Dahmer was not executed, he was murdered by another inmate while they were on duty cleaning the locker room or a restroom of the prison. It was a little strange b/c it was reported that the guard who was supposed to be supervising them left the 2 gentlemen alone. It was also reported that Dahmer did not fight back and just accepted to his fate. Also, the gentleman, Tracy who escaped and what led to Dahmer getting caught was not gay. He apparently was approached by Dahmer to make some money to model for some pictures as Dahmer claimed he was a photographer or a photography student. Tracy testified that he accepted it was b/c he needed the money.

Evan Peters plays Dahmer. Another Netflix series called American Horror Stories (also made by Ryan Murphy) is an anthology series (each season is a different subject) which features a lot of the same actors in different seasons. Evan Peters is a stand out for sure. In one season he played 6 different characters (including Charles Manson) and took a well deserved break the next season. His acting is outstanding.

Dahmer's childhood home near Akron, Ohio was listed for sale a number of years ago. This was the site of his first murder in 1978. He killed hitchhiker Steven Hicks and buried his body in the woods on the property. Many potential home buyers lost immediate interest in the home once they learned of the former owners. It wasn't torn down like the Oxford Apts. in Milwaukee.

It really is a pretty fascinating series, even with its inaccuracies. If you guys like the true crime stories, I recommend on. Netflix “The Innocent Man”, which is a series that chronicles two murder cases that happened in Oklahoma in the 1980s. Author John Grisham (The Pelican Brief, The Client, The Rainmaker) even wrote a book about it by the same name. Definitely worth checking out. Also, for RU-vid, I highly suggest the channel That Chapter. He does great at true crime storytelling in my opinion, and is worth the watch.

HIGHLY recommend you recommend to the West Memphis Three, as they’re known. They’re my age, lived only a couple hours away, but a whole different life. Three “poor white trash” boys who were railroaded for the deaths of three 8yr-old boys, accused of Satanism, etc. It took lots of attention from celebrities-including Peter Jackson making the West of Memphis documentary, but they’re out, although still officially convicted killers. The Arkansas courts won’t look at the evidence that has come out since then, including DNA, bc there are political careers on the line now.

One thing they got right that kind of impressed me was the accuracy of little things. The buses did look like they do in the show in the late 80's, the milwaukee public transit symbol is right and even the scene at a bus stop has the bus stop number and route number correct for the street they were on. Minor things, but impressive that they did their homework. They could have easily just thrown anything in there, being such small details.

Ok, I have some odd ties to this story. I was a child when all this happened. I remember hearing about Dahmer becoming a Christian, because he had been doing Bible studies with someone from my church prior to getting baptized. Our church had decided that he wasn’t fully repentant and had refused to baptize him. So, he found someone else who would do it no questions asked. Years later working as a plumber I got called to do a job in the building next to where the Oxford Apartments building had been. I asked someone I was working with about the situation. It is rather eerie. It’s a vacant lot in a very densely built up area in a run-down area of Milwaukee relatively close to the Marquette University campus where his father had worked as a Chemistry professor.

I watched the Netflix series on it and I came away thinking differently than I did before about him. Now, he was monstrous and what he did was God awful. But I did learn a lot that I didn’t know before. His mother was loony to begin with. What was the number of meds she was on while pregnant with him? It was like 26 medications and she wouldn’t go off of them even when the doctor told her to. His father was deeply concerned about it. Then she treated him horribly while he was a kid and just up and left him alone at 18 and a senior in high school. So much more went on. But I wondered “WHAT IF”. His mom had mental issues, did he inherit that from her? Did the meds she was taking have an affect on him while he was in the womb? What would have happened if he had gotten psychiatric help as a child? His father said he was an odd child. His father also asked a judge to get him help during his first trip to prison. I think there were a lot of missed chances for this guy. But he knew what he was doing was awful so he had to be held accountable and he was. He was at least honest about it when caught. I felt bad for almost everyone involved in this travesty.

It’s generally both Nature & Nurture and the way one process trauma. At different degrees whereas in some cases nature is stronger than nurture and vice versa. Studied and strongly believe that genetics has a major part in where some people are predisposed to develop mental or personality disorders IF the right sort of trauma experienced at the right age. Basically someone may be genetically predisposed to becoming a psychopath but may never become so with proper upbringing. Sometimes even a good life couldn’t save someone from becoming mentally ill or psychopathic, where nature pulls stronger. The brain is so fascinating.

I really feel very bad for Jeff, of all the serial killers, he is by far the most interesting and inspiring. I would have loved to stay with him for some time.

Just finished the series. Evan Peters was amazing as always. If you check out American Horror Story you can really see his range. He plays a different character, all pretty dark, in every season. Sometimes he plays multiple parts.

I watched the whole series I’m 2 days I love Evan Peters. As far as the real crime I was around 12 when he was arrested and remember it well. He was a horrible man and I feel for the victims.

You guys should react to the album "Dahmer" by the Death/Thrash Metal band MACABRE (they are from Illinois and every one of their albums deals with serial killers). Every song on the album deals with a part of Dahmer's life. It is an excellent album.
