The little I know is the circumstance of both being in therapy treatment individually. Instead of seriously doing family therapy. Which is bloody logical since it's the dishonest family situation which made us all sick. Typically, my daughters' mother is seemingly doing fine and is successful in her professional career. it took me almost 5 years to understand what you're saying here. They don't just pick and choose who they abuse. I'd always taken the blame as someone who is difficult to love. But the people who came after me experienced the same abuse despite my warning them To would be good with them for a while. I'd get depressed. It's me. I'm broken. But I didn't unpack there. Speaking from experience, often children of abuse have a strange loyalty and try to earn their parents love. Honor is not fitting of a fool. It took me a long time to learn that and go no contact so I can live a healthy and unhindered life.

My friend is the exact same way. I don’t talk to her often because she’s busy but she is literally the main person helping her ex boyfriend out who left her for another woman (he’s an addict) and now she’s his voice basically. Does she have to do it? No, but I’m proud of her because she cares. Amber doesn’t seem to care and I understand that just not caring about someone and it’s not right. Sometimes people just aren’t good together or will repeat the same behaviors or patterns because they learned them from their family. It’s quite sad

@@mlap1013 absolutely. I think there are stats that say the victim tries to leave multiple times (I think I read 12 but could be wrong) before they actually go. The physical is only part of it, it’s the mental abuse and brainwashing that takes a huge toll. It also doesn’t start out like that, they work you into believing they adore you and love bomb you so you fall in love, have deep genuine emotions. Then the abuse starts slowly and they see what they can get away with. The whole time the verbal assaults keep coming. I heard on more than one recording some of the awful names and things she said to him. And as someone who has emotions for that person they start to take that in and believe it. It wears you down mentally, emotionally and physically. It’s like the whole put a frog in water and slowly turn the heat up, it won’t jump out to safety and gets boiled slowly. As he heals he won’t believe the level of abuse it went to. Just saying as someone who’s been there. This has really been triggering and I keep watching these vids and hoping for the best outcome for JD possible.
