@@brunogamesbr1 This statement would be comforting if it was the early 2010s, but now? Not really, games now are really close to their Demo stages. Very rarely do they change the game much afterwards unless they delay the game by a large amount of time.
@@dennisraeimakers5218 this is not the point. It's about games preservation. When it's online only, they can take away your game that you bought with your own money anytime they want. You don't own it, you're just borrowing the product. It's anti consumer and i don't support it.
@@dennisraeimakers5218 I care. As a gamer and game developer myself, there's no way I'm giving them a penny even though TDU was a big part of my childhood. I know a lot will do the same and I love it. because if you support these shitty business practices, they will continue doing it in every game from now on. And we don't want that :) But you feel free to do whatever you want, it's your money after all.
@@Ball.Daily11It's literally said in the video. But tldr, if they decide to shutdown the servers, you no longer can play the game that you purchased. Lots of companies are doing this now.
So it's TDU without housing and housing customization (Including Garage, And no House boat!), No good story with cutscenes etc, No clans/crews and clan/crew housing, No bikes, No interesting events, No car customization, No drifting, Bad physics, No offline mode, poor optimization and no wheel support. So it's a mobile game for PC? Man I sure do hope the full release is better than the demo.
@@SawRunner Watch your tone. My comment was made from watching what I've seen from the demo gameplay. Me making a misinformed mistake doesn't warrant you being a condescending tw@t, and nitpicking one thing over a mountain of lackluster promised content falling short of community standards doesn't make my initial comment unwarranted. So apologies. The game does have clans everybody but the rest of the game is just "Meh" at best and fails to come close to living up to the older title, Happy?
It won’t be better. It never gets better because the game is pretty much done at this point. I still can’t believe there are people who believe that something major will change from Beta/demo to the full release after all these years.
I agree with you but we have to keep in mind that KT doesn’t have the same budget as Playground or NFS developers (can’t remember their name), hence why some of the features won’t be available at launch and why this is a AA game. Also as you said, that’s a demo and a VERY early one as one of the devs pointed out in a recent interview (There’s a video about it in Kingdom Twelve’s channel). And i know that’s no excuse but i believe some of the issues that we are experiencing were already addressed. And that leads to another thing: KT actually listen to their community! A LOT of the things that we have in the game were suggested by us. The delivery missions that you mentioned and also houses will probably be in their first BIG update after 3-4 months of release (when the first Solar Crown season ends). We have to understand that, as i said before, they don’t have the ability to implement EVERY single thing at once, so some things will come in later updates. And, to be honest, they’re doing a VERY good job with the resources they were given. Almost every feature that we asked will be already available at launch/ The physics of the game are really well balanced, in a mixture of Forza and Gran Turismo/ The map is perfect, etc. To me they just need to fix the steering wheel issues as well as it’s animation, boost the convoy capacity to at least 6 players (8 would be ideal) and remove that stupid “Region Locked” thing (which i hope it’s only for the Demo because it doesn’t make sense at all). I wish they were able to add crossplay at launch but i don’t think it’s possible with the budget they have. Some customization would be nice either, i saw some people saying that there’s actually visual customization but they didn’t added in the demo. I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
I agree 100% mate ! You said that very well! For such a small company they did very nice job ! I am from the firsts in discord community and when I saw that they listen to us I said take my money on the first day of pre orders ! And when the demo revealed I said take me more money 😅because I knew that is an old build but the only want to test servers and balancing them ! In September everyone will be happy except the arcade racing players ! Because this game will be much different and with a lot of realism for the car physics and driving also 🙋🏻♂️
@@vaggeliskerasiotis6863 I also joined their discord very early and it’s really nice to see how the game is turning out! Tbf i was very concerned about a lot of things, especially the physics. A TCM-like physics would kill for me
I completely agree with Optimization and AI needing improvements. I was able to get some drifting in with the stock 370z, but it took more work than other games; really throwing the weight, downshifting, and handbrake.
@mrtandemslidessbtt It's definitely easier to powerslide. The game tends to prefer locking you up with understeer, but if you downshift and feather the gas you can drift. Just don't expect to sustain a drift through the whole course like other games.
@@SawRunnerI loved the bikes in TDU and I own multiple bikes myself, so it’s cool to have the same bike in the game and race around the map. Lol Bikes are also the only reason I played the crew. :)
I can't even begin to recall how many times in NFS: Most Wanted (2005) or in NFS: Carbon how many times I had to restart the boss races, they were hard af, but that's what made NFS:MW(05) and NFS:Carbon so great.
No offline mode so it is like buying a trial version - You never know when it become unavailable. Ubisoft did it with The Crew 1 and now players can't launch game at all unless they use server emulator.
Because the devs are completely different. TDU was taken over by a new developer, all they kept is the name. The actual TDU devs are making the crew games now. That's why motorfest feels closer to TDU than the actual TDU.
I would like to add that while this is a new Test Drive Unlimited game, it isn't going to have the same feel as TDU or TDU2. Simply put it's a completely different dev studio and publisher. The ones most of us love came from Eden Games and Atari. Atari sold off the rights to Nacon who gave it off to KT Racing to handle the dev work. While I know a lot of us would love to see a true revival of TDU, the honest truth is you have to look at Ivory Tower and The Crew series for that, because that's where the folks from Eden Games landed. While I'm looking forward to driving around Hong Kong Island, I don't think we're going to get a complete TDU experience.
I disagree with that observation, Game Director Alain Jarniou worked on TDU and to a greater extent as a lead developer on TDU2. He understands exactly what TDU requires and given time this game will include many of the features available in previous iterations and no doubt many more. I certainly wouldn't look to The Crew to replicate this, because after 11 years of development and support from a billion dollar company, they haven't come close. I respect what Ivory Tower have achieved but fundamentally, they've not hit the target.
@@TeamVVV how much does Nacon pay you and Alex to shill for this game? are they going to fly out all the influencers to france again to tell us how this is the greatest racing game ever made and preorder the gold edition now?
2:01 I'm never a drifter, so that's why I find tight quarter races really difficult as it is. I wish I can set up the car right from the start so I can brake aggressively but turn gently.
my absolute favorte thing about driving/racing games that sold me is the ability to have a garage like tdu and tc2, etc. i really wish more games does this
What bothered me a lot is the physics. I get that the "D" cars are the low tier. But it supposedly stands for "daily drive". Which apparently the devs don't, they only drive supercars. You can't take the slightest turn (not a 180 curve, or even a 90 degree turn, but a very, very gentle curve) at more than 60-70 km/h (about 40 mph) without the car oversteering like you're driving on ice. Imagine the accidents we'd have every day if that's how they handled in real life.
@dangerranger3297 what u laughing at lmao. Fix ur settings. It looks just as good as it's competitors. Brakes are also more realistic than other games.
One thing that akways gets me in car games is the roads being perfectly mathematically smooth, it makes the vehicles feel like they are just floating in the air. The roads need to be more rough
Nope. Same with xbox u need subscription to go online, only exception i know of are free to play games u can always play them online without any subscription
What's the most important to me when this game releases is the developers! Do they listen? WIll they try to improve things? Do they care about smaller userbases like Linux/SteamDeck? Except for beamng (although they have really rare updates) All the big games recently don't give a damn about what the players say, often not even when a big youtuber like goosist mentions a problem. I think what we really need is a game with a closer connection to the developers!
You pointed out good points. Idk why but personally I think they need 1 more year to fix it. Just look at how long they took at last delay, but few work has been done.
Goosiest , bob , samantha thats so true seeing number 1 brought back so many nostalgic memeories those were the best missions i feel they still got alot of work to do before release keep up the great work 👍
I don't have my hopes up for the final release because it is only a few months apart from the demo. Also the problem with the optimisation and online only😤
What a excellent review. Very honest and clear. The biggest differences for me between TDU 1 and 2, for example, is the police persuit. Because in the one, the chases are much more interesting exciting, as the police won't behave as terrorist, driving towards you like if they wanted to kill or explode your vehicle. They took more care on this aspect, which is maybe the more important on a racing game. The feeling of playing it is also special and unique. I won't feel the same way playing other racing games. I don't know how to explain it. This one has beautifull graphics and i even imagine playing a ''gta'' with this graphics, which are cool indeed. The map is something that will bother the ones who are fans of TDU 1 and 2, as the maps are huge!
I’m really sad that SC doesn’t have individual housing and stores instead of that damn hotel. I can let the customization slide as even the older TDU game never had proper customization 😅
I was a gamer since 2005, I quit gaming in 2018 till now, but even in these days TDU2 still stuck in my mind, and I wished if they release a new season, I was surprised today about the new season of the game, very happy but now disappointed very disappointed.
i think its kind of unfair how everybody talks about how theirs no originanality or no risks taken in racing games but never agknowledge that NFS Unboud atleast attempted an original style and took a risk in it. Even if you dont like it idk why everybody ignores that. The game is full of style all through the menus and, story and general gameplay and even has fully original design kits for a decent amount of cars.
they let you test drive, so in theory you can test any car. they could add more gameplay like how gta do like ie buy a nightclub. hope the drifting gets fixed can’t wait to spin round the city on my g290
I know tdu is cleaner in its ideas of cars, but some customizations would be nice. A good example would be the ordering option you have when you buy a brand new car. Still clean and purist but more personalization than now. At least allowing us to remove big racing aero wings if we don't want them on certain cars.
this game is not test drive unlimited, its forza drive the crew: solar crown, also idk if they left that out but, tdu 2 had a campaign sortoff, this doesnt, you arrive and 10 seconds later everyone fucking knows you as a good driver, also another thing, apparently the entire island has 0 cops
My Logitech G920 for me just doesn’t work with it. It steers, but no matter how much I change the force feedback settings it just doesn’t respond at all and is at full force all the time. So annoying!
Personnally I despise the new Hong Kong Map! Main complaint is that it does not load (Might just be an optimisation issue). I'll be flooring it in my shitty Lancia Delta and will get stuck in a non rendered section of road (Meanwhile the AI flies by like nothing is happening) Second complaint is that the map is tiny and basically has two biomes. Once you've been down one road, you've basically seen all of them. You have deserted Asian city, and then you have tiny narrow hill side roads (Which seem to attract every AI on the map when you are trying to cruise[Or god forbid you're attempting a speed trap]) For some reason the AI stops when you get too close... I found that the traffic in the oncoming lane will come to a complete stop, and traffic ahead of you in your lane will stutter until you rear end them. Your point at the end of the video couldn't be more true. Game companies will continue to deliver hot garbage because they know that we are desperate to play anything new these days. As long as companies are allowed to delist old games, they will continue to put in less and less effort into making good products. Gaming has been a whole lotta mid for the last decade, and it's only getting worse...
Play Forza Horizon Five and tune the 1974 Holden Sandman HQ Panel Van. You need a drift tuning with drift tires and a drift suspension and so on. My Holden has 1.750 Horsepower now and a top speed of 324,8 Kilometres per hour. It drifts so good, you can do high-speed drifting too!
I literally played TDU 1 & 2 OFFLINE . I was a kid so it didn’t matter it was Offline . As an adult I would play online more but having OFFLINE as an option is top tier
Pls you must include a part 2 and put on NUMBA 1 : SERVER STUTERING . i was able to make the fastess lap in world but due stutering i lost in the overall time by 0.02 xD
1:07 Dude, if you want a story, that means that you have never played original TDU. Play it once. It is better than second part, many people dislike it just for dark colours of grafics
I heard that ex Forza Horizon developers that have now there own studio Mavericks Games are under Amazon Games and they have a veey nice bugdet (if not a huge one) and they have confirmed that they are working in secret on a open world racing game that will blow our minds and it will be better than Forza Horizon. Maybe it will be a blend between Forza Horizon, The Crew and NFS. Maybe..it is just my opinion that maybe we will get what is great from all this games in one game: car customization like in NFS and The Crew (aftermarket wheels, body kits/body parts, maybe interior customization), performance upgrades similar to Forza Horizon 5 (for example when you install a performance exhaust the sound of the car is more aggressive) and a big open world map like in Forza Horizon or even better The Crew (with suburbs areas, mountain/twisty roads, roads in the forests or whatever for 4x4 trucks and car models that were famous in rally and also 1 or 2 big cities, a highway. I think I read somewhere that the game may have characters and a story, some progession, hopefully. We don't know by now what's the name of the secret game and what exactly is the direction they are going with the game - illegal street racing with some cops like in NFS or festival vibes, having fun driving cars with no Fast and Furios style action and aggressivity like in Forza Horizon and The Crew Motorfest. We also don't know what direction they are taking when it comes to the physics of the cars and the handling - if it will be 100% arcade like NFS or more Simcade like in Forza Horizon 5 (I prefer version no. 2). I always liked Forza Horizon for the physics, the handling and the performance upgrades for the cars and NFS and The Crew for the map and the car customization even if Forza has cool wheels too.✌️❤️
I remember NFS: Rivals being always online as well but I’m pretty sure it’s still playable with the world populated with AI, so is that also the case here?
I’ll say it again and be specific this time, Moza R9, pedals, and shifter do work with the game. Even without official support (this changed, it is now officially supported), the game recognizes the input device as “Moza Wheel Base”. Changing the force feedback settings seems a bit bugged, but i don’t know if thats because Moza isn’t officially supported or if its an actual game bug. Regardless, it does work
@@Goosiest Its possible its just a bug. The first time i tried the R9 i didn’t have FFB either, but i ended up deleting and reinstalling the demo and the next time i tried after playing a few hours with a controller, it had full FFB. Nacon even updated their supported wheels list and every Moza base is listed now so it should be working. Perhaps its a bug with the install, unsure though
I would love if they added cop cars like chasing you or special races in which you were a cop car and you had to chase other players that would be fun as hell
Everyone will forget the important pluses that were always in the old parts. The first motorcycles. There is no news on this topic either in the trailer or in the updates Second, this is the existence of the police game, why have you all forgotten or turned a blind eye to this topic
I just built my PC with quite decent spec 4060 i512600kf, and I couldn't figure out the setting to run this game above 60fps. It's like they set the render distance to max and they render stuffs likely can't be seen as well
I was so excited for this game but now I don’t think that I will buy it. TDU and TDU 2 had this vibe of being this millionaire with all this music houses clothing stores and I loved that all cars had different ui speed and rpm gauges. From what I’ve seen so far this game is more like new nfs games, just another boring racing game.
Ngl, the Ai in XStreet the same as TDU, they both so fucking annoying and unfair, in every race club i do in XStreet there are always Ai cars that keep Crushing my cars
I wonder if they bring back the Auction House, the very same from Test Drive Unlimited 1. I once made sure nobody worldwide could buy the Ferrari 288 GTO. I bought évery one in the Auction House :P They didn't like me much haha.
I don't understand, TDU had one big thing going for them and it was the houses, the apartments, the garages, the dealerships. And they deleted all that. Now it's just a bad Forza Horizon or The Crew.
it feels like trash on t300 to be honest, FFB only work if you set 360 or the wheel is not sync with steering, and I release my gas pedal the wheel become very light which is strange
I’m so glad you made this video. All I can find on the internet are people raving about it because it’s trending, but you just know they’re trying to get likes or maybe even paid by Ubisoft, however you have answered a lot of questions I had concerns about that nobody else is talking about!
