could put er in granny low and get out and walk along beside it and throw hay bales up on the back. you'd just walk along and reach in through the window and turn the steering wheel a little once in a while
Cool stuff, My dad had a 50 f-100 ford truck when I was a kid. I went and dug one out of a junk yard about 20 years ago but I never got around to fixing it so I gave it to a buddy at work when he retired, As far as I know it still sitting under a shelter at his family's home place. Graet video thanks for taking us along for the ride :-)
When your show first started I was thinking Arizona or New Mexico. But low & behold (WA state) Out on the S.E. side ??? Yakima Maybe ??? I grew up and spent most of my life here in Western Washington. Good deal save the old trucks, I'm looking for a 426 or 503 inline 6. And a 52-54 620 GMC. !!! THANKS FOR POSTING. If you need a Ford 390/C-6 or 3/4 ton Dodge 4x4 parts message me....
Awesome trip..takes me back to my uncle Lem’s potato farm out near Easton Maine back in the 60’s..all those old trucks were hauling potatoes off the fields Cheers from snowy and -35c that’s -31f HudsonBay Ontario 🇨🇦
then m old truck cabs with speakers opposite the speedos are meant for right hand drive builds where the speedo is on the right and the speaker on the left.. exporting trucks to right hand drive countries made easier..
What rear gearing does the blue dodge have? It sounded like it was running a pretty high rpm down the highway. Not that there's anything wrong with that, just curious
im not sure what the rear dif ratio is but the mic on the camera did a really poor job inside the cab.. I know when i played it back, it sounded like it was screaming haha.but its really not that bad
@@1963impala2drWaylonWire Sounds similar to my 79 GMC K25 that has 3.73s. Kinda hard to tell though because the speedo doesn't want to wake up from the 0 peg and I don't have a tach to inform me just how close to the moon I'm getting with my rpms
