Absolutely gorgeous, Kate. I continually loved through the video how various paints and water soaked into the canvas color leaving behind the beautiful tints and colors. From the beginning you had me mesmerized as you added your layers so beautifully in my favorite colors. Add to that the use of sparkle and shine and I am definitely going to make my own cover (out of canvas). Thank you for your detailed instruction. I am in love with your final piece of art. JaneXOXO
Incredible tutorial once again. I have the same canvas journal but I want to "save" it to something special . Now I feel it is time to make it happen !! this is PURE magic. I am "purple" envy LOL(if there was a word). The final touch of gold is ROYALTY beautiful. Super love !!!
this is just brilliant,so many beautiful elements and colors here, love all the amazing details and the gold lining in the hair is a fantastic addition !!
What a beautiful piece of mixed media! I’m just starting out and awaiting a delivery of some Jane davenport products! I will defo be coming back to this video for hints and tips! Please keep up the great work! Looking forward to watching more from you! Happy days! Thank you
WOW! Love, Love, Love It! Fabulous! I am new to mixed media and was given a JD blank Canvas journal for my birthday. I am certainly going to follow along to create the cover of mine once I have accumulated a bit more crafty mediums. Thank you so much! :)
OMG, KATE, If your friend isn't happy with this, there is something wrong with her... This is the most gorgeous book cover I've EVER seen!!! I LOVE everything that you did, every step, every color, the placement of the collage pieces. WOW!!! Your work has always amazed me and this certainly did not disappoint! Love it!!! I could keep going, but everything else would just be redundant at this point... oh, did I mention I love it??? :)
I loved seeing this, traveling through the blog hop today. I absolutely love all the interest, you put onto this journal cover, and of course, your drawing is fabulous. Think, I will decorate a happy mail box in this manner, with the exception of drawing something so spectacular. Thanks Kate for the inspiration, especially using the dry pigments with the gesso.
Wow Wow Wow!! How are you going to give that away!? I would have to keep it for myself! Lol So beautiful! Thanks so much for showcasing some of janes products!
Wow!!! Kate, This is something so special you made for Aditi. I love it so much, Your drawing is so lovely. Love the way you made the background and so much colorful it is. Kate I've just discovered your channel and I'm in total awe of your work. I can't wait to try out some of your techniques!! I just wanted to ask you what is the acrylic gold paint and the acrylic black paints you use in your fineliner bottles please? Thanks.
Aww thank you oxoxo . It's Golden Fluid Acrylic paint (in black or gold - there are a few options to choose from) mixed with a little Golden air brush medium (or other clear runny medium) just helps make the paint a little more easy to squeeze out of the fine nozzle - you can use it unmixed but you have to squeeze the bottle more firmly. Start by adding the paint then mix in the clear runny medium little by little until it reaches the consistency right for you. Make sure to shake before each use to make sure everything remains mixed well
This is stunning Kate! Really enjoyed watching your video, the cover is just wow! Do you have a pond beside your house?:) So many frogs, cute, makes me long for Summer! xo Asia
Stunning & incredible journal project. I may have to buy her canvus journal to try this project. I'm wondering if I can skip the workable matte fixative step. I don't tend to use it & I hate to buy a big can of it. Would it be ok to skip it & just keep going. I could try to be careful when adding the paints with the blending sponge. I could spritz the paints on an acrylic block or palette paper to avoid smearing. Thanks again for this great video. Your journal is just beautiful.
This is not brilliant; IT IS AMAZING!!! The best of both worlds, Tim Holtz grunge with a riot of Davo colour. May I ask what stamps were used? The 'main products' list is blank. Ta la!
