@@cosmic_plant And yes, people in cold countries don't get angry as much as people in countries with Sunshine and warm weather. Cold weather put your nerves to sleep. :D
One small note about the vegetarian thing: it's very much a city/student trend. More rural places still cherish the "traditional" swedish diet which is very meat- and dairy heavy.
Fair point! But I'd argue that that is true in most countries, and that it's easier in big cities in Sweden to be vegan/vegetarian than in big cities in other countries ~
@@FishSlappee Ahh Stockholm… my Sambo is a vegan, all the Swedish culinary delights. Couldn’t wait for the obligatory summer and Christmas in Småland with the svårmor(my failed attempt at humour). There Id get to eat real köttbullar or Jansens. Id even get to speak Swedish!
When I moved to Sweden it took me 2 MONTHS to be able to have a Bank ID and Swish and a bank account to receive my salary. (Even though i got hired by a big tech company here) I was mind-blown of how slow it was.
@@thelocalvibe Bank ID is about 20y old but if you're not a swedish citizen it takes more time to get registered for BankID which you get through a swedish bank. So there are controls for identity, registering at a new bank, probably at skatteverket (swedish tax office) as well. I expect it to be faster than 2 months but dont underestimate time of manual beauracracy, once you have the digital ID of BankID life is a lot more smooth. Salary can however be paid by other means, bank ID is not needed for that.
A friend from Cyprus was commenting it with me, he is a doctor and had to wait like more than two months for his personal number and had to keep using cash lol. It will happen this to me since I'm moving to Sweden soon to live with my girlfriend who's Swedish lol
Another great video! Usually when you get a list of things people like about a country, it's very generic and has a more broad appeal. This felt very personal and unique, but also showed off a lot of things to like you wouldn't think about right away. Also, right there with you on waiting for Japan to open up to live there!
I really enjoyed listening to what you like about Sweden. Someone else has mentioned how other lists are generic and have more "broad appeal" and I'd agree with them. I've seen so many people romanticize the country, and while I'm sure I'd do the same if I were to move there (hell, even when I visit I'm sure), being able to hear a different side, even if they are small things, is a nice change. It allowed me to hear more about what's common there, things I had yet to even hear from anyone who has made lists or a multitude of videos of the country. Anyways, I'm excited all the same to visit Sweden as soon as I can.
I've been vegetarian since I was 15, I'm 23 now. In the beginning, here in Portugal, where I live, it was difficult to find really good products for vegetarians. About 5 years ago a greater variety of products started to appear, but it can still improve. Here where I live meat is still a very predominant culture and is found in many dishes. But Sweden is another level in vegetarian food. :D
“But it’s a nice gesture.” Such a gushing compliment, ABBA. I watched the other RU-vid video of you complaining about Swedes. So it was fun to see the positive side of you. My grandparents were all born in Sweden and came to Canada to farm. You are a lovely young man. It was fun way to learn about your life and thoughts about Sweden. All the best.
Nice video thank you. It sounds like Sweden compensates for the terrible weather. There's something to be said for that. I live in Florida. Probably some of the most beautiful weather in the world as long as there's no hurricane. I have a slightly larger than average apartment. But there is no sound separation. And it's expensive. And there's no safety net for us regarding either healthcare or housing. I'm not sure I would be welcome in Sweden. Even if I were, I might be so Americanized that I couldn't fit in. But your story gave me a moment to imagine what it might be like.
i spent last winter in Sweden up north in Boden, really loved it, the nature and so much snow, I loved watching all the tractors clear the snow, fika is such a good thing to have, its like Tea in UK but more structured, and seeing that princess cake omg made my mouth water!! and yes the flats(apartments) are always warm, its strange not being able to control your own heat, but in the winter there it just needs one temperature dam well HOT!
I like many things to live in Sweden, Beautiful nature Civilised Free Education Free medical Welfare state High standards of life Innovation Cleaness Multicultural society Best transport Freedom Nice country nice people ❤🇸🇪
😂 you’re HILARIOUS as well as informative. Don’t know how I got here at 4am but I’m not mad P.S. I do know… these iPhones be listening to all our convos
Sweden has impressive culture and nature. At the same time, everything sounds very practical, and very organized. For me, personally, a little too much
i'm living in Norway, Trondheim now. and unfortunately its different. after 6 months i'm really thinking about going back home and then to chose another destination.. it's pretty nature here but the cost you pay for that (i don't mean only money) is overwhelming
You start your list with bureaucracy and administration and I'm over here nodding my head like mmm yes thats the good shit, please talk about standing in line next time 😄 Great video!
Yes, about the swish there is an equivalent here too in the Philippines. It's called G-cash, so as long as you have the phone number you can send money to anyone with the app.
I am an American now living in Portugal and I had the good fortune to visit Sweden in the summer about four years ago. it was a gorgeous weekend every day it was beautiful and I took the boat around Stockholm and I stopped at the Abba Museum which was a hoot and a half I loved it Loved walking around in Stockholm and boating everywhere, I think I also visited the castle and had really delicious Swedish food at a hotel I was staying at. I have come true Swede-O ~Phile and when I get my Portuguese citizenship would I be able to move there or are you not in the Schengen zone? But you forgot one of the best things about Sweden are the Swedish people!
One small note about Sweden’s low winter temperatures: Where I live (Skåne) it rarely gets lower than -3 during winter and rarely any snow. Would be cool to see polar bears but I don’t think they would like it down here :) I come from the Balkans which is 3-4 hours by car close to Greece and it gets -20 during winter! So no, not the entire of Sweden is fricking cold. Sweden is a big country by size :)
Help hahahah I'm still not used to your humor. 🤣 Please tell me this isn't the Swedish humor haha I'm screwed if it is! I can't tell when he's joking or serious. 😵
Try living in Ireland I hate it here and I'm Irish. I'm 33 not going anywhere with my life. I can't move out and I'm single. Nothings changed since 2014.
7:25 - at least it's properly labeled; in some stores, I have to harrass the store clerk to tell me the price of an item I may or may not buy - but that's on them for not having properly labeled the prices of their products, so it's their nerves (it's also inconvenient for me since I need to bring said item(s) to the check-out to go through this demistification process) - however, I fear that I may relish too much in this price interrogation and become a sadist.
Looking forward to my visit in April 2023. Will it still be cold and dark? Trying to mentally prepare myself for the weather. Just going to go half way round the world for the candy shops and fika. Actually, it’s my graduation gift.
oh hey, good for you, I hope you like it here! Also, April is decently bright, not to worry about the darkness at all, it's mainly between October/March I'd say. You can look up at what time the sun rises and sets online before you come here if you want to :)
@@FishSlappee thanks, bruh. Nothing like hearing it from a person who’s there-boots on the ground, so to speak. I looked up temps, and it seemed tolerably chilly. But I’m from Wash, DC area, and in April, our temps varied from 40-85F during the day with the odd derecho and small tornado thrown in for a bit of excitement. Pack a hard hat, parka and board shorts for that.
@@georgecornwellv1130 Np nothing to be worried about lol but I don’t know about the future because I am only studying here and I am going home to Japan in August
I was surprised to hear that Sweden is vegan friendly! I would have thought that in a colder region it would be difficult and/or very expensive live plant-based. Shows how much I know! It's very difficult here in the southern part of the United States. It shouldn't be but it is.
Hey when your neighbors are having loud sx..... can you type up a transcript of what you hear and make it available without naming names of course. Thanks in advance.
I might only be 20 years old but i have never actually used an atm, and the in the last half year i think I’ve only whipped out my card a dozen times, I’m always just either using Apple Pay or Swish
It is amazing that you can pronounce words like a Swede with a Swedish accent. With your blondish looks I thought for a second that you were Swedish 😊not many English people can do that.
Well the vegan side was indeed one of my main points of attraction, one well the point? i guess? Thank you for making this!! Thanks convertibles in some channel success maybe? how does this work, should i double comment? not sure, hélas i ain't nerdy at all, but still, tak! 💮
Ok, I'm gonna sound like a dick and word nazi now, but as a fellow Swede I also made this mistake and thought I would just make you aware: isolation = att vara ensam, separerad. insulation = hur mycket värme ett material släpper igenom t.ex. ett hus isolering
May I remind you 1 very important aspect of Sweden you did not mention about? It is the fact that your country is the only one in the world to have a FEMINIST GOVERNMENT!!!
