I love long hair and don't believe that women over 40 should not have long hair. I am 51 and my hair is naturally curly and long and I since I am pretty tall and athletic it gives me femininity I need as an "Amazonian" looking woman. I feel like with a short hair I would look like a dude, or my head would look way to small compared to my body and that's really not feminine.
I absolutely agree with you. I'm 58 and my hair is very long. Can't imagine myself with a short haircut, although I had it once and was looking horrible. Woman's hair gives her an extra beauty.
Some of us simply cannot wear long hair. My hair is very fine and thin. I have worn a short pixie for years. My husband loves it and so do I. 😊 I’ve tried to grow it out but it looks stringy, lifeless and makes me look haggard. I’ve tried all the tricks and products - does not work. I came to terms with this long ago. I am very feminine. I’m 5’5” 120 pound and petite.
Your grandmother's advice is always very correct regarding clean and ironed clothes and a clean and tidy house, it says a lot about a person's personality, kudos to her 🙏💪
9:59 My mum was telling me "Wake up early, do your make up and don't leave the house without a lipstick " 😂. Once I was at her's and we were going somewhere. I didn't apply lipstick and my mum was like "Hey, were is your lipstick?" 😂😂 My mum is 68 and looks fabulous.
@@fnma21 My mom died at forty nine, but I remember her saying if you do nothing else make sure you don’t leave the house with lipstick. She was a beautiful lady…her parents were from Italy and she looked like Sophia Loren the actress and she wore her signature red lipstick always. ❤️
I cannot emphasize the importance of self confidence! Good manners and kindness are your best accessories. Plus, dress for the body you have, not the body you want! Frederique, your suggestions are always helpful and appropriate!
Confidence and good energy that comes with life experience. Knowing what suits you and maintaining a healthy weight. Sunscreen - also on hands - before leaving home to maintain good skin. Enjoying life’s little pleasures as much as possible.
My grandmother used to lightly spray her cologne on a cotton ball and put it in her bra( she said she read that hint from reading an interview w/ Lana Turner...old hollywood movie star🤩)...and now I do the same thing!
I have never worn red lipstick because it's just too bright for me, but that color you put on in the video looked perfect. It looks like a warm color which would be what I need if I tried Red lipstick. Now I am on the hunt for a warm red. Thank You!
Very good tips! I have to say I have worn a bright fuchsia pink lipstick since my mid 20's and probably always will. It just wakes up my face. Red is a little tough and too strong of a color for me - I might wear some in the fall/winter (a red with gold metallic is pretty), otherwise its always the fuchsia pink.
Love your top, your videos and your energy! You make me happy! I listen to your videos before I go on business trips or when I am in stressful situations, because you have a way to make me feel strong, you make me laugh at times and you give me a positive state of mind. Thank you so much and please continue with your work! Greetings from Romania
Great tips! I agree with all of them, although I don't always follow them! I would, however, add another tip… the importance one should give to the hair. A good haircut, a well-cared and hydrated hair makes miracles.
Thank you Frederique for this video !! It’s exactly the type of reminder I need to keep myself on track when life takes over and I forget to focus on myself. 🥂
I'm a new subscriber and I absolutely love you. I AM 52!! How did that happen? I need all the fashion help I can get. love your glasses , do you have a link to those? It seems like as soon as I hit 50 nothing fits me correctly..😠 UGH! I need to start binge watching. 😂 💜
To Do List: Find a red lipstick that works for me (Impossible!!! they all make my teeth look yellow! My teeth are not yellow!) and order more of my favorite scent, the one that EVERYONE tells me is fantastic on me: Narciso Rodriguez For Her. I was always a Shalimar in Winter, Light florals in Summer girl but Oh, my.....I can wear that one all year long. I still sneak a Gardenia scent in now and then.....reminds me of my late mother. She grew Gardenias but ONLY (and I mean ONLY!) wore Jean Patou's JOY. She was French, of course! XXOO TY Frederique!
@@caliinthevalley24681 Hope I can figure that out LOL my lips have a natural bluish tint, and some berry colored lipsticks don't even show on me, because they match my 'lip tone'; doesn't help that my skin is light olive. I'm a typical European mutt: French, Italian, Irish and English. Olive skin, auburn hair, blue eyes and blue lips LOL LOL Thank you 😅
Great video! I've been wondering about Vivia, but haven't taken the plunge. You're correct that femininity is more of an attitude, but I love all your tips about elevating one's styling and putting that extra polish on your look.
Thanks for calling out the oversize Gender Neutral trends, which, BTW are always shown on willowy, long-haired fantastic women but on a less than slim figure would not have the same wow effect. I notice that most of those trends are made up of male film star staples from the 40s,50s: how odd that women wear mostly male clothes now. Not saying they don't l9ok great, but...
I’m v basic on make up but I can’t go without perfum I also feel naked without it. I normally have two on the go, one for summer something light and fresh and something heavier for winter
Most people are wearing way too much perfume and fragrance products. It's supposed to be subtle when people are very close to you it is not supposed to scent the entire room around you.
Vivais shoes are fabulously comfortable and they have some super cute styles as well as the practical ones!! I’ve been wearing them for a couple of years now! Love them ❤
Now that I am so fastidious about my appearance, I go through everything I wear when I get home and clean the shoes do anything that needs to be done so that they’re ready to put on for the next time. You really need to study the condition of your clothes, and your appearance.
Hi from Australia Fred. I love your rules in order to being feminine. I think I already do most of them as I like to look as perfect as I can and I loo feel naked without perfume. Loving watching videos for older women and I too have reduced my makeup, I am 56 but I think I look quite youthful. Love Lorraine ❤
Best make up for mature skin is SAIGU !! From Spain 🙌 Been using it for 2 years now. Foundation is hydrating, all the make up has skin care ingredients. I recommend EVERY product from them
Good afternoon, I enjoy your content. Flats are not for me, only around my house or gardening. I am 74, very petite, slim. I take a size 4B or 34 in shoes, only sold in vintage or very costly Uk brand. Found a couple of pairs of sandals from Gucci and LV which I love. Such a difficult time to buy clothing which fits me. J. Crew has my size at times. America caters to average and plus size clothing, so much worse for vanity sizing. When I find something which fits me and looks wonderful, I keep it and accessorize to modernize. Are there any other petite people around? I love the sneekers, but, of course they do not have my size. I still have my Shape Ups, which I love.
Inam also very petite and wore size 34 in shoes. Than with having to children and getting older my feet became bigger and I wear 35 now. I live in Switzerland and have the chance to go to Italy and buy my shoes there. They start with 34 or 35. For sneakers I always have a look in children’s department. There are some labels which have exactly the same models in children’s sizes as they have for adults. 😊 Two years ago my son got married and I was of course looking for a nice gown. After several horror experiences with not fitting one I had one tailored for me with lace from St. Gallen, which is also sold to famous designers…❤️
I’m with you on wearing lingerie as much as possible. When I’m “on duty” or going for a fitting, I love wearing the nude colored Natori feather plunge bra and bliss panty. They are so comfortable, fit perfectly and not too old grandma looking. I never have to worry about any bra strap showing, but I think the coolest, sexist bra I bought was a black lace strapless one from Etam in Paris! So boudoir looking, however, unfortunately I can’t get the same one anymore.
At work I have to wear an ugly blue trimmed in gray polyester shirt with black pants and shoes. Any ideas on how to make it a little prettier and feminine? I feel bla all day. Love your video! I'm a new subscriber.
Can you please help us pick the right red lip? I find many red lipsticks to be too bright and I just feel off with it. Is there a trick with your skin tone or something? 😂 I'm lost here.
I perm my eyelashes and have lip blush done. Been using retinol for years so don’t need foundation. Looking put together is really hard though, I have size J boobs, one bigger than the other. Bras that fit, impossible 😢
Nowdays i cant see big different between younger andelder women! They almost wear the same. Younger became more sofisticated, elder became modern. Its a big surprise. I think they watch fashion youtube video 24h per day! XD Thats totaly seems on them!
Great tip about updating frames. I've been wearing the same tortoise shell Coach frames for almost 4 years, it might be time to consider something else haha. I stopped coloring my hair ages ago and just let my natural grey come thru. I absolutely love my salt-and-pepper hair! So much more beautiful and interesting than my previous dyed dark brown (to me at least). The streaks of silver shine like glitter.
This video is a treat, Frédérique! Your new hairstyle is so French and looks amazing but those 'crawling animals on your wardrobe' gave me the creeps. 🦎🐜🐛🪲🕷 OMG, Australia! 🙀
