How is it going .. ? I’m one month in. And my two strands keep unraveling 😢I’m embracing the journey. Also I’m starting a new job and I’m nervous about wearing my natural hair..
officially 4 months locd and i’m noticing how much my hair has changed. my hair is starting to have a mind of it’s own and i’m having a lot of fun. it’s freeing actually
I’m 3 days into my starter locs. I really can’t wait to see how it looks. I always wanted locs but didn’t want to start with the short phrase. But I’m ready now.
I am nine months in my loc journey. There has been a lot of trials and error, but I’ve also learned a lot about my hair and what it needs. I started with my hair sectioned and a boxed neatly but it’s semi free form now less stressful on my scalp and me. My advice if I may is that you should learn to do your own hair because going to a Loctician can get pricey. And there is so much beauty in doing it yourself.
Started my loc journey 3 days ago and I’m excited!! I’ve always been curious about locking my hair so I’m looking forward to see what my hair’s gonna do.
I'm coming up on 4 weeks into my loc journey. I did a lot of research before i decided to two strand twist my loose hair and I'm still gathering as much information as I can. As a loose natural I tried all the styles and began to gravitate towards marley twists and faux locs only and thought I should just loc my hair. So I did lol for many reasons too but mainly I was over manipulating my hair and just wanted to let it do what it wanted to do. Best decision. And your locs are absolutely gorgeous and so are you! 💕
I’m just a few days short of 4 months into my loc journey and I’m so proud of how far they’ve come already! It’s so interesting how unique locs are because I feel like mine are developing weirdly fast compared to a lot of other people I’ve seen. I’m semi-freeform so I’m not sure if that has anything to do with it but they’re pretty stiff and solid about 3/4 of the way down and still frizzy two-strand twists toward the end. They’re also not very heavy yet (there’s one random one in the back that’s speedrunning that’s actually heavy but everything else is getting that loc shape and texture 3/4 down but still lightweight). I’ve also already seen a good bit of length retention in such a short period of time. I have about a full inch worth of extra length that’s visible, but I can tell they’re shrunken because they haven’t dropped and I lost a hair the other day that was much longer than my locs when I stretched it out. Looking through these comments made my realize I style them too much though because my actual loc starts about a half inch from my root, time to commit to wraps and stop styling so much! Thanks for making loc content, it really helps to encourage me on my journey and help me learn new things! I’ve been a loose natural my whole life and I’m only the second person in my whole family who’s ever locked their hair so I’m going off of RU-vid and intuition.
I’m 3 months in my starter loc phase and you’re absolutely right the hair is gonna do what it wants I’ve had to stop doing as many styles and manipulation and I see better results from growth💯
Thanks for the tips! I’m 5 months in my journey but my mistake was getting retwists with styles every month because that’s what my stylist told me to do up until the 6 month mark. I’m noticing soooo much space from my root to where my actual loc is and I honestly could have avoided that if I didn’t get so many styles, but it’s okay because I’m going months without a retwist!!!
Thank you for the tip about not retwisting your hair while dry. I’m still learning almost 2 months in on my loc journey. I love how you refer your hair as a plant that’s so true 😊
I’m in my 5th month and I’m loving and learning so much about my hair. It is so much like taking care of my plants. Thank you and love your videos. Happy loc journey everyone!❤
Great tips so thank you! I started my locs November 11th and im getting my first retwist this weekend. I been letting them do its thing and just moisturizing and using natural products so im excited for the journey.
Enjoying the watch I started out with super long hair and I wish I had of started out with a big chop because it feels like I’m not getting the whole benefit of the journey. Now don’t get me wrong I’m loving my journey but I see how shorter hair locs stages seems so rewarding idunno maybe it’s just me 16 months in and I’m loving the new free form journey ❤ thank you for sharing your thoughts and tips 👍🏾
@@WOLF-wu2rc its okay, i used it when first starting my locs and its not like i messed them up forever, but its good to know that the gel is not the best
@@holisticflo unfortunately, my process restarted :( problems with my loctician: she was restarting my process the entire time so now my mom gonna start doing my locs and hopefully we can see some buds on my 2nd retwist
I only use Jajoba oil, glycerin, aloe vera juice, black castor oil, castile soap and water on my locs. no conditioner or butters. and I limit my use of the oils in my hair.
Thank you for the tips! I am almost a month in with starter locs now, I am guilty of the hands in hair but try to keep that to when I'm doing hair care, but I usually keep my crown wrapped. Have you tried using olive oil?
Im 2 days in and... damn! Um my hair is short bro and my mom aint making this jouney easy eith her commentary but imma push through. Bit regardless i cant wait😂❤
@@holisticflo like bro it's real funny cause it didnt even have to wait for a month literally Wednesday she said : "oh they look thicker I can see a vision for it now"🤣 My mom is something else
My scalp was itchy af after a week in my starter locs cuz of the loc gel. It sucks im so close to quiting for the second time cuz my shrinkage is real. Box braids give me more hang
Started my locs today 🎉 I’m trying to make sure I don’t use products that are a detriment to my locs. I am curious about how it will transition in the months to come.
Congrats on starting your journey! In the first few months, you learn a lot about your hair, and will probably change products quite a few times before you learn what you wanna stick with
Im 2 weeks into my loc journey. I'm very excited and want to be sure I'm doing my best to help my hair be healthy. Can you recommend some things to try to moisturize my scalp?
Congrats on starting and if that works well for you then great! Sometimes when you grt further into the journey is when you see more clearly how products react with your hair
This video was so helpful, ive had locs before but I did the "insta loc" way with a tool, and it worked, but my locs were fragile in the beginning since it kinda damages the hair. I shaved my head, and finally I'm trying the twist method, and it looks ecaxtly like yours innthe pictures, lol uts just good to know its normal
thank you for the tips ☺️🫶🏾 i am roughly a month in and going in for my first retwist this weekend, but i’m hoping to self maintain after my third month. your channel has been extremely inspiring
Yea you are right the longer yr locks get is the heavier it's gets and I think that's my down fault caz am always rapping it up often and every two to three weeks I rolled it over caz i never like how it's looking
i didnt know their was a thing called hand in hair syndrome 😭 i had no edges thru all of uni bc i used to pick at them when i was stressed or anxious.. (still do but im better at catching it) now im a week into my starter locs and i keep tugging at the ends bc i like the feeling when the coils bounce back...
Is it recommended to stretch starter locs specifically when started with two strand twists before going to sleep? What is the best practice for night maintenance so that upon waking it it won't be all over the place lol. Didn't know if braiding nightly would cause issues or should you leave as in or maybe in a loose ponytail?
Great question. I stretched my starter locs in the beginning and wouldn't recommend it because it could make the locs unravel. I would try a loose ponytail
