Great info. Couple of notes: you didn't really explain that this is all based on UK passport holder and it can be different depending on where you're from. Also, with the 30 days on arrival, this is technically a visa exemption, not a visa on arrival, plus it can be extended by 30 days like the others.
@Minoritynomad

yup. Other countries have "visa on arrival" which means they actually have to do an extra step. UK and US can just show up.

Very good video, thanks Brett. I think I would start off just with the 30 day visa on arrival and use that as a testing ground to whether I could stay there for a lengthy period. There’s a lot to think about if doing a full time move overseas.

This is good information, well presented. I have been coming to Thailand on and off, and now living here 15 years. I had a variety of visas including a work visa, now on a retirement visa. Getting the visas outside of Thailand was easy, doing anything visa related in Thailand always seemed to go wrong for me. My pals have no problem so it might be me. I now use a good attorney for renewals and 90 day reports. I just follow him around on the renewals and look simple, which I am good at. Good points though about don't make decisions until you have experienced Thailand, because although I find it the best place to live, some aspects can drive you crazy. I have a Thai wife which simplifies things a lot, although didn't bother with the marriage visa due to the hoops one has to jump through.
@hannesrand6872
@hannesrand6872 4 года назад
First one you mentioned is called Visa Waiver and it is available for most people from western countries. Visa on Arrival is actually something else. And you can actually extend your 30 days Visa Waiver for another 30 days in local immigration office.

That was what I tuned into this video to hear. I lived there on and off for a few years. I am sure I went over one time with nothing (except a plane reservation out) and got a 30-day permit, which I renewed for another 30. In case a miracel happens and the plague blows over the borders re-open some time this year. America has been like America only worse. I would rather be an ex-patriot over there - get some acceptance from people because they are inclined to tolerate your weirdness - than be treated like "are you from somewhere?" over here.

decent summary. For clarification: @1:50 "Visa on arrival"... this is indeed a "Visa" that you need to apply for at the kiosks, right before you walk to Immigration if you are from 1 of 19 countries (e.g. China, India, etc...) that takes less than a few moments and costs 2000 THB. the "Visa Exempt Stamp" is *not* a visa and if you are from 1 of 64 counties (e.g. USA, UK, ASEAN countries, etc..) you simply show up as you describe and receive that. This is Free. I think you might be under the impression the Visa Exempt Stamp is a Visa... but i could be wrong. its just sounded like that to me. be well. ~mikes

Based on the visa amnesty, I dont think the border will be open at the earliest July 31st. If i was in Europe or the Americas, I would book a flight to either Malaysia or Vietnam (countries that are opened and are about to) then cross by land to Thailand. Flying on a struggling airline is not smart.

Not sure for how long you have lived inThailand, but your forgot to mention the "Life Time" version of the Thailand Elite Visa is also available on the second-hand market, the price is roughly 1 million+ Baht and the validity after it is sold second-hand is reduced from LFE to 30 years, but it ives the member daily benefits and perks that the original life-time member received.

Look at all the different answers below for when Thailand will let you in via fight from overseas as a foreign national. As Brett says in video, it does vary from person to person. I don't like surprises, guesswork and gouging though. I seriously doubt if I will ever return. Nothing has changed. This will very much hurt visitors or ex-pats from going to Thailand.

Great info thanks. Will be applying for multi-entry as soon as they're letting foreigners back in. Do you know how long you need to wait between visas before applying for another? e.g. if I use a multi entry, then go back home for a month after it expires could I get another one that soon after?

This allows you to stay in the country for 30 day..it can the be extended for an extra 30 days at Immigration There is also a Visa on Arrival..there are countries that require a visa to enter Thailand...some of the countries (there is a list) can get the visa at the entry point to Thailand ...this is called Visa on arrival...just for info..good video..

Don't tell a foreign government you are there to visit for awhile when you want to live there. If you go there to retire get a retirement Visa. Some countries don't want foreigners owning their land. Period. Being dishonest attracts dishonest associates. Thieves steal from thieves. You can tell if a woman likes you. You can tell if she doesn't like you. Be honest with yourself. And be honest with her.

You get a 30 day visa on arrival, you can then extend this for another 30 days at an immigration office. Sorry, but I stopped watching after you said it couldn't be extended. If your first point is so wrong, I won't bother listen to the rest.
