Entitlement is so common in the USA. Kindness and true empathy is very rare when it isn't being done for social media and for narcissistic gains. Walmart is no exception
The best thing I observed at a Walmart? An older woman behind me in line heard that I only had bills with which to pay for my purchase and took out a couple of coins out of her purse and handed them to the cashier so that I could get even change back on the dollar. The interaction even ended with her wishing me a Merry Christmas! A unexpected gesture from a complete stranger that definitely did not go unappreciated! ☺️
Once, while shopping, my nephew (then not quite two years old) fell asleep in the cart. I had to carry him while I finished grabbing the last few items on my list. At the checkout I was struggling to unload the cart while carrying a sleeping toddler. The lady in front of me unloaded my cart for me saying "I've been there, honey. You gotta let them sleep." Now, anytime he's with me while shopping (he's 9 now), we're always on the lookout for anyone who might need help to keep paying her kindness forward.
I was in a Walmart once after a traumatic brain injury and trying to get through a transaction at customer service. A guy behind me got huffy and audibly annoyed that I was taking too long. I got embarrassed, but the cashier told him that I deserved as much of her attention as he did. It really made me feel human. ❤❤❤
I always love that excuse, "It's not my fault I said something ignorant." You know Thumper's Father in Bambi taught me at age 4, "If you can't say something nice, don't say nothing at all!"
The nicest thing I've ever seen in a Walmart is thanks to the local lodge. Last year, the lodge members went to grocery stores in my area for several days before Thanksgiving to help people buy whatever they needed; food, health and beauty, medicine, Holiday gifts, Thanksgiving turkeys, dog food, etc. It didn't matter if you had 20$ worth of stuff or 400$, they paid for as many customers as possible in full for several hours each day, to take some stress and burden off of the customers anticipating the upcoming holiday. My mother was lucky enough to be one of the people the lodge paid for, so she came home super excited to tell us. 230$ worth of groceries taken care of by those who care. It was a very sweet gesture.
On the "Threatening Social Media" incident, I'm proud of the classmates of those two girls that called the police on them. It's so rare of people who know the suspects to step up.
I was grabbing some groceries at our walmart, when a ladies 4 year old child had wandered off. So many customers, and employess of all ethnicity came together to find the child for the clearly upset mother. It was a brief moment of how humanity should be.
One of the nicest things I saw happened to me. I was buying a bluetooth speaker, and had other items as well. I had to pay for the speaker in electronics, and the employee said I could pay for the other things too. Sweet! I noticed a lady behind me and asked her to go first. (This sounds like a ME! ME!, but the good part is coming) The lady paid for her item and when mine was getting rung up, she slid her gift card through on my register. She wanted to thank me for letting her ahead of me. She also said it "wasn't that much". How much? Not so much I felt guilty for taking it, but more than enough to make it worth her time. I smiled the rest of the day.
Well, that's something that will never changes. Not like us here in Malaysia, we lived in harmony despite we here have different races and languages. No offense.
You believe Google for everything huh? Well, in the summer of 2006, the U.S. Senate passed an amendment to the Immigration Law that would make English the national language of the United States. Later the same day it passed another amendment making English our common and unifying language ✌🏻
Not Walmart, but Lidl, Poland. A gypsy boy, maybe 5-6 years old with his mother (or possibly his sister, she looked rather young, could be either), approached this punk teen - with spiked dyed mohawk, studded denim jacket with metal bands patches on, all-too many ear- and noserings and said to him - young man, he would like to ask you some questions. And the boy asked him what he was, what all those patches meant etc, and the guy answered every single question with equal fascination in his voice.
Kindest thing I saw someone do in a Walmart was maybe motivated by impatience, but I saw a lady help pay for an old guy's prescription at the pharmacy once. He was paying cash and seemed to be short, but he wasn't going away, so she handed him the dollar or whatever it was to make up the difference.
For something positive at walmart! A few years ago when my Mom and I were down on our luck we went to Walmart for a few Christmas presents and mainly food and we are looking at the cart thinking okay well we'll just budget later on so we could have a good christmas. But there was a gentleman behind us and he put his bank card down and paid for everything. 🥰 This year I'm gonna pay it forward.
When it comes to firing an employee, even if there may have been (potentially) racist actions or other hate crime like behaviour, an employer is going to go with more basic justifications for dismissal if available. This is simply because while dismissal for hateful actions can often be fought in court, something that is clear, like assault, theft, or failure to carry out your responsibility as an employee are much less likely to be fought, or to get far in court if they are. Basically, a company such as Walmart simply wants to get rid of the employee that committed the act. And they will take the path most likely to do so quickly and efficiently.
I didn't film this interaction but I should have but this is the Karen story of my life... In 2020, just before my birthday, I went to the hospital for heart failure which ultimately resulted in open heart surgery. I got out the 3rd, just 6 days before my 28th birthday and my friend who I was living with at the time had to pick up her medication and I wanted some pineapple juice. It was almost 90 outside so I got out of the car in my state so I wouldn't over heat in the car. I got on one of those power scooters and as my friend was disconnecting it from the wall, Karen walks in and is demanding the scooter I was about to use. I still had bandages over my scars and my hospital bracelet on and this Karen was like 300 pounds. Karen being as entitled as she was said that I was a disrespectful lazy teenager and was wanting to joyride around the store. Both my friend and I explained that I just had an extensive operation four days ago and I am to not be doing anything too physically demanding like walking around in the store and it was too hot for me to stay in the car. She then pulled her mask down faking an asthma attack saying she needs the cart when she can't breathe and my friend said "You seem to be doing OK for using a mask and yelling at someone who just had heart surgery and she's in no condition to be walking around with how our Walmart trips can be." My friend guided me away from her and we went to the pharmacy where the Karen was hovering around us to try and get our information. She the followed us to the clearance and wanted to block us but thankfully they were putting out the Christmas stuff so my friend had me go though it just to cheer me up a little bit more. Cue my petty revenge: I texted my friend that we should shop every aisle to wear down the battery of this scooter. We got me some play doh so I could make some charms for me to sell, picked up a new Paw Patrol DVD, a new movie that sounded interesting, three things of knitting yarn for myself, we picked up some milk, eggs, pineapple juice, apple juice, some nutigrain bars, some fruit and kept being berated by Karen and all the store employees were doing was telling her to keep the 6 foot distance instead of trying to remove her from the situation. She followed us to the car where she demanded my medical information and the card to the hospital I was at and all I said was "You have your damn cart now enjoy your shopping trip" But the battery was almost dead. The store employees didn't do anything but I sure did.
Miss Hicks I’m so sorry you were treated so horribly! NO ONE should EVER be treated like this EVER!!!! That woman needs to be punished to the ful extent of the law!!! Sad! So sad!😢😢😢💔💔
I'm British so we don't have a Walmart but I've had my fair share of Karens and Kens. I'm also Autistic so what happened to me then was hard. The worst one I had encountered at my job at a DIY store, I politely asked this gentleman's two daughters not to sit on the handlebar of the trolley (shopping cart), and I was being polite, professional and was just looking out for the safety of the kids. Well... just seconds after the family went into the store, the father came out and blasted me because of the way i politely asked his daughters to not sit on the handlebar. I tried to explain to him that it was for their safety and that it was dangerous with what they were doing and that nobody wanted them to get hurt but he just wasn't having it and called me a f'ing pr**k. I was shocked and i told the supervisors and one of them was beyond pissed. She went to the father and apologised on my behalf but did say to him that his disgusting attitude was not tolerated. The guy even refused to apologise and then left the store with his family but not the items he wanted to get. I got my first ever migraine after that. I've been working for over 5 years now but what happened then was just the worst.
It’s Kevins not Kens because Kens are part of the Barbie brand not Karen Clan we can’t call Male Karens Kens that’s copyright infringement and offensive Kens don’t have behaviors of Karens morons started that Ken term morons ruined the Barbie brand
I used to work in the Diary/Frozen Food section at Walmart. A Karen (Lvl 9000 haircut and all) came in and freaked at me because she wanted a deal on eggs that was in a flyer 2 months old. I politely and calmly told her that the deal ended a while ago. She lost it and threw at least 4 cartons of eggs on the ground and on the milk cooler doors. Before I could get fired for locking her in the big storage freezer in the back another woman (I would guess around the same age 40s) RAN up the aisle and full on body checked her. Looked at me and said, "I ______ hate Karens." and walked away. I have never seen either woman again.
So much racism. I don't understand it. Why is it so hard to get along with people who are a little different from you? I was raised by parents who taught me that everyone has the same right to happiness and I went to a church that taught me that we are all God's creatures. I don't know what happened to these racist Karens to fill them with so much anger.
Hoosier here, the Walmart in Beech Grove, Indiana (which was discussed in the last entry) is pretty problematic for the sheer number of fights that break out between customers inside the store. It got so bad that the city of Beech Grove filed a complaint against the Walmart corporation as a whole to do something about the fighting.
The sweetest thing that happens to me at Walmart is a young man gave me his motorcart because i was having trouble walking badly. GOD bless lil dude. 🙏💜
Wow! I'm nice and smile at everyone. If I were to witness such ignorant behavior, I would immediately get angry. It would take a lot for me to not get physical.
Stop saying Kens are Male Karens it’s copyright infringement Kens aren’t like Karens they’re part of the Barbie Brand not part of the Karen term Ken isn’t a pejorative term for Male Karen the Internet didn’t start the Ken term morons did that we don’t call Male Karens Kens in the USA it’s copyright infringement

Racism is one of the most horrible of human faults. I'm Caucasian but have seen both sides of it. I lived in the US 'Bible Belt' states when I was a kid, the amount of racism to minority baked right into the laws was and still is disgraceful. For 3 months in 6th grade I lived in South Carolina and went to a school that was >99% African American. Since my Birthday is in February (for those that don't know, Feb is considered Black History Month) I was threatened that if I told anyone I'd end up in the hospital. Among several reason we moved in 3 months.
The best thing that ever happened to me at Walmart was when I was 18. fresh out of the house, and just got my first full-time job. My mom had sent me $100 to get some groceries but it hadn't gone through as fast as I thought. I had a FULL cart of groceries, fresh and frozen foods and my card was declined. Woman behind me paid for my entire cart which was around $100. I cried so hard at her kindness.
9:29 the little lady makes a point but even acts of kindnesss is not returned to those who given it. The world is cruel as a jungle of predators and prey :(
I worry about the same thing happening to my best friend as what happened to the first woman. Bestie is Muslim and one of the nicest people you could possibly meet. Like most Muslims, she would never hurt someone. Some people don't care to hear that.
This happened to me a few days ago. In a store in Valencia, Spain. Me, my mother, an aunt and my dog, waiting on the queue. We had to stop paying attention to the dog to search and pick our wallets. Then a random drunk woman came in, and "accidentally" stepped on my poor dog. Instead of apologising, she played the victim of the situation, and started blaming on us for not keeping our eyes on the animal. Fun thing is, there was ENOUGH space to just walking past us, and since the dog is black, she had a NEON orange harness and leash, so there was no way you couldn't notice her. 🙄
I agree with the little girl! Everyone should be nice and kind to everyone! Young lady you are my hero! And once again out of the mouths of babes comes the true way! You keep that opinion sweet girl and it will take you far♥️💕
I swear Walmart is the breeding grounds for all types of Karen’s……. As a former employee I can say that Karens and kens will argue over 10 cents difference from the price they saw.
an older woman came into Walmart and her husband had just died. her debit card wouldn't work because the bank closed the acct due to her husbands death. two ppl paid for this woman's groceries. the bill was 52.dollars. ppl are good. ignore these da karens
It’s Kevins not Kens because Ken isn’t a pejorative term for Male Karen we don’t call Male Karens Kens not in the USA not in other countries because it’s copyright infringement
The story about that older black lady being attacked by a Walmart, employee, and then stock to on top of it. That’s crazy. I’d call the cops too man and they say you everybody’s paranoid yeah, right
I just try to be respectful of others when out shopping, etc. To me, you never know what someone has had to deal with in their life, so why make it worse for them. It's much better to be happy and empathetic towards yourself and others
It feels like there are more incidents now than ever before. Is it because of social media and technology that we can see them now when we couldn't before?
Okay you know America is insane when something as specific as Karens getting arrested at a Walmart for being crazy people are incidents so common they can be counted in the double digits. That’s my comment. Have a good day.
I believe they actually count the number of items a customer takes into the dressing room in and how many come back out, in order to prevent shoplifting.
