Do you guys water your cats with a drinking fountain. I got my cat a fountain and now she drinks like a fish and pisses up a storm... in her box. But seriously cats really do prefer drinking running water. It's supposed to help prevent the urinary track infections.

Hi Jonathan! We do have a drinking fountain but Momo prefers drinking from a bowl. We change the water for him twice a day to ensure it stays fresh. You are correct, water intake is one of the most important things to do to prevent urinary issues.

After reading this comment. I got up and changed my cat's drinking water. Ha, 😝🤪, I have to do that more often. I use bottle water, because I have city water, and I do not drink the city water, because it is full of chloride and rust. So if I do not drink it, I do not want my pets do drink it.

My mother used to have a Siamese that would only drink freshly drawn water. She used fill up a glass on water, for him, but other times he would wait outside the bathroom door and somebody came along, At that point, he would jump on the sink and lap up the water as it came fresh from the tap.

That is what I had to do, plus add a little bit of water to my cat's wet food, to keep him from forming bladder stones and infections. He had kidney disease most of his life, 14 years of his 16 years. That's my Noah, in my icon.

I adopted a female Siamese kitten rescue at 8 weeks and it’s honestly the best decision I’ve ever made. She’s not that vocal as some but she’s so intelligent.. so loving and so much fun. She’s literally my best friend. We do everything together because she literally follows me everywhere while dodging everyone else 😂😂 I’ve never had such a special connection with an animal before. I love her so much. She saved me as much as I saved her.

I'm 74 and have cats 'just come to me, never bought one. But they were ALWAYS not Siamese. Sadly, because of moving around and in NO PETS ALLOWED apartments" until last month I had remained catless for rhe last 15 years. So sad without a cat in my old age. BUT last month I spotted a STRAY Seal point kitten roaming in the ivy hedge in our apartment parking lot. OH BOY!!! Within ten minutes I had food, milk and a makeshift carton house by it's home in the hedge. Long story short, my life is full now as this beautiful Siamese lives indoors with me in my previously lonely apartment. She has me totally trained already to be her entertainment, her food provider and, only at her discretion, her cuddler. I like to think that The Universe gave me this wonderful companion here in my latter years. I'm SO VERY GREATFUL.

@BowHead Sully Thank you for your response. As much as I love my little siamese, I agree with you about some non siamese (plain old 'alley cats') those that I have know did seem a bit more ' deep ' and less self centered than these bluebloods. A few of my plain cats in the past have been intuitive regarding my moods and needs. Almost like they were my protectors or my nurses. This current Siamese is very self centered. But what she lacks in personality she makes up in beauty. 💜✌😊

Them being vocal is one of my favorite things about them, so if you're considering getting one, don't take it as a negative at all! Every time you come home, your little Siamese will have a lovely chat with you. I like to think mine was asking "hey, I missed you! Where were you? Did you have fun?" stuff like that. Adopted my Siamese cat after he got hit by a car and his owners didn’t want him anymore. The workers at the rescue said they reported him being destructive and a “bad cat”. I’ve never had this problem though! I think he just didn’t get enough attention, as Siamese really are co-dependent on human interaction and affection. As long as he gets his daily morning cuddles and gets to tell me about his day, he’s a happy boy. Adopting him was the best decision I ever made, I couldn’t imagine life without him now!

She passed away from it ... but didn’t leave me , one night when I was laying in bed super depressed , I felt a cat jump on my bed ( we had no cats at the time ) felt the cat feet walk up my bed and flop down behind my head ( where Mai cat always slept ) and heard her purring ... I knew it was her because she never learned to purr correctly ... the depression lifted and I fell asleep . She knew I needed her and came across the veil to help me . More love I can’t imagine.

All cats, even wild cats, will communicate by a short purr or trill sound. I can teach you: 1) Open your mouth a little and vibrate the back of your tongue like you are trying to "hock up" some spit (I know, eww). 2) Slow the vibration of the back of your tongue until you get a thicker "guuul" sound, almost like a motor sound (make sure your tongue is wet). 3) Continue making the "guuul" sound over and over while you slightly close your mouth. 4) Do not close your mouth completely - shape your lips as if you are about to whistle. 5) Let all of the air escape through your pursed lips with every long "guuul" sound. You should have it! As you get better, you can even learn to "purr" this way!

So Siamese need companions you will have your house destroyed if you leave for hours each day for work and only one cat. Even a dog as a friend will help. @@katielouise2036 I went through the throes of guilt as well once each of them passed. Regardless of how much one does for them (which I’m sure was everything and beyond on your part) there will always be the “but what if I had only...” “why didn’t I...” but those feelings only come from someone who truly cared and loved those fur babies to the moon and back. So you have to give yourself some grace and know you did everything to give her the best, long life possible. I know there is nothing I can say to help you feel better, words are empty when you feel like you’re gutted. What I can say is honor the sad feelings, don’t push them away, it’s healthy to mourn and honor the loss of that life. However, just know that one day you will laugh and smile again when you remember her, the laughter and warmth you feel will far outweigh any sadness because at the end of the day joy and love is what they bring to our lives in life and once they have departed. Be kind and patient with yourself and surround yourself with people who understand what you’re going through, the ones who don’t, never will and are sadly missing out! Once again I send you much healing energy and light your way 🙏🌈💕

Definitely very particular about their routines as well as designated areas. She has places she'll sleep in, places where she goes to play, and places that are for attention. She has a box she likes to sit in and observe, a box she likes to play in (she herself gathers her toys and puts into it), and a box that she likes to sleep in. There are a few specific places where she will go, lie down, and start meowing super loudly for attention. That means come HERE and LOVE ME. She won't always let you pet her, but when she's in one of those spots (one, oddly enough, being the doormat), that's time to come and pet her. Obviously on her own terms.

We currently have a 14 year-old Maine Coon (male, 11 pounds), 13 year-old American Shorthair (female, 8 pounds), 5 year-old American Shorthair (male, 15 pounds), and a 3-year old Siamese (Male, 17 pounds). We got the Siamese because the next youngest cat needed a playmate, as the older two were not interested in roughhousing. Those two young ones got along well, but as soon as the Siamese got too big he started bullying the older two. The Maine Coon is the most gentle cat I've ever seen and I don't know why the aggression is so bad. The Siamese literally hunts him and rips out fur. It's so bad that we keep the Siamese in out basement now, with the one cat able to go back and forth between the two groups.

He told me, but not my mum who was not overly fond of cats and it was our secret until the night she came home. I was thrilled to have her and she was so cute even my mum came round in the end. The American... Ah, I have to disagree about only wanting Siamese once you have one. I've had MANY cats throughout my life, all strays that wandered across my path. Tabbies, calicos, torties, a ginger, two short-haired whites. I now have a fancy pedigree Siamese that needed a home and TAG!, I was it! He's the last Siamese I'll ever own. Not everyone is fond of them. I suppose I am just too accustomed to the basic tabby, street rescue type of cat. Having a Siamese is like having a cat that isn't really a traditional cat. He's a completely different animal than what I'm used to in a cat. No head bumps, no kitty nose kisses. In fact, he HATES being kissed. He moves like lightning ALL THE TIME! I can't count the number of times that he's almost tripped me because of his speed-demon habit of racing across the floor without warning. I sometimes tell him that he's lucky he isn't extremely vocal. I was VERY concerned about that when I agreed to adopt him. But he's probably the smartest cat I've ever had, and now that he's 3 years old, he enjoys lap sitting more and more. He's a great bedtime cuddler too. But yeah, no more Siamese for me.
@usjet333
@usjet333 3 года назад
@@jaytee2642 I wonder though that because your Siamese has been cycled through a number of owners, perhaps his initial rearing has something to do with his skittishness right now. Vets say that a kitten's character is created in the first 6 weeks of its life, before it ever gets adopted. In that time, the kitten will determine whether he seeks and initiates human affection; or just tolerates it; or moves to avoid it altogether. Once its character is formed, while it can be made worse through abuse and neglect, it can unfortunately never be improved. Responsible breeders know this, and make sure newborn kittens get plenty of gentle nurturing human affection, allowing them to sleep in their bed with them, and not allowing small children to tease and mishandle them. This kind of care takes time and attention, which means good breeders can't crank out dozens of litters at a time in kitten mills, but rather just raise one litter at a time. Therefore, high quality pure bred cats are expensive. Mine cost $1000 each 20 years ago. I've had some wonderful rescue cats, but I've also had some real duds. And I'm not discouraging anyone from avoiding rescues. I have deep sympathy for them too, and maybe will get more. I'm just saying getting a rescue includes some risk, because you don't know how it was raised during its first 6 weeks alive. Then, you bring it home and love the cat, only to find out it has some horrible habits, like avoiding people, destroying furniture, or peeing on the carpet. Then what do you do? I'm kind of stuck with it at that point because I'd feel to guilty returning it to the pound only to be euthanized. Spending the money on a pure bred from a reputable breeder who raises one litter at a time eliminates a lot of that risk. Just sayin. Most of my cats have been rescues; I have plenty of adoration for them too. I love all cats. The other thing unique to Siamese is they are a "one-man cat". For whatever reason, they pick one human, and give 95% of all their love, attention, and affection to that one human, and no one else. For example, my Siamese cat George's heart first belonged to my wife. He didn't want much to do with me. Then we divorced and I moved in with my brother. I'm a pilot and am gone a lot, so George's heart belonged only to my brother. Even on weekends when my brother was away, George would still sleep alone on his bed. Even though he was technically my cat, he wouldn't sleep in my room with me. Later I moved alone into my own place, and it was only then, after George was 6 years old, did he give his heart to me. And he's been the most loyal, loving, and affectionate cat to me I've ever known -- a really special cat. So, maybe your Siamese will come around for you. Maybe his heart still belongs to his previous owner and he misses him. But, like my boy George, your Siamese too will give 100% of his heart to you, especially if he has no other options. It's a bit disconcerting, I know. My own cat George ignored me for 6 years. But once I became the only human available, and he decided to give his heart to me, I finally learned for myself why Siamese are so special, loving, and loyal -- the greatest cats in the world. Siamese are truly a one-person cat; you just have to accept that going into it.

And the conversations you have with them! 😂 One if my sister’s cat was very cross eyed, but that did not seem to stop him. I saw him jump and catch a fly in his paw!

I've had 3 Siamese cats, all rescues. My first was a small male from Germany that I rescued from his owners that didn't want him any longer. This was in the mid 70's and he died from what we now call FIV. The next rescue was from an adoption center and she was 5 weeks old and sick. They were going to put her down, but I volunteered to foster to adopt. I had her for 18 years and she had the herpes virus. These first two were both lilac points, the female, Jasmine, was slightly cross-eyed. The Siamese that I rescued in 2002 at one year old, is ancient now. He is totally blind, but gets around pretty well. He is very dark tan with seal points. None of mine have been big talkers, but this last one does more than the other 2 did. When he goes, I will not get another cat as I have 4 others that are in their early teens. I dearly loved all my Siamese. I guess it's safe to say I have always loved all my cats!

While Growing Up, We had a Siamese Cat... His Name Was "CAT" Where to start? He Was WONDERFUL He did EVERYTHING with us. Trips to the Grocery Store, He had different types of Meows to call us. We would play Hide & Seek with us, He would go hide and then Call You when he was ready for you to go look for him, then when you were close, he would jump out at you to scare you then run away. In the summer we would go check under rocks for crickets he wanted to eat. Cat would follow me down the street till I would have to tell him to go home much like a dog. There is just so much more, We Loved Each Other... I Miss That Cat, even 35 years later. Cat was such an incredible Part of my Life Growing Up 😊 🐱 👕❣👕 👖 👖

We groom our 3 Siamese daily and we have been doing it since they were kittens. Even though they really do not need it, they love it. The major reason we started it was because we wanted to desensitize them so they were used to being touched. We also asked friends to come by and play with them. This way they got used to being handled by strangers. We included giving them mock vet exams so they would not be alarmed when the actual vet examined them. They are older cats now but they still act like kittens, just a little slower. Our family loves them and they seem happy. We still pay them a lot of attention but we have a lot of people who are willing to give it to them. These are really fabulous and amazing cats.

We are pretty sure he is somewhere around 7 months old now and have had him since about 3 months old. He is the first cat our family has ever owned and we love him so much, he is called Kahlua. He is so smart and loves to be carried outside for walks and to sit by open windows. I had seen some of your videos before we even adopted him so I knew right away I would be able to train him, I have already trained him to sit and reach up to my hand for treats! We plan on trying to train him to use the toilet, lol. Thank you for sharing your journey with your Momo it has helped me understand my kitty better and how to care for him.

We have a Siamese ragdoll mix and she must be more ragdoll since she is pretty quiet unless she wants dinner. She hates being held or touched unless she comes to you.

My daughter brought home a white Siamese cat, then she left for school, so the cat became, for better or worse, became my responsibility. I like cats alright, but didn’t want one. However, Chester quickly became one I could tolerate - and enjoy! I taught the cat to fetch as well as most dogs (actually Chester showed me his ability) I taught it to sit, lay, stay and roll over; the last two were a work in progress, but still quite quick to learn and remember. I’d swear that cat understood much of what I told it by the way it responded to numerous things I would say during our conversations - yeah, I said it, because it would be hard to not think it so. This white Siamese was also rather quiet.

I grew up with Siamese, and I LOVE them. We have two in our total household right now. But they do NOT like or tolerate each other. My kitty is an Applehead Siamese, whereas my sister’s Siamese is a pure bred. Ironically, my cat is MUCH MORE vocal than my sister’s. Sasha, my cat, talks constantly, and has lots of different sounds, from sweet little chirps to full-blown cat versions of yelling! Of course, she sounds like a loud baby a lot of time, which really surprises people who don’t have experiences with Siamese. My Sasha also has Nystigma too, but we think there might be more to it than that. She will just attack me and others in the house out of the blue and sometimes I think she might have a cat version of Epilepsy. My family just call her “Psycho-Cat because she can go from charming, friendly and cuddly to Monster Attack Cat in seconds. Fortunately, I know her signs and try and teach what to look for in people who want to pet her because she’s sooo affectionate normally. She is unique for sure. But we love each other and she is my nurse, protector and friend and I consider her my greatest companion of all.

Our Momo is also not a big cuddler. He decides when he wants love. Cats will be cats!

My boy is 6 months and he is the BIGGEST baby. Him and my dog Lulu cannot be separated and he screams at the door when I take the dog out to potty until we come back inside🤣 but we did get him very young I think the older they are when you get them the more independent they can be but that’s just my experience.

Siamese are the closest thing to having a human child. The best cats I've ever had were my Siamese babies. My last Siamese (YumYum) even potentially saved my life, when a man who worked for a satellite company came to my door regarding service on my satellite dish. The moment I let him in the door, YumYum came running down the hall screaming in a voice I'd never heard any cat ever make before, launched himself at the guy and sunk in his teeth and claws in (still screaming like a demon). The man went screaming (and bleeding) out the door with YumYum chasing him right back into his van. The man refused to come back out and eventually left. I found out a week later, that the same man raped & brutalized a woman. My darling cat knew... he knew something was off about the guy when none of the other pets even seemed concerned. YumYum had never been agressive to anyone before that incident, or after. He was such a blessing! Siamese love their human family with a passion, loyal to the end, and beautiful inside & out. I've had Seal, Blue, Lynx & flame points, traditional & modern, and they are all wonderful. Once you go Meeze, you never go back. 💕

Siamese cats are not chosen. Siamese cats choose YOU. End of story. My girl adopted me 8 years ago. 😂❤️😻

Well... Momo didn't get much of a choice but he rode back from the vet in my arms and I think we both knew that we were meant to be.

I was lucky enough to adopt a one year old (we think) mom and her two six week old (we think) seal point (we think) kittens in September and they are everything you talk about and more. We couldn't be a happier family...they follow me wherever I go! Thanks so much for the entertaining and informative trip down Siamese Lane!

My Siamese has to be right beside me at All times !,, he’s my shadow,,, when i cook , when I’m in the bath,, when the bathroom 🚽,,, sometimes I feel he gets separation anxiety 😹😹, and yes!,, OCD ,, fresh running water 3 times a day,, or he paces and starts complaining,,, 🤦‍♀️

Absolutely! Momo will cry in a full blown panic if I don't let him into the bathroom with me... And we need to clean and replace the water in his bowl twice a day or he won't drink (while the other cats all drink from the water fountain).

mine does that too i think it's so cute how he waits for me outside the bathroom and waits for me to finish cleaning the dishes to go to bed.

I was adopted by two Siamese mix kittens this summer! I call them my kitchen sink cats because they have so many patterns and colors (everything but the kitchen sink). One is a silver patched/tortie lynx point with white spotting and the other is a patched/tortie point with white spotting! They are wonderfully strange looking kittens!

Hi friends, there was this siamese cat in our appartment complex, and the day I saw it, I fell in love with it. My neighbor posted the other day that she was feeding him, so I offered to help, and possibly to adopt. Yesterday, she and her husband were able to catch it, and contacted me, so I HAVE IT since yesterday night. I adore her/him already!! We are going to take it to the vet on Monday (today is Friday) and hopefully I will be adopting her/him. They called it S'more, I am not sure I love the name, so if I end being his family, I would think of a greek goddess name or a literary character name, bc I'm a writer and I love nerdy stuff like that. I live by myself in this little town that seems to be very VERY conservative and a little bit racist, so finding S'more is making me so happy so far. She (my neighbor thinks it's a she) has been very VERY shy, just in the corner of my living room, or underneath the bed. She just went behind my bookshelf, but I think she will start feeling more and more comfortable with time. I already saw a couple of videos on your channel about Siamese cats, and I feel this is actually a great fit. So, cross your fingers, dear Internet community, so I can keep her, to give each other company. Peace, friends!! (PS, I'll keep you posted. LOL, or you can follow me on IG, I have been sharing in my stories some videos of her. Byeeeee.

Always great when kind people save kitties. I hope she/he is adapting well and getting to know you. I kind of like the name 😅 we sometimes refer to Momo as our cappuccino baby because of his coloring.

Momo is very beautiful! I have a tabby and she talks to me all the time and I just love it! She likes to get up on my chest and get right in my face when I am in bed and then she starts talking, so lovey!
