You did such a good job compiling all of this infornation! These were all things I only discovered once I moved to Korea, I never saw anyone talking about this when I was researching the EPIK program! My commute was 2 hours every day, but I didn't get a stipend so I was spending about 93,000원 every month just to commute to my school. Regardless, I absolutely loved working in Korea and adored my students! Also TAKE ADVANTAGE OF KOREAN HEALTHCARE! Koreans will do IV injections just for Vitamin B and it's amazing!

Thanks for making this video! Although I am not going through EPIK, I plan on moving to South Korea in late February to teach English and a lot of the things you said were helpful for me.

Great channel, Courtney. I am currently applying for EPIK as we speak. I am a school-teacher here in USA with CELTA. Look forward to my possible journey in 'the peninsula' -- keep up the great work! :-)

Questions for you, how much Korean did you speak before you arrived in country? Is lack of knowledge a serious problem? Your schedule sounds busy with all the travel schools; do you have time to go to Korean language classes along the way?

Hi! I actually knew basically no Korean when starting with EPIK! It’s helpful to know Korean, but it’s definitely not necessary for the job! It just makes life a lot easier! I haven’t personally taken any language classes, but I know lots of teachers here will self study or have time to do classes after school!
