this is pretty much a crash course video to things you should know before moving to Japan!! if there’s anything you want me to cover in more detail, let me know bc I’d love to help you out :)
Actually I’m a bit scared about moving to Japan by myself and for high school and the thing I’m the most scared of is my appearance being foreigner in a Japanese high school I know international exists but i prefer the Japanese ones and so I want to attend one of them but I cannot .
I moved here to japan as an 18 year old college student and things did not go as swell as i thought in the first month but things did get easier and here i am now in the middle of tokyo living a nice and stable life with my amazing friends who are helping me learn more Japanese than i ever thought i could おやすみ!!!!!
How much Japanese did u know ? :O I really want to study abroad and move to Japan but I’m 16 and I’m scared I will be all over the place if I don’t know enough Japanese in time
@@carolineramirez3618 you can take Japanese 101 classes to learn more, but i do recommend learning basic phrases like hello, goodbye, thank you, etc. you can also use an app called *Bunpo* its literally the best.also i knew quite a few Japanese so things like ordering food and stuff like that i knew😁
@@ほし-i7w ohhh ok I’ll def try to do that ! Just a bit worried today since a lot of my schools require the N2 so I might take a gap year after high school before but idk I’ll work very hard !
I recently started thinking about studying abroad and not limiting myself to my home country. I thought of Japan and I'm so glad I found your video. At first I was super happy but then when I thought about being 16 hours away from my family, experiencing homesickness and not having a community I can relate to I started feeling down and really wonder if I wanted to do this but you hoenstly have reignited my hope and I'm going to do some more research. I have looked at some universities before like Kyoto and Akita.. I would love to studying engineering at an undergrad level. I really hope the oppurtunity comes true.
I want to study in Kyoto and I found one of your videos when I was searching! This video makes me so excited to go. I have family out there so I won’t be entirely alone :)
being in japan in japan is great but being in KYOTO as a student? even better (not biased at all hahah) honestly i only have good thoughts associated with being in japan!! lmk if you have any other questions bc i'd love to help you out :)
AWE thank you so much that means so much for me to hear 🥺💖 you're gonna have the best time in japan Takirro! lmk if you have any other questions bc i'd love to help you out :)
@@ManaKimura You're literally SO sweet and I definitely needed this video. I've had a plan to study abroad for TLC and be an English teacher there and every advice given is greatly appreciated! 😊
I have this feeling that you'll gonna be a big youtuber someday and I'm proud to say that I were here from the round one. I can't thank you enough for this wonderful and helpful video 😭 I have my interview for student exchange program next week, wish me luck!
Thank you so much for creating this video content and explaining what you know! I have also applied for Study Aboard in the Fall 2022. And I’m looking forward to directly experience study Aboard in Japan. You’re video really will help me a ton for preparing what’s to come when I go there. Once again! You’re the best. (The person from 1 year later) 🙏
HAHAH don't worry i was in your shoes once too! i literally had no idea how to even buy a train ticket until i moved to japan for college. trust me, it gets easier! there's a lot of apps that tell you which line / train / time to take which makes life SO much easier too :)
i'm starting to think i want to study abroad i'm a pretty awkward person, but i feel like it would be fun, i'm taking Japanese for my language requirement so i know some of the basics of the language but i still have awhile before i have to think about college, thanks for the information though!
Im currently a junior in high school and am homeschooled, once im finished with karate and robotics im looking to study in japan and wanted to start learning about it
Ah that's so cool! I wish I had started learning properly back then. Even now, it's quite hard to discipline myself. How are you finding learning the language?
I love your energy! My husband and I plan on moving once borders open up and I’ve been thinking about university a lot. I want to do some time in language school then maybe go to university idk for what but I’ll figure it out 😂 Thank you so much though, you answered a lot of questions I had! ☺️
Hii I am from India loved your video will be watching you grow this video is way more upper class than others in its range currently I am in high school nd I dream to come to Japan as an undergrad and make cool people friends just like you and bridge cultural gaps
hi! thanks for the sweet comment 💖 that's amazing to hear that you already have such an amazing goal set for yourself! if you decide to study at a university in japan that offers an international department, you'll most definitely meet lots & lots of incredible people from all over the world! wish you the best of luck :)
Considering studying abroad in Japan.. actually it's been the only thing on my mind since my original study abroad plans were cancelled last year March 😩 I'm still waiting to go and delaying my degree all over the place since this year is impossible but honestly I'm so worried even next year March might still be impossible!! In any case though these are super helpful tips!! Did you find it hard to set up the phone plan when you first came or did you have any help?? Phone plans always seem to be complicated even in English!
@@dazai974 there was about one week before omicron when the borders were planning to open and I signed my paperwork... 😅 and now I’m back to having no idea if I’ll be allowed into the country in March or when I ever will be
@@18matcha15 oh dear I'm so sorry for you please don't be worried imagine this like God is testing you(I'm sorry if you don't believe in God I have no other example 😅) he is testing you weather you really really want to go to Japan Or not please don't loose hope if it won't work now apply tor April intake if btw you applying in private or public/government universities? (Sorry for typing this long message)
@@dazai974 Thank you so much for your kindness! 💗 Although my current situation has been difficult, I'm still absolutely sure everything will be worth the wait in the end and things will fall into place 😊 The university is a public university, it's my home universities partner uni. I'm incredibly fortunate I have my dream scholarship from my government that will not be cancelled as long as I'm still a student and will allow me to stay in Japan for 18 months after I arrive.
Hey there! I thoroughly enjoyed your video. I've been dedicatedly studying Japanese for the past year and will be moving to Japan this September. I couldn't be more excited! If you have any valuable tips to share from your experience as a RU-vidr or in general, I would be thrilled to hear them. My goal is to expand my channel and make it a helpful resource for teaching English and reaching a wider audience. Keep up the fantastic work!
I will try applying on MEXT Scholarship next year but I'm not sure if they will accept me because I might complete 12th Grade before turning 18.. Anyways-- this is great advice so I'm hoping that I can be accepted and go to Japan!! I'll ask for help maybe in IG if I already got to Japan :))
Hi! I'm beginning to think about studying abroad in Japan, could you go over expenses - daily and overall - how you chose your university, and time management (university and exploration)
The video was so helpful, thank you so much! Do you have any advice on weather in Japan? I'm considering studying abroad in Fall but I hear that's typhoon season, and now I'm thinking I should try to go in Spring instead.
hi! fall in japan is absolutely beautiful bc of the leaves changing color! but if you're worried about typhoon season i would say that spring also has a whole month of rain called 'uki'. if you go in the spring you'll see all the cherry blossoms!! basically there will be rain regardless of if you end up going spring or fall! haha i feel like regardless of when you go, it'll end up being beautiful & an overall great experience!
In 2024! I am going to Japan at univrsity! I will be on my own at 19 I can't wait but im also nervouse! I'm sure this helped and i will meet alot of people!
ooo good question dilion!! honestly this is gonna sound so cheesy but i wish i traveled more within japan! (esp since it's so extremely easy & safe to travel within the country) also there's a ton of great local restaurants, so i kinda wish i went out to eat more! i def was allocating most of my budget on travel so i rarely ate out! haha great to hear that you're going for a whole year though! you're gonna have the best time of your life! :)
I am still a student but I’ll graduate in about 2 years and therefore, I have to look for some universities to apply. I really want to go to a university with an exchange university in Japan to learn more about the language and culture there. But I feel a little nervous about my plans because I’m quite shy and I don’t know if I’d survive in Japan on my own 😅
just a heads up, if you are studying in japan you cannot get a JR rail pass, its only for people with a temporary stay visa, please correct me if I am wrong :)
I'm planning to study in Japan but I cannot decide which university is "better". Mi school have good relations with CHiba University, Dokkyo University, Hosei University, Kanda University of International Studies (the one that I'm most interested), Kansai Gaidai University, Kyoto University, Meiki University and Sophia University. I'm studying International Relationships and my Japanese is pretty basic so I don't know if someone could give me their opinion (I'm planning to go in 2023)
I'm having a hard time deciding whether I should go to Japan for all 4 years of university or do a year with a study abroad program and then move back to my country after ahh
i was having that problem too 😭 but i think going for all four years and just learning about a whole new culture is so much better than going for a short time and having to wait a while to go back
Hello. Your videos are really so much informative and well described to see. I have a question. Can we go to study in top Japanese Universities like Tokyo University, Kyoto University etc. to study Computer/Engineering? Do these top universities provide computer/engineering courses? Thank you. :)
I’m planning to study abroad in Okayama for a year starting in the fall. I was just wondering if you had any packing advice? Like things you wish you would’ve taken or things you wish you would’ve left behind? Thanks for the extremely helpful video 💕
@@seoulsearcher7628 i’m studying abroad through my home university, but i’ve been studying the language here and will take classes there as well if that’s what you were asking!
I’ll be in Japan for the next 8 months with an working holiday visa. So I’ll be a permanent resident and I’ll get a residency card at my arrival. Is it still possible to get the JK Pass? I heard it’s only for people with a tourist visa
hi alisssa! like how emily and pb squid said, there's lots of options for you to explore! i know a few of my classmates from college actually studied abroad in japan during hs too and fell in love with the country. there's quite a few great programs that you can apply and experience student life in japan as a high schooler too! wishing you the best of luck :)
This video was so informative. I'm looking into studying in Japan. How was the first year of living there when it came to expenses. That's what I'm most worried about.
Wonderful effort, could you be more organised your content little specific and detail about an example like "Train card" $5.00 is it a day ticket or a week ticket or month ticket???
I’m going abroad as an exchange student this fall, so I’m curious, was it easy to make friends ? I’m kinda scared that I’ll be lonely over there 😅 do you have any tips?
Hi! I'm planning to do a year of foreign exchange in japan my senior year as part of my requirements for the university I plan to go to. Are there any tips you can give me for that situation?
Hey I come from a lower middle class family and only one of my parent works and I plan on do a bachelors in business administration (4 year) course do you think it would be to expesive for me with trying to get student loans/accommodations/food/entertainment/books and all that for 4 years? I'm from Ireland by the way and it's the most expensive place to go to college in europe so I was interested in maybe going to Japan for college.
Thank you! this is my first vid that i watched from ur channel and it helps me. I am planning to go college in Japan when I'm going to finish my 1 year senior high school in Philippines. I am Half Japanese also :> I'm planning to take computer science and I'm looking for the university that teaches in English because my kanji skills are not that good. Do you have any university recommendation?
it really depends on what you're looking for! there's a lot of great schools that you can study abroad in japan. if you wanted to be in an environment where there's more culture / nature, i would recommend schools in kyoto (kyoto univeristy, doshisha university, ritsumeikan uni, etc.) if you were looking for more of a city vibe, then tokyo is your place (waseda, keio, sophia, etc).
do you recommend studying in japan with no prior knowledge of the Japanese language? I was looking at Kyoto University and they have UG programs in English in the areas I'm interested in, so I'm considering it, but I've never lived in Japan, don't know the language or the culture.
