So glad Pillman is getting more attention. His work as a face and heel are absolutely incredible. Being able to go from plucky flyer to maniacal lunatic, he deserves more flowers

One of the things people forget is that in the early years of the internet and podcasts, Brian Pillman was very up on all that stuff. He would go into chat rooms to see what the mood of his potential audience was. He was getting reactions while staying in character. If the bad heart and painkillers hadn’t taken him down, even if he wasn’t going to be a regular in ring competitor, he could have been a great, controversial character. He didn’t need to have regular matches. People were paying to see The Loose Cannon, not Flyin Brian have a match.

Which is why no one buys it when Lexus King says "I'm not my dad" in the first promo he did for NXT. He looks like him, dresses like him, acts like him, other people keep mentioning it in promos...all that's missing is his dad's raspy voice. And you can't really replicate polyps on your voice box.

I wish wrestlers today would still refuse to break kayfabe. Kayfabe was the true art of pro wrestling. Anybody with athletic ability can learn how to do moves, but it takes a special kind of talent to put a story together both in and out of the ring that makes people believe in what they're seeing so much that they will breakout into riots. Kayfabe is what put pro wrestlers a cut above every other type of performer. There was nobody to say "cut". If people could see you, you were performing. The loss of kayfabe made wrestling and wrestlers lose a lot of mystique.

Actually the catt was being out of the bag since 1989, when Vince admited the truth about pro wrestling in order to avoid paying certain taxes and fees regarding combat sports, while also starting to coin the term "Sports entertainment".

Sabu potentially learned too much from his Uncle then. After being taken to the hospital after sustaining a broken neck in that infamous match against Benoit,he refused to say a word. If I remember correctly didn't he make gestures that Paul Heyman had to try and interpret? I know Heyman did the talking either way
