Wade Wilson ISN'T a Deathstroke rip-off. For more awesome content, check out: whatculture.com/ Follow us on Facebook at: / whatculture Catch us on Twitter: / wc_comics
I think what people forget the most is that Wade loves as much as he can. He doesn’t love everyone but he loves and tries to do everything he can to protect the people he does.
I love how you say his fourth wall breaking ability is kind of a superpower the dude literally has access to any gun any time because he knows he's in a comic
Imagine getting in a fist fight and out of nowhere he hangs in mid air and comes barreling down with a giant green rectangle that came out of nowhere and slices you in half
I still see him as an anti-hero, I wouldn’t really call him chaotic neutral, even though he started off as a bad guy, it’s really hard for me to see him as one
Also deadpool being good with kids is obvious in the beginning of the movie where he threatens the pizza delivery guy to stop stalking that one teenage girl
I wish they had spent a few more seconds on Deadpool and Kid Apocalypse. For those that don't know: X-Force was tasked with stopping Apocalypse's cult's attempt to revive him. After the team stormed the stronghold, they found that Apocalypse was already brought back as a young boy. Some of the team still wanted to kill him, but Deadpool objected. Fantomex shot the kid anyway (taking DNA samples to make a clone). Later on, Deadpool expressed his displeasure with Wolverine. Wolverine insulted Deadpool, saying he's a mercenary and therefore he has no morals to begin with. Deadpool responded along the lines of "Yea, but I don't kill kids." When the clone was eventually discovered, Deadpool became sort of surrogate uncle to the kid.
I had a friend who always cosplayed as Deadpool for movie openings and hospital visits. When the first movie came out, he claimed they took the character and made him dark and violent but he was going to continue portraying the character as funny and kind hearted (or something like that). To which I replied: "I don't think you've ever read a Deadpool comic...".
@@christophershafer5401 Honestly it depends on who writes him, some have played up the comedy some have played up the brutality at least from what I've seen from Deadpool stories.
It's possible his strength is just a side effect of his healing factor. Humans are a lot stronger than we think we are, because usually we're holding back from our full strength so we don't hurt ourselves, something that only changes when adrenaline or methamphetamines are involved. That's not an issue for Wade, since he heals so fast, so he can use his full strength without having to worry about hurting himself.
Actually he is super strong in the comics, super strength is one of his abilities. Something like 800 ton lifting capacity if I remember rightly. Correct me if I'm wrong though.
He can still feel pain when his body is in piecies the only thing that deadpool seems like a imortal is because he doesn't care about the pain when he gets hurt. Even wolverine can feel pain you guys know when wolverine gets shot by bullets or a missile or get stabbed he looks like his having a hardtime cause he can feel pain like any normal people would feel its just the fact that they heal fast that they don't really worry that much about pain but they still worry like a lil bit. and i just noticed that deadpools healing factor is better and greater than wolverines.
@@TheMyrmo Yes poor Bob, who joined Hydra because they had a dental plan. Then beaten up, shot, sold, jailed beaten up again. With the only superpower to 'run away'. *Hail Hydra!*
really love the way negasonic and yukios relationship was handled in the second movie. they treated it as just a normal relationship. that’s the representation we want, to just be portrayed as people, and not make our entire personalities into our sexuality. really subtle, but it reaaaally means a lot
Most movies make it mediocre by doing the "just pretend it's totally like a straight couple" which is better than mockery but isn't quite full on gay rep. Deadpool 2 does a good job of making the relationship an unimportant and rarely mentioned part of the story while making it feel full and real and acknowledged as something unique
Deadpool can't die from Suffocation he can't die from anything really he needs a single cell to regrow entire body back suffocation is not going to kill him even if he died he still comes back
@@aysparkz6645 that's true but then thanks got all of the Infinity Stones and made it to where he can't die because of his relationship with death who thanks also loves
@@aysparkz6645 you're right there's a sword made out of carbonadium it's a radioactive sword that can stop healing factor, DP used it to kill wolverine In the deadpool kills the marvel universe comics.
I think the Negasonic-Yukio thing shows that movie fans are perfectly fine with this sort of representation in films. What bothers us is when the film is politicised and the entire film appears to just be a vessel for that representation. *cough Bree Larson *cough
That’s not necessarily a fair comparison. Negasonic and Yukio had maybe three lines that showed they were in a relationship, and eight minutes of screen time in the film overall, whereas Captain Marvel was literally the protagonist. It would be just as easy to argue that fans simply ignored it because it was in no way relevant to the plot, or the arcs of any major characters.
@@SmokeyMountainSuccubusit annoys gay people as well. They don’t want to be seeing gay people just for the sake of it. They’re not stupid and they know movie companies are just adding it for the sake of *representation*

His recent friendship with Honeybadger just warms my heart!
I'm so glad you made that kid apocalypse reference. He's the greatest un-spotlighted character lately and has the most unused potential. Deadpool was the reason he stayed himself and not apocalypse, even after trying to save his original.
Actually his character is in fact based on deathstroke. A slight change in powers is what occurred in order to differentiate him from deathstroke though
I will admit Deadpool is good with kids. In Deadpool 2 he asked Russell “did they hurt you?” And then the way he handled it was great. This makes me wonder what his offspring will be like since he and his wife wanted a kid so badly
Disney just bought fox. Hopefully they don't screw Dead Pool up by censoring him, and making women rights a big deal when it should be normal. Hopefully they keep his solo movies R rated. The good thing is atleast now he will be able to join Disney's MCU. I really hope the don't screw Dead Pool with the SJW path they are going down.
That's the old bs but isn't true anymore. The dude was pissed when Evil Deadpool destroyed the best chimichanga joint in Jersey, had a chimichanga in his utility belt in his fight against Daredevil and fell into a food coma eating all you can eat chimichangas. Read up
@@BearWith_You first one was not a chimichanga place. Also through all that he admittes he didn't know what a chimichanga was. Despite being on panel eating it. He even was draw with a mexican truck.
Deadpool got super popular out of no where I still remember playing Deadpool in the first marvel ultimate alliance where he used to be able to teleport
Oh damn, I was just thinking about this! It was where I first met DP, didn't know anything about him just that it was pretty cool playing as him. It wasn't until years later that I actually learned who DP was. One of my favorite games ever!
I was about to comment something very similar actually (because it's the same with me, and perhaps any true fan), clearly, this list is an exaggeration with the use of "everyone".
Deadpool was really only a villain cuz he was working for Tolliver. Kinda like Silver Samurai was only a villain cuz he was working for Viper. It would be the first limited series THE CIRCLE CHASE where we would first see Deadpool fighting bad guys (1993)
actually according to the creators he both is and isn't pansexual. to say deadpan is definitively anything just states a lack of understanding of is character, deadpool is everything and nothing, at any given time he could legitimately be anything and nothing he was before. he is a character with a complex enough mind that telepaths usually either die or are scared for life when they look in his head. his entire purpose is that you don't know what you'll get from him
thank you!!!!! thats why ive always loved his character! his actual personality is uniquely brilliant and you stated very perfectly exactly why. hes likes what he likes and dislikes what he doesnt, but only for the brief moment he feels that way.
He is the walking embodiment of a liberal with super powers. Everything Is subjective, Based On Current Emotional State, enforced with a gun if you disagree.
Actually, Deadpool's powers are just a bit more potent version of Deathstroke's (except for Deathstroke's superior strangth) without the enhanced super human functions... Unless his 4th wall breaking is just a more powerful version of it. And they're both former villains on the path of redemption. They are also peek human fighters and excellent marksmen. They both also have family that became the villains that they themselves used to be, resulting in them having to fight them and while also fighting to be forgiven by their kids and get along. The creator even went on to say that Deadpool was supposed to be a paredy of Deathstroke.
He just wants friends to pick him up when he’s downs and I think he really does deserve some, everybody in the marvel universe really needs to let go of all the hate, he is not that bad, everything that has happened in the past, they need to just let it go and move on, they need to accept him for who he really is and stop trying to force him to change just because they don’t like it
I am glad you guys fixed this. The last one, you could tell that the person wasn't really a Deadpool fan. Also, I am glad the dark times of Daniel Way is over. Dude was the one that made Deadpool" XD so randumb rawr"
Yes he is. He never belonged in the mcu...he is a basic militant former soldier. No powers. Comics despeeately tried to keep him alive during his run ins with other mutants. Punisher is completely out of place. He is like stryker in MK...whats the point.
Deadpool and Spawn were always my favorite "heros." I even had action figures from the spawn series when I was a kid, back in the 90s. I wish I had kept them, but they're long gone now. I had a foot tall Violator toy with working joints. Which sounds incredibly wrong if approached without context..
Deadpool's relationships Blind Al: Helpless target/sage advice Weasel: His "guy in the chair" or more like "guy with all the guns." Bob: Buddy from the Henchmen Academy. Highly respects Bob for surviving as a henchman for so long without any powers, and knows that without his own power, he would be in the same boat or worse. Hulk; DP's ultimate foil. He can't do anything to the big guy, and he can't stop him from doing anything to him, also Hulk doesn't get his jokes. Hawkeye: Merc pals/rivals. Someone he can relate to more than anyone else and is a pretty decent match. Ironman: Knows when DP is full of shit, and doesn't buy any of it. But surprisingly can have trouble fighting him if DP is prepared for it. Thor: Can pretty easily defeat DP on any given day, but isn't annoyed by him or anything. In fact, because he's so powerful but kinda dumb, DP likes the guy, if not for the sake of teasing someone so powerful, and getting away with it. Black Widow: Costly Eye Candy Cpt.America: Totally fangirls over him. Cap is everything that DP isn't, and he loves that. Wolverine: reluctant allies. He's a pretty even match for DP, but unlike Hawkeye, Wolverine takes his teasing personally and is easily angered, prompting DP to troll him even more. But they still regularly team up because of their similar skill set, and anti-hero status. Cable: Slightly less reluctant ally. Also similarly matched, and knows DP is full of shit, and is annoyed by his teasing, but doesn't take it personally. And his affinity for guns gives them a common interest. Domino: love interest/rival. Pretty much the Black Cat to his Spider-Man. They hook up once in a while and they are very similar but neither of them want to get too attached because of the life they both lead. Also they both keep kill-stealing eachother's marks. Spider-Man: Best Bros/Complete Enemies. It's always one or the other. They have nearly an identical sense of humor and fashion sense, and they're both highly skilled and clever fighters, but their stances on murder is the one thing that puts them at odds half the time.
A few similarities between Deadpool and Van Wilder that I noticed when I recently watched the latter: Both Van and Wade have a best friend called Colossus, they both take under their wing an Indian who is hopeless when it comes to women, they both have a hankering for being naked from the waist down and when they both lose the woman they are crazy about they wallow in self pity whilst listening to All Out of Love by Air Supply.
This is stuff alot of people dont know about Deadpool and honestly that stupid game in 2012 or whenever it came out didnt help him it just made him look like a meme machine and not a depressed but still happy anti-hero that people love and hate at the same time
Lone Wolf It did give me negative vibes for Deadpool and it was the reason I was very nervous for the first film, as it could’ve failed miserably. Surprisingly, it didn’t....
I have theory about why he respected Captain America in that particular sequence. Since Cap was Cap Hydra and Deadpool knew about it. Reasons a. Deadpool was also a part of Hydra and knew about it the whole time so he was cool with it or b. Since Deadpool is a 4th-wall breaking character he knew about the whole comic as it was being written, and therefore knew Cap was part of Hydra and didn't mind. Just something to think about...
I remember when no one knew Deadpool :/ I don’t even know how he got so popular out of no where. I remember when I was a kid and I was obsessed with deadpool but he wasn’t popular at the time so I was only able to find a small toy of him that used to be my favorite
deadpool loves working with a team, in fact, he's apart of my super hero team as a permanent member, he was even a member of my parents super hero team, sure he's a bit of a nutcase, but the occasional pranks (i mean constint) do have some fun factor to them, he's the crazy fun uncle i never had
a couple things about him and kids. one thing is that he is in a kids cartoon called ultimate Spiderman for an episode. That is where I first learned of his existence. so, he can be written in a way that is appropriate for kids without ruining the character. Another thing is that he once did go insane enough to kill kids himself. That was in the comic "Deadpool kills the marvel universe".
people think he's a 100% troll, actually no, he does have a good heart, and he also cares about kids, he refuses to do any job that would put them in danger
I’ve read all Deadpool comics since ‘91. I’ll comment on all the facts. 10) I like that about him. I like that he doesn’t care what people think about him, the red and black, the jokes and above all, the references! 9) True, though a select few do respect and/or pity him. 8) Well, he does love “teaming up”, but when it comes down to the working part and the being serious stuff, yeah, he hates it. Basically, he hates the parts he doesn’t consider fun. Messing with people and fighting alongside them is his fun. 7) The cancer story is my favorite. My second favorite is the T-Ray version where he stole the identity of Wade Wilson. Anyway, the cancer origin was awesome and I love the storyline where he burnt his own parents to death. 6) He was supposed to be Spider-Man and Wolverine in one. He was thought right off as a Deathstroke ripoff. Yeah, that’s how he got a name. You got all this right. 5) Thank you for knowing this. So many people thought I was crazy. 4) I’m starting to think you’re me from the future. Either that or you’re really good at this. 3) True. Although many think of him as all “LOL memes” guy, I love the “Sad clown” take Gerry Dugan took. 2) Yup. It’s true. 1) Oh, boy. Isn’t that true. The comics with Ellie prove that.
I never cared for comics or there caricatures. Then I saw Deadpool and I can't get enough. His dialogue is real human like with all our perverse and off the cuff thinking that most keep to them selves. You know where you stand with someone so honest with there thought and words. I like and people like that. I am that way. Even when it makes others uncomfortable, because those I do are usually fake anyways.
Um, his only real superpower is a healing factor, even says so in his marvel bio. He gets the strength and agility from this, as he can use his muscles at full potential without having to worrying about muscles being destroyed. Human muscles are far stronger than most people think, the brain limits this. Thats why people can do amazing fits of strength in times of extreme pressure, the rush of adrenaline can override this. Look it up
You also forgot the comic where deadpool has a kid (can't remember if adopted or actual) and she gets kidnapped. He goes full archer on the kidnappers, it's by far one of my favorite deadpool stories.
Deadpool is immune to Ghost Riders penance stare. For 2 reasons 1. He has no regret in his life, so Ghost Rider found it impossible to use his past sins to punish him 2. Deadpool is already in constant pain because of his mutation, whatever pain Ghost Rider is able to inflict on Wade. Has no affect since he's already suffering. His humor is to hide the fact he is constantly in pain When Ghost Rider did use the Penance stare, all he saw was Wade's history and everything wade had gone through that made him who he is. It was so bad he reverted back to Johnny Blaze
WAIT WAIT WHAT!! your telling me deadpool has more agility than spiderman....are you kidding me I want actual facts behind this cause I dont believe this not one bit
@@Sonic_the_Hedge-hog oh i didn't know that still curious on why it wasn't in the video i thought it was a power how did he get this device and is it explained in the comics how the device works
Him being surprisingly good with kids reminds of that time he talked down and got help for a suicidal girl. That was something I didn't believe he could do
