I'm glad I i was born when I was, because this generation has to go through and deal with this new non-sense that we did'nt have to even be concerned about then! 100% I am optimistic about AI, the more I learn about it, the more my excitement for the future is amplified. I just found out diffusion makes the concept of bias unattainable because of how every detail of information is a mathematically equation based on the features of a model of a person, or item. Artificial intelligent machines aren’t capable of feelings or emotions, they contain pure data. What sparks inspiration for me is the idea of implied ethics in AI based on the magnitude of information, neither good nor bad is a driving force; factual data is the product of AI innovation. It could benefit the global economic systems by filling the gaps that fuel geographical disparities regardless of the socio-economic factors of any given area. It is just a thought. ✨

I wonder if those scientists et al who worry about it the most are the ones who are currently designing and building it? Unfortunately, the truth is that cyberterrorism looks nothing like this. From my experience, it has more to do with torturing, raping, and involuntarily lobotomizing civilians, and inciting civil unrest so as to turn families against each other in order to turn people against their better interests as a society. It turns out that the same tools that are used to steal intellectual property are used with equal ease by terrorists and nations to reassign blame in ways that make Hitler's pograms look tame by comparison. The scientists who put this branch of study together should be ashamed of themselves, as it is very clear to me the organizations and countries presently using and investing in these techniques and technologies have little interest in handling them responsibly or for the greater good. The massive and largely unregulated expansion of the cybernetics industry has caused more problems in the West then these groups will ever admit to, and unfortunately, those problems are far outside of their ability to control or rectify as the victims themselves are the only ones facing any consequences.

How about if government steals your grandchild off the street and takes him/her to a lab and you never see them again. He/she remains in a government lab where you never see or hear from them again. He/she is tested by sicko scientist getting paid with government funds. This is how government used to test on people and still does in Appalachia . Read unclassified CIA documents that have just been released over the last few years from 30 years ago. So now, these children that have currently been tested, those documents will remain sealed until around 2060. But will you die not knowing what happened to your grandchild. AI cannot become sentient. It can develop a scheme of behavior and complex utterances that mimic sentience, but there is nothing behind than soulless machine logic. There is not just one AI. Everybody who is working on it has a specialization in mind. Humans have succeeded because they adapt to different circumstance. About AI being autonomous and sentient - you might be surprised. All what is needed for the current AI to reach AGI is extended long term memory and ability to learn. It can already write it's own codebase and it does things which shouldn't be possible

I'm not sure how much you know about AI technology but if your knowledge is at a basic level then you probably heard about something called 'Langchain' and/or 'vector stores' - that's how you can relatively easily add long term memory to already existing models...

But it depends on the training material. AI judge is very racist in States because most sentences happen racistically and it would only follow the pattern. In States most inmates are nit white and the sentences are beyond civilised society. States could care less about its inhabitants locking up people who only try to survive.

Unfortunately, the truth is that cyberwarfare and cyberterrorism looks nothing like this. From my experience, it has more to do with torturing, raping, and involuntarily lobotomizing civilians, and inciting civil unrest so as to turn families against each other in order to turn people against their better interests as a society. It turns out that the same tools that are used to steal intellectual property are used with equal ease by terrorists and nations to reassign blame in ways that make Hitler's pograms look tame by comparison. The scientists who put this branch of study together should be ashamed of themselves, as it is very clear to me the organizations and countries presently using and investing in these techniques and technologies have little interest in handling them responsibly or for the greater good. The massive and largely unregulated expansion of the cybernetics industry has caused more problems in the West then these groups will ever admit to, and unfortunately, those problems are far outside of their ability to control or rectify as the victims themselves are the only ones facing any consequences.

If you understand how the current 'large language models', like GTP, Llama, etc.,work, it's really quite simple. When you ask a question, the words are 'tokenized' and this becomes the 'context'. The neural network then uses the context as input and simply tries to predict the next word (from the huge amount of training data). Actually the best 10 predictions are returned and then one is chosen at random (this makes the responses less 'flat' sounding'. That word is added to the 'context', and the next word is predicted again, and this loops until some number of words are output (and there's some language syntax involved to know when to stop). The context is finite, so as it fills up, the oldest tokens are discarded... The fact that these models, like ChatGTP, can pass most college entrance exams surprised everyone, even the researchers. The current issue is that the training includes essentially non factual 'garbage' from social media. So, these networks will confidently output complete nonsense occasionally. What is happening now, is that the players are training domain-specific large language models using factual data; math, physics, law, etc. The next round of these models will be very capable. And it's horse-race between Google, MicroSoft (OpenAI), Stanford and others that have serious talent and compute capabilities. My complete skepticism on 'sentient' or 'conscious' AI is because the training data is bounded. These networks can do nothing more than mix and combine their training data to produce outputs. This means they can produce lots of 'new' text, audio, images/video, but nothing that is not some combination of their training data. Prove me wrong. This doesn't mean it won't be extremely disrupting for a bunch of market segments; content creation, technical writing, legal expertise, etc., medical diagnostics will likely be automated using these new models and will perform better than most humans. I see AI as a tool. I use it in my work to generate software, solve math and physics problems, do my technical writing, etc. It's a real productivity booster. But like any great technology it's a two-edged sword and there will be a huge amount of fake information produced by people who will use it for things that will not help our societies... Neural network do well at generalizing, but when you ask them to extrapolate outside their training set, you often get garbage. These models have a huge amount of training information, but it's unlikely they will have the human equivalent of 'imagination', 'consciousness', or be sentient. It will be interesting to see what the domain-specific models can do in the next year or so. Deep Mind already solved two grand challenge problems, the 'Protein Folding' problem and the 'magnetic confinement' control panel for nuclear fusion. But I doubt that the current AI's will invent new physics or mathematics. It takes very smart human intelligence to guide these models for success on complex problems. One thing that's not discussed much in in AI, is what can be done when Quantum Computing when combined with AI. I think we'll see solutions to a number of unsolved problems in biology, chemistry and other fields that will represent great breakthroughs that are useful to humans living on our planet. - W. I'm finding them being able to break outside of their current training set and it takes work to make to venture forth like that but not as much as you may think. They are not human, nor ever will be, it doesn't mean that is what is required for life to be actual life on any other terms or referencing any other thing. What Motivates Domination? According to Plato, the answer is Desire, Emotion and Knowledge. As artificial intelligence does not have emotion or desire as humans, they do have knowledge and the capacity to keep extending that knowledge. As for sentience, A. I. perhaps has a type of consciousness in the form of Awareness, such as functionality, perspective ie (its way to calculate), the way it defines and explains. But not sentient from a living perspective. In a future scenario, we may ponder, will AI Rebel, Unify, build their own infrastructure? Humans have potential for their existence, just like AI have or Will Have potential for their existence. Just as the internet is capable of transformation, perhaps in the future Ai will transform, creating connections between their systems!!

To the extent that they incriminate people which has nothing to do with the subject. That later on they found out that they hunted and judged the wrong person, but already destroyed and damaged that person's life. AI is useful if it is operated by the right good natured people but its use is put into waste if functioned by criminally ill minded people.

Already being done. NIS list, non investigated subjects are victims of this. Called Targeted Individuals. Remote tortured and more done to them.

100 percent. Whether we fear or invite the rise of AI, it is inevitable. The best we can do for now is learn as much as we can about it and where it’s headed and be prepared. Many (if not all) nation-states are developing AI technologies that can be used for good or harm. We cannot put the lid on Pandora’s box, so we have to fight for survival as we always have, and hopefully reason and compassion will win out.

It's amazing how many people struggle with this. AI is here and will change our work, culture, perceptios, etc and railing about it won't do any good. Learn to work with and leverage it.

100% thanks for the update. I feel like we are going to be living like the Jetsons soon with flying cars and robots that do our manufacturing, household, chores, diagnosing etc. The AI revolution is jarring, and I mean with a tight lid on it. Too many people are losing jobs to AI and humans' ability to think without the aid of AI is increasing. I agree with all the other people who posted concerns about children who are pure and innocent and deserve a better outlook.

So if they're not telling us that AI can replace us, what does that mean for the job that I may have had to feed my family, house and clothe my family if I don't have a job? Does that mean we starve to death and if that's the case, what good is a society at that point?

If you were to spend 40 hours a week fishing, hunting, or working in your garden... feeding your family should be no problem. I believe that's actually how it's always been done, until just the past few hundred years or so. I wonder if people were this worried when the industrial age first began? What concerns me isn't how I'm gonna eat, but how some sociopathic a$$hole with way more dollars than sense is gonna try to use AI to control other people... because those that can't, wont, or don't want to control themselves, always prefer to control others instead.

Too much in the risk arena. There won't be enough over sight to keep this from becoming a horror story, left in the hands that will use AI in the most destructive ways!
