3:47 Not just the zoom pillows in the insoles, SBs also have a foam zoom layer in the midsoles that normal Dunks don't have, you can see and sense that soft area in the soles. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-cBRpNP2caDc.html
The video notes air cushioning in midsole as a difference between SB dunk and regular dunks repeatedly. This is false. Nike SB Dunks do not have air in their midsole. They have zoom air pod in their insole, but their midsole does not have any air unit.
Hey Seth, big fan of your show! I graduated from UNLV. When I heard that they were going to make a pair of dunks named after my school, I had to get them. I got a chance to wear my UNLV dunks graduation, and walk across the stage wearing them
I recently got a pair of dunks thankfully for retail from JD they were the maroon red retro colour way and personally I’m happy with them. I’ve worn them twice so far and find them very comfy and nice to rock out and about with Jeans and a simple fit.
I saw some new mids not long ago, I was kinda bummed it didn't have the strap. I think it was part of the orange lable line from Nike SB. Now I miss having my aqua and black mids. I beat them up really bad... They were my favorite dunks in general I've ever owned.
The first SB Dunk I hit on was the Polaroid. I love my Social Status Dunk Mid the best of all the dunks I have. The Undefeated Canteen and Samba dunk are also nice.
You may also mention when dunk lows became available via Nike ID, Nike By You and unlocked paving the way for custom dunks in certain regions of the world.
A shoe I’ve always loved but flies under the radar is the ‘Nike Big Nike Low’, it has the sam exact sole as the Dunk, and had a super attractive toe box. I love both the Dunk definitely in my top 3 but I would love to see the Big Lows make a comeback
A lot of the 80's bball silhouettes from Nike were very similar. Kind of like Aston Martin, same base design cues more or less. I also liked the big Nikes, I had a pair I wore into the ground. Let em stay under the radar lol
SBs have also elastic straps to hang your feet inside the shoe, zoom midsoles that are only visible in the middle of the insole (the soft part), the fat thong are variable, some models have thinker thongs like normal dunks and it remains to mention the orange labels.
@@ShynobieX you're a real one. Idk why I've never heard of it before, but I've been trying to figure it out. It's clean. I'm a tall athletic built dude, so for my body type and style I like certain shoe styles and those shoes go hard. Looks like they resell for around 500 in my size. I'll shop around and find a deal. Thanks tho!
@@datharo5 thanks bro! They're goin for around 500 in my size, just looked em up. Might have to grab a pair. With my body type I like shit like 350s, Air Max, ultraboost, etc. I can't pull off bulky shoes very well. But I'm gonna need those.
Koston lows were technically an SB Dunk with a less puffy tongue. The uppers half wasn’t as puffy but the lower portion still was. They also still had straps
I remember when you could buy dunks anywhere for like 90$ there was a point where it went from skater shoes to, the kids who smoke behind the school shoes😂 now everyone wears them
In 85 just like Nike’s Marketing team does now the dunk was intended to be the J1s budget shoe just like every successful signature Nike basketball sneaker does now. Also the air unit was originally supposed to be included but Nike quickly realized that would mean they would be essentially be releasing the same shoe and cannibalize their own sales, pulled the air unit and came up with the collegiate colorway rollout marketing campaign. (The VP of sales is an alumi of my college)
Man Nike dunk was popular wayyyyy before skate boarders wore them ,we was rocking dunks in high school in 96 in the erban scene before the internet, big facts
I’m a sneaker head, i don’t have any dunks in my collection and I’m not planing to have them anytime soon, that’s because i wear all of my shoes(try to) and i look horrible with dunks, so that’s why i refuse to buy any
Also Nike dunk lows were always out even the 1999 Nike dunk lows. Eric koston brought out the Nike sb dunk low THIN tongue for the first time. So it was still an SB dunk but with a thing tongue. It was not a Nike dunk low
I'm done with dunks. They used to be good quality for what it is and was reasonably priced until 2016 when it became hyped. Shoes began to become hard to purchase and quality has definitely gone down the drain. You must be dumb enough to pay for bad quality leather and materials with resell price slapped on top of it. I've since sold all my pairs and now wear only non hyped and comfortable sneakers. Dunks are uncomfortable and expensive for what it is, so nah, I'll pass from it.
Fun fact: jeff staple himself on the complex sneakers podcast said that nikes answer to adidas boost was the dunk. Travis scott wearing the sb dunk lows was a coincidence that cause the hype
