I am enjoying this episode, thank you so much. Sorry for this book answer, but I am a winemaker and sommelier, so here's some fun facts and clarification for everyone. Sulfites are naturally occurring in fruit and vegetables. There are more sulfites in a bag of dried apricots than in a case of wine. A tiny bit of added sulfur dioxide is necessary for transportation to keep products from spoiling. They are not bad for you in the amount that we consume in all of our food on a daily basis. If sulfites are not added, they are still naturally occurring. (Also, sulfites do not give people head aches; that is solely from dehydration.) There are many other preservatives that large production wineries add to their bulk wines which are not recommended for regular consumption. Smaller producing wineries are more focused on quality than quantity, so your healthiest bet is in the wine at the smallest wineries. Also, in the US we don't add brandies or fortified wines to church wine. That is only allowed in certain countries in Europe, and in ancient times before we had technology, that was the only way to transport the wine without spoiling for those long weeks and months on a ship crossing oceans. Wine has also been used as antiseptic for thousands of years. Red wine has probiotics and antioxidants that are beneficial to our immune systems. In world war 1 and previous wars, in some cases, doctors would actually soak whole organs in bowls of wine to keep them "fresh" during surgeries. If you ever get to California, attend Mass at St Rose's in Paso Robles for good sacramental wine. Cheers to Jesus, the reason we all drink wine ;)

One of the favorites of Filipino priests here is Mompo, made in Spain. The color is similar to St. Michael's Blush, and it's pretty sweet.

From what I remember, it says "contains sulfates" because there are some in grapes naturally, so they aren´t nesecearily added

Our altar wine comes from the Seven Hills estate in South Australia. I have not had the Precious Blood for a while now because of Covid, but last time it tasted like a good sherry. It was available in the supermarket in Campbell ACT (Canberra) because the Bishop lived up the road and needed it for Mass.

Have to say, growing up with church wine, I never understood why anyone would drink wine for pleasure. It always tasted gross. Then I tasted wine that actually was good which got me thinking, if the water Christ turned into wine at the wedding was the better wine, then shouldn’t churches be using the best wine they can for communion wine?

I don't know what type of wine we had at my parish growing up, but it was the nastiest tasting thing. Though- it does mean I never fell into the alcoholic trap has I have rejected all forms of spirits (except the Unseen ones).. Now I know I like fruity white wines, and one other mixer, but I still only get maybe one/half to one glass and I'm good. Mtn Dew on the other hand-- yeah.

You can't just use any wine it has to be red for one

In this video... 20:20-20:25..... Ryan said he was at the Florida Steak House (drinking alcohol) & was feeling a "little" saucy (Urban meaning, recreationally intoxicated) & getting a "little" drunk, then he chuckled a bit?! This is the reason that millions of "conservative" Christians world-wide (both Catholic & Protestant) advocate for total abstinence when it comes to drinking alcohol. Proverbs 20:1 is a great Bible warning! Numerous New Testament scriptures give the warning that those who get drunk will not enter heaven. In modern-times we have purified water to drink & many medicines to remedy any health issues we have. In Bible days, these things were not available. So actually..... drinking wine for health reasons in modern-times is not necessary. The drink in "moderation" idea very easily goes out the window many times.... then Satan takes an advantage! The drinking of alcohol "in moderation" is one of his easiest traps for the Devil to catch people in, because many times the drinking goes beyond moderation! In the video, 21:50-22:15.... birthdays & holidays in no way cancel the clear teaching of scriptural warnings against drinking alcohol in a manner that causes one to be intoxicated to any extent! Taking an Uber because of intoxication is never an option for a Christian. Going into the confessional & using it as a spiritual "car-wash" to absolve being intoxicated.... only to get intoxicated (to any degree) over & over again is nothing more than deception from Lucifer!

Different type of show lol. I receive holy communion the bread of Christ I do not take the wine the blood of Christ I let the father the priest at the altar do that for me. The last supper is water down from the historical point of the painting that da Vinci did. Maybe we can talk about the The last supper the people that were there to sacrifice how Jesus knew Who may betray him and why not just for 30 ounces Silver. I heard theories of power struggles unfulfilled prophecies.
