I know!!! I've been working in fast food for 7 years now, and being told that the $12.70/hr I'm getting paid is a premium wage and if I want to change my availability so I don't have to do opening shifts anymore then I'll be losing a dollar-- when I've been used as one of two crew trainers for 1st shift lately, the only crew trainer for 2nd shift last year and some of this year, and the only foundations trainer for all of this year. . . that on top of long hours with no break or food or even a chance to go to the bathroom sometimes, I'm like, this is my "Why," and this is why I'm worth more than this job can pay me
Here's a harder lesson for those starting out in 2023. Freelance writing is super difficult and crazy oversaturated as a service. Every other kid is a "copywriter" today and clients are on a hunt for writers who'd charge 5 dollars per blog post. I've been there, done all tweaks, got shit nothing and going back to a 9-5. The "online writing gurus" are just selling you dreams. Especially if they're good at copywriting then selling dreams online is super easy for them.
Appreciate the realism of this guy. Logical, sensible, inteligentally simple. Has a pretty good sense of humor as well. I'm hoping to succeed with my quest to make freelancing a career. I've always enjoyed writing, so that's why I want to do this. As I've heard... Enjoy what you do for your career and you'll never work a day in your life. I know that isn't entirely realistic, but there has to be more truth to it then not.
Thanks Jayd! I think there's a lot of truth to that old saying. While there are certainly things that feel like work, and it's not all the sexiest and most enjoyable work, the flexibility this type of business has given me over the last 10 years has been amazing and I wouldn't change it for anything. I finally woke up and realized I have a bachelor's degree-- what am I doing???? This is the second video of yours that I have watched this morning since I woke up with the idea of looking into freelance writing, and I just want to thank you for putting this content out there. It has already given me enough information to begin working towards making this fledgling dream a reality, and galvanized my will to make it happen. (My partner, my soulmate, gives me my allowance on Fridays...ha...) I found your site, after watching hundreds of hours of different sources. Your videos, your knowledge, openness, and excited, yet laid back presenting style, resonated with me. I made the decision and commitment to use you as my teacher. Heck, I am done wasting time going from this to that.
My why would be security, as a millennial who hasn’t always followed the path laid out for my generation, I tend to see the world a little differently. I grew up with that midwestern values mindset watching my parents bust their butts for us to still be broke at the end of the day. While I have a very good 9-5 with a great company, I enjoy writing more than your average blue collar rural midwestern. So if I can do something I enjoy and it pays? Why not? It’s added security for my growing family and let’s face it, if I ever find myself in a bind it beats the crap out of bailing hay :)

How to start is pretty much difficult for me. I love writing. I write stuffs a lot on my PC and my diary. But I don't where to dump them. I always wanna type, I always surf the Internet to check on facts. I love reading books and being online a lot. I will be glad if anyone can just show me the elementary way. Quick question: you've said in a previous video to get testimonials from former employers and family when you're just starting out, but what if your beliefs are polarizing? I've outed myself as gay and now I don't think any of my extremely religious employers and family will give me testimonials. And all my previous employers and half my family believe that way. Jesse, testimonials are just one of many tactics you can use to help build your reputation and get work. It's absolutely not something you have to do. So if there isn't anyone that comes to mind in your life that feels like it's a good fit, then don't worry about it! You can begin to add them as you start to get some work under your belt.

Only “a basic understanding of the English language?” That’s what’s wrong with so much writing on the Web. As a copy editor with a more advanced understanding of the English language, I cringe at some of what I see, even from professional news media. For those with only a basic understanding, please go back t school before you pollute the Web, or find something else to do.
The whole “maybe, maybe not. Stay tuned and find out” gimmick doesn’t work well on RU-vid. Users here tend to prefer brevity and to the point presentations.
