10 Things I Wish I Knew Sooner in FFXIV 

I don't think a lot of people know this, but if you're on keyboard and there's a load of players around an NPC or other interactable, you can hold down the X key. It hides player names and makes it so you can't select them, making it much easier to access the NPC or quest spot.

small tip that does me wonders is in Character Configuration > Control Settings theres an option to automatically skip cutscenes youve seen before. this really helps with farming groups or just simply saving you the trouble of pressing skip during dailies :D small change but i'm happy i found it.

As a controller player on PC who has played since 2.4, it took me until late stormblood to learn that during alliance raids you can cycle through and target other alliance members from the alliance raid list if you hold L1 (or LB for xbox) button and press left/right on D pad. Made life way easier to find those dead healers in other alliances without the need of a mouse. A few extra tips for controller players. You can set macro number #98 and 99 to the L3 and R3 stick buttons. With this you can set your L3/R3 to activate sprint by setting a simple sprint macro or you can ride a mount. L1 + Share (LB + Back) toggles the HUD and L1 + Options (LB + Start) takes screenshots.

Unsynced is also great for weekly journal! Level 90 Summoner can have Bahamut murder Ifrit in 10 seconds flat.

Note about isearch: it only finds items that are IN YOUR POSESSION, either your inventory, retainer, glamour dresser, etc. It will not list items you don't own.

Another notable thing about Transcendence is that it unfortunately doesn't protect you from knockback.

Another couple of tricks when hunting the market boards is to start in Limsa because the Aetheryte there is closes to the Marketboard. Also, if there is one item that you are price comparing between worlds, tag it as a favorite item in your Marketboard screen. Then when you hop to a different world, just click on the little magnifying glass icon on the bottom left of your Marketboard screen. Only the items flagged as favorites will come up and you can quickly price compare an item on that world. I have saved so much money doing this.

Fun fact: I did Ultima Extreme unsynced for Wondrous Tales...and completed it in UNDER a minute. So yeah, unsyncing is great. That said, it has diminishing returns the higher level the content is, so HW extremes/savage raids and most content Stormblood onwards isn't exactly soloable unsynced but often can make for smoother farming runs if you want loot for glamour/mounts/relics/WT.

The moving camera can also help in the second boss in Mt. Gulg from Shadowbringers to see the full boss for the mechanics

Fun fact: Transendence was there before. It just became a visible buff later on :D

Another good tip is getting aetheryte tickets (that make traveling free anywhere) can save you so much Gil and you get them from doing hunts and turning those seals in for them!

Most useful single thing I found was number pad 0. when there is a crowd between you and the thing you want to click on NUM0 will target it and click it. Very useful for new quests on patch day when you can't even see the NPC for all the people.

This one is mainly adressed to european non-english players : If you think your queue times are way too long (i had sometimes to wait for like 1h and still couldn't find a group for the last trial of heavensward 3.0 ...), consider changing the language you're searching in the duty finder settings. Basically you can just keep your basic language, and add english to the list and so you'll be queued with all the people queueing in english, not only your homelanguage - which means you'll be queuing with 99% of players. Everyone already speaks english as the basic language of international online gaming and so you might not see the difference within your parties, but you will definitly lose so much less time just waiting for your duty to pop after the hype got to a climax.

Knowing that actions cancel the invulnerability after res definitely will help me in the future. Just yesterday I died three times after being ressed because I wanted to selfheal-up before the boss ability strikes.

Stupid tip but I use it all the time. You can RIGHT CLICK your GIL COUNT on your ui to cycle between Gil count, MGP count and Seals count. and LEFT CLICK it to open the currency menu.

The camera movement one is basically mandatory for all us lalafell players, in trials and raids xD

This ones for people playing with keyboard. Once youve ranked up in your grand company and have access to expert turn ins, you can turn in dungeon gear and crafted blues and green for grand company seals. If your like me that means u do it tons. num pad 0 in the turn in screen will click on the top part of the list automatically, then 0 again turns it it. If its hq item, itll ask you yes or no, just hit 4 key to select yes then 0 again. Instead of 30 clicks of the mouse moving back and fourth just spam the 0 key.

I had no idea about the ones with the aetheryte, that is so useful for hunt trains! Slowly working on completing every side quest in the game (and reading every single line, yes i'm insane) but haven't catched up with the EW ones yet so that really helps with finding the aetheryte trough all of those side quests!

Been playing off and on since launch and then monthly since just after Stormblood and I've always used the camera adjustment within the options. #10 was a TIL moment and been playing almost 5 years consecutively! Also, thanks for mentioning on #9 that *any* action, including Sprint, will knock off Transcendence. I both saw and witnessed many deaths in the Eden Savage 9 from players sprinting to their spot after rez.

That Aetheryte ctrl feature is amazing. Thank you so much. Saves me from having to do so many quests just to make teleporting easier!

"num 0" is the generic interact button, which means if a bunch of people are standing on a clicky you want to click, "num 0" bypasses the blockage and interacts with the object.

i play for more then 8 years now and i am shocked how many sprouds are left alone right there. so there is a hole system like Players help players ingame. if you are a sproud and come across a player with a crown before the name, pls asked them to invite you to the new player chat. if you accept the invite you have a new chat option where all the mentor-players on your server are in. there you can asked everything relatet to the game like settings, things for better life expierences, helofull shortcuts and more. Joshi P an co knew how hard it could be for the beginners to get in to the game so this way they let the players help the players. right not every mentor-player is as helpfull as they should be, BUT i know there are some helpfull people out ther woh would really like to help you out to enjoy the game!

I'll add a bit more on map flags. You talked about , which shows your current position, and which shows the current flagged position on your map. You can place a flag without using by either using CTRL + Right Click on keyboard and mouse or L1 + R1 on controllers. Those same button combos will remove the flag if you press it again in the same spot. And yes, they are very useful commands for hunts and treasure maps!

Default camera position puts your head on the center of the screen. Moving it up and down basically changes the head position relative to the center. Putting your character lower is great in fights where you can see more of the arena therefore the mechs as well

I'm two tips in and I want to cry. These are the tips I have been searching for. Even Eve Online was not as confusing to me as this game is, and I'm not sure why. Thanks for making this!

For combat (& higher end raiding) - 1. The entire game works on a snapshot/queue system. Slidecasting (the ability to move while on the last 0.5s of your cast time)? It added that you finished your cast to the ability queue, so moving won't break the cast - it finished. Similarly, pressing *any* button 0.5s before it's able to be used will make the game register that you're using that - you don't need to spam your buttons. For slidecasting, put an emote on your hotbar and you'll see when you can move because the emote will grey out and then un-grey out during the cast. For extra busy classes like Machinist or melee's etc, the ability queue is a godsend once you get used to it. This ability queue is also the reason that macroing your entire DPS rotation does not work anywhere NEAR as effectively as manually pressing the buttons yourself - because macrowaits () can only be performed on a full second, and the GCD is (generally) around 2.5s. Other instances of things happening as a result of snapshotting - Tank dying despite invulnerability going on cooldown? Enemy attacks snapshotted before the invuln was applied. Think about things as though they were slidecasting and you pretty much have the timing for the very last second to push your invuln. Got hit by that aoe despite having ran out of it? Snapshotted - and it actually shows you the snapshot zone generally. See people walk back into the fire and not get hurt? Because it snapshotted before the animation - you'll get so used to doing that you'll do it in other games accidentally and die. This lets tanks keep the boss in the middle despite aoe's forcing them out of melee range, and keep the boss facing a direction despite cleaves forcing them out of the front. 2. Melee DPS have positionals. This gives a slight damage boost and whatnot when the melee dps is either attacking behind the target (rear), or behind-the-sides of the target (flank). Hit F1 to target yourself and look at the target circle on the ground beneath your feet - the part of you that doesn't have a circle is the "rear" positional, and the part of you behind the center of the arrows on the lines is the "flank" positional. As tank, as long as you're turning the boss with the melee DPS sitting in one of these 2 zones, you can be sure you're not screwing up their rotation too much. They can see that you have mechanics sometimes where you need to move the boss across the map, so don't worry about them in those cases - just go do what you gotta do. 3. Uptime vs greed. You're not going to be clearing a boss if everyone dies to greed and isn't doing mechanics. If you do mechanics correctly, though, you'll find that the game really, *really* tries to give you enough of the uptime that you need to clear the encounter. If you find an issue with uptime, it's probably because you should preposition either yourself or the boss a little teensy tiny bit better for that next mechanic. This will help *IMMENSELY* with solving players greeding too hard - they'll be able to greed *naturally* just a tiny itty infinitesimally teensy meeny little bit. The sliding scale between uptime and greed is small, but it's there. Put simply? Uptime is braindead, greed is dangerous. Try to minimize the urge to greed.

for Hold-Control up and down shifts. It really is useful for framing for vids and it can be vastly better for streaming too. I find since cntrl-Up gives you a bigger view above you its not just great for sight seeing but during streams it stops your view from being 90% floor for your audience and yourself when in interesting zones and during fantastic boss fights. It also has practical benefits such as being much more aware of boss abilities, whether its just letting you see the cool stuff happening during fights like susano or the many physically telegraphed abilities and sky box indicated boss abilities which become more common from ShB and beyond. You still see enough of the ground to see any indicators ofcourse.

On tilting the camera up and down, I normally do that with commands. /tiltcamera 0 to look at my character(usually to zoom in and screenshot a glam), /tiltcamera 80(melee) or 90(ranged) for combat, /tiltcamera 100 is the max.

1. ocean fishing with website "Lulu's tool ocean fishing" in google search to get ocean fishing guide for best catches and what baits to use 2. teamcraft for gathering items locations and recipes plus it does the math for you how much items your trying to craft 3. I was going to suggest /isearch until I saw you list it. I saw it a couple of months ago on someone's video and its soooo convenient. I used it often when I was running low level dungeons to get my alt job some gear, just typed in the name of the gear and I could see what I already had of the set in my bags or retainers so I knew to keep trying to get that chest piece!

For the Aetheryte map thing, you are my personal hero.

Assuming this is the same on Playstation. L1 is sort of like a shift/alt button. L1 + left analog up - auto run L1 + R1 - Sheath/unsheath weapon / Dismount L1 + share (or touchpad?) - hide HUD L1 + options - take screenshot L1 + right analog - zoom in/out L1 + D-up/D-down - select targets in the enemy list Bonus: L2 or R2 + L3 or R3 - perform boss specific ability

hold shift to adjust your hud elements - they snap easily now making your hud more neat.

Actually did learn a few things from this video. About Gpose only allowing one emote to loop? That's not entirely true. There is a button you can press that opens up a list of all your emotes, so you can select strings of them, however... you can also make a Macro if you have a series of them you want to do as well. /dote /wait 3 /cheer wait 3 /cry /wait 5 /playdead You can have up to 15 lines of text on a Macro and key them to your keyboard. There are also neat things you can do like changing glamours this way /gearset 2 And so on. Party Members can be selected using the F keys - F1 is You, then F2-8 are party members. For Macros (if you have a specific one in mind) you can do to select the player in that slot. I do this for Shirk when I'm doing high end content because the Player 2 position (by default) is always going to be the other Tank in 8 man content. Speaking of the party list - O is the default for opening the social tab, and there is a button there to organize your party. I do this when I use party finder, because not everyone is put in a nice orderly fashion. But you can also adjust where people are on your list. I had a "Partner" in P1S I had to sometimes check on his buffs [or lack thereof], so I moved him to the top of the DPS list for my own convenience. The HUD in this game is HIGHLY customizable so take advantage of this! :D Scroll Lock will remove your Hud and the Home will Zoom in/out of first person view *

How do you do the camera thing on controller?? I’m on console and that seems super handy

Not sure if many controller players know this but clicking R3 puts your camera in first person Also another controller tip L1 and back or select what ever you rocking turns your Ui off and on

The isearch option you mentioned only works for items you possess anywhere: glam dresser, retaiers, chocobo saddlebag, inventory, armoury chest, etc. It will not find items you don't own.

3:02 i wish i watched this video earlier because i did everything solo (with a healer friend) i have social anxiety playing with randos. when i had to do shiva extreme, it was unsynced since i had no idea how party settings worked and since my friend was way overleveled, never told me how to unsync so i can actually learn how to run dungeons. Thankfully there was a scholar who knew the fight well and tried to teach me the mechanics even though I didnt understand what stacking meant :’)

Important note about Transcendent is that you do NOT get the buff if you are revived by Healer Limit Break 3! You will be restored to full health, so it's less of an issue, but if there's a knockback mechanic (that Transcendent would nullify) or something you have to dodge, then you might die before you even get the chance if the timing is off. You also don't get teleported, so if you died in an instant-death zone it's straight back to bed. These are things I take for granted now, but I wish would be taught in-game, even if just in a manual or "tips" window.

That last one is going to change my life, I've literally been using a tiltcamera macro so I wouldn't have to frantically type the chat command to prep for boss fights

I'm a new player, and became a Gilionaire from people who bought my low level weaving, like level 15 armor. I still can't understand why. I buy the low grade material from NPCs and still make an enormous profit. Maybe they're buying the gear for the Glamour..

Just do all side quests instead for clearing path for aetheryte
