I was 16 when I was in my first art show, and I sold piece in the first 5 minutes of it opening. This ended up changing my art because I thought I had to keep selling, and I was just making art for other people, took me a while before I realized what people want is what I want to create. Keep drawing what you love and painting what makes you happy, and your audience will find you. I'm just about to start uni in the UK, would be totally down to do a collaboration (or not :)). For real though, what you're doing is helping people stay on the path of art, because so many people give up. Keep reminding people their day will come!

I feel like most "speed painting" out there is just regular painting sped up through video tools; I would call that timelapse painting or something. Real speed painting is done in real time.

Usually when I post my art on Instagram, my proudest pieces often get the least amount of recognition, it used to upset me and started feeling like I should do what other people want. BUT GUYS DONT GIVE IN! ❤ You're the artist, create what you love to create, and there will always be those who appreciate your work 😊 best of luck to all artists ❤❤

I love this! When I was a young teenager I was on ELFWOOD (yeah, I'm oldish) and I got insulted for a piece I'd done. Someone really tore into me. And I was like, 14. (It boggles my mind when adults just throw a wrecking ball on the creativity of young people. What? Why?) But anyway, this other lady commented after that and what she said has always stuck with me. "Never stop drawing what you love." She also said not to listen to that nasty person. She was so kind. But I've taken that to heart, "Never stop drawing what you love."

For anyone interested: an example of constructive criticism: A) The positives of the image B) What isn't working, (anatomy, a missing line, a color that doesn't work, etc) stated in a way that's easy to understand C) Another positive statement or a positive summary A) The colors are pleasing, I like the composition, I like the character design, I like the lighting, the linework, and/or the shading B) The foot looks like it's on backward, or the legs appear longer than proportionate, there's a line missing in x location, or a shadow is missing (etc)* C) The entire piece is very well done, even with the error it's colored/shaded/composed/etc very well, great work! *B should always be stated in as polite and helpful a way as possible! If you don't know how to fix it, that's all right, even helping by pointing it out is useful. We can't always see everything! Excellent video! I just thought I'd expand on the constructive criticism with a "how to give constructive criticism". Hope you don't mind!

Niki Obermajer being weird is not bad if your getting picked on for drawing at least you can those people picking on you for doing something that is probs your passion if your weird that means your not normal and being normal is boring so if you're getting picked on tell them ok how bout you bring in a drawing you do and then see if I'm weird after that there's a 98% chance that it will be some trashy four finger sloppy hand that took them 5mins so after that they will stop picking on you. You know how I know it will work because it's happens to me and it still happens but I use that every time (every time it's a new person) so if that doesn't work just ignore them chances they are either one of the following: they are jelly, they aren't talented in anything, or they need something to do but if they do that they won't be successful. I hope I helped have a nice day and god bless

'You need to make art for yourself'- wiser words have rarely been spoken. I do art to help me, I've never really put my art out there that much because I do it for me. I've only recently started sharing it. A lot of this advice isn't just applicable to art but every day life. Confidence is necessary in art and life, even if it's not necessarily real, like you said. What goes around, comes around. 👌🏻Great advice my friend, as always. 💛

Just a point of contention: art critique should never come across as mean or rude. If somebody leaves criticism like that, they're doing it wrong. In a critique they should be saying what needs work AND what's already working. That way you know where you went right and wrong.

Being kind to everybody is the best advise ever! You never know who will be a customer on the future. Never talk badly about people in front of clients and welcome everybody! Trust me, from personal experience, it really really helps. I've had customers who specifially came to me because some other artist was badmouthing friends of them and they knew I was friendly to everybody. It it tyring sometimes, and some people really just rub me the wrong way and I'd love to tell them how aweful they are, but keep that smile up because the person watching you two interact might see you and then decide to buy from you. Selling is theatre, and smiling is your most succesful act.

Chloe really inspires me to do better. Ever since I was young I've felt inadequate compared to my friends, who I saw as 'naturally' talented. It's hard not to compare yourself to other artists, especially when you see their art all the time. I never really got into drawing or art too much because I thought I was too old to learn (I'm 17 now), but Chloe's videos really help me stay positive and think more about improving myself and my art ❤

Nubmer 11: Nobody can be/is better than you, art is like handwriting, eveyrone has its own style how they write, same goes with art, it's a type of showing your mind and how your brain is trained to do it, it's showing your own creativity, and no other living being has the same mind as you do because only you see that specific image in your head , so only you can be better than yourself:) That's what i find amazing about art, a lot of people make some stuff and they don't like it, and i'm like mind blown how amazing it is, same goes for me, i may not like my own suff but some other people do :p

I think practice is one of the most important steps to improving in art and, yes, it really does take time so you guys should just be patient and not push yourselves too hard, you need to go easy on yourself. You should create art that you like, not art that people want you to do (unless you're willing to and have no ideas, that is) because if you're happy with your piece of art, then you shouldn't worry too much about other people's opinions as long as you're happy with it. You are a big inspiration to us all. Don't give in guys, stay strong! 😊❤️

Yay so happy to see a new video from you! Your tips are so spot on. The very first one is so very true....I spend hours and hours on a painting and get 3 likes, and I spend 20 minutes on a super fast doodle and get 50+ likes. D: BUT you're absolutely right, it's not about the "likes" it's about the art you wanna make :D I've recently decided to say "f-it", I don't care what other people think, I'm going to make art and videos that *I* like, and if other people like it too, that's cool, you know? It's a hard frame of mind to get into after years of striving to please other people with my art. You're amazing, keep making awesome videos and art!

On the subject of that thing about keeping a sketchbook, practice and improving, my art used to have giant heads that were often times bigger than the shoulders, gigantic anime eyes and for limbs, they were either hidden or a straight line with a curve that indicates the knee or elbow, I didn’t know the first thing about anatomy, and the eyes all always ended up being way to low on the face, and I’m so proud of myself and how much I’ve improved in a year and a half, I’ve even got my own style now, and I owe a lot of that to art youtubers, considering in primary school all of my friends also did incredibly cartoony or anime styles I never really learnt too much on anatomy back then, so huge thanks to all the art youtubers!

I totally agree with the point that you don't need fancy art supplies to be a good artist. Some of my favorite pieces are just made by pencil, and a q-tip (for smudging. it really works!) And my all time favorite piece I've made so far, I used exactly 4 materials: A pencil, a pen, a sharpie, and a q-tip! I live it, and it's so simple!

I find it all facinating. To evoke an emotional response in the viewer, that will make my day! You are my kind of artist. When I was in high school my art teacher told me the same thing . I am self taught. I never say an bad word to other artists .even if their art is bad and they think they are it. I love learning all the time. It's only since 2017 my style grew. As my sons are in university. So I have more time on my hands. It's this year I learned how to do anime and line art . Now I am learning sketching Disney Princesses in alochol markers . Yes it true what goes around comes around. Hello hello! I'm so glad that you've made a video like this. It's a wonderful reminder to more experienced artists and great for beginners. However, I can't help but feel slightly disheartened with the lack of attention my art gets. I've been posting my own work online since 2009 on multiple social media sources (tumblr, Deviantat, Facebook, Twitter, etc.) and i've never broken over 100 followers on any of said sites. I've tried to get myself out there, and while I know very well that in the end I'm only doing art because I love and enjoy it, it's still disheartening. Like if you worked on a cake for hours and hours just to put it out there and see that nobody even bothered to try it. I'm far from entitled to having people pay attention to me, that's not what I'm really trying to say and I apologize if it comes off like that. It just sucks to have zero feedback at all. What would your advice be on the matter on how I could either get myself more recognized by other artists and people in general or learn to accept the cards that i've been handed. I'm still quite young and I have a long way to go in the art world. I totally lack actual experience. But it can feel kind of hopeless when you've been posting your art online for almost half of your life with little to no avail, and just get brushed off when you try to talk to other artists and people or share your work with the. Thank you for your time!

With snowboarding, you're not falling you're not pushing yourself. I think with art if people don't dislike it you're not putting it out there...idk thoughts...I think I may try to do a similar video of 10 things they never told you type video...thanks for this and for the idea!

I just found your channel, and I've really enjoyed this video! I'm starting out with art - I didn't even realize art could be something I could do or create until last year. My Instagram and RU-vid following is super tiny. But I have a lot of passion about the art I create, and it's blissful when I'm working on something I'm excited about. I'm still learning and exploring, but I'm so grateful for RU-vid and learning that other artists journeys have similarities to mine. :) Subscribed! :)

I'm sooo glad you had a fantastic holiday 😁 Dropping little samples of your art work around is such a cool idea👍 I'm curious as to where they are now, if someone contacts you, be sure to let us know ok😊 It's been about 10 months since I've started arting again and I'm just not understanding the difficulty of the concrete wall that I'm having to try to smash through to create what I love😞 I'm working on this conundrum, and hopefully things will improve soon😁 Your creations and creativity are Awesome and but even more,... they are inspiring for individuals like me who sometimes get stuck😏 Thank you for sharing and being as delightful as you are👍👏👏💞😊😉

I always tell everyone about that when starting, people need to and I mean NEED to understand your art is NOT for everyone. Just like we personally don't like everything, there are going to be people who don't like your art. Yes! Also about the art supplies! I always say: A true artist can create anything regardless of the brush. And YES! about being nice! I have told other artists that there is NO NEED to be snobby. Remember art is mostly word of mouth. The way you treat clients and fellow artists can either help you or hurt you. So, be careful.

Literally like don’t bite off more than you can chew. This month I set out to do inktober, a prucan week long challenge, I run two art ask blogs, a normal art blog on tumblr and insta, which is a butt load to keep track of, on top of that I have to do 24 artists in 6 weeks for my a-level coursework bc I’ve been procrastinating. So tldr; don’t make so many commitments unless you know you can do them. If you’re rushing out all this work in such a short amount of time (like me lol) then you’re gonna end up burnt out with a lot of terrible work rather than a couple of amazing pieces

Lord yes, that thing about constructive criticism! I'm pretty relieved to actually find someone that agrees with me there, because it seems like a super impopular opinion with the people around me. The thing is, even if you definitely have to expect some unsoliticed constructive criticism as an artist, because people gonna be people, that doesn't mean it's necessarily a nice thing? Plus, lots of people don't even take the effort to word it in a nice way. But even if you word a criticism in a way that minimalizes the hurtful aspect of it, you have no way of knowing what sort of mental state the other person is in, or whether it will actually be helpful at all at that point in time. Sorry I rambled a bit, but yeah... I'm just super glad to find someone else that thinks this as well.

Once I spent 6 (six) hours on a digital drawing for a friend that had his birthday the day after, as a present (I never make drawings for anyone because I'm lazy), cause I wasn't able to be with him on his birthday for whatever reason, I don't remember, nor I had any money to buy him something. You know what he said when he saw the drawing? "A true friend would've been there with me on my birthday". He was 24 by then. Yeah. This is why I just don't even bother drawing for other people anymore lol I still enjoy drawing for me anyway Anyway, nice video! 😊

Too bad I didn't know you were in Florida, I would have loved to met you in person. Once again, thank you.
