Despite all the magic moments WWE has given us over the years, they sometimes botch the booking entirely. From turning Austin heel at WWF WrestleMania X7 through to all of the WCW Invasion storyline, these are times that Vince McMahon and co totally botched the booking of the show.

Vince took EVERY opportunity to BURY WCW, he only pushed ex-wcw guys if they went to WWF before WCW's downfall, bury Sting, bury wcw's PPV to NXT and even buried the Big Gold, the best looking belt of all time, to a generic WWE title.

Austin’s heel turn was more of a timing thing. Stupid as hell u have him turn in his hometown when he’s extremely over. Another thing was there really was no other credible faces to rival him. Not even the rock who people were starting to sour on when he started going to Hollywood

I think the heel turn wasn't bad. The only issue was there was no credible babyface to face heel Austin, especially with The Rock leaving to shoot The Scorpion King.

I don't think the Invasion PPV was in the tentative plans of the WWF until maybe, a couple of months into the storyline, so in hindsight I don't think Vince could have planned the turn on that show.

Let's not forget two of the worst booking decisions which both involve The Fiend Bray Wyatt: Hell in a Cell 2019 and Super Showdown 2020 against Seth Rollins and Goldberg respectively. Also, Roman Reigns never one back-to-back Royal Rumble matches. He only won in 2015.

Personally, I think Austin did a great job portraying a paranoid, psychotic heel. And he was able to get people to boo him. Look at his promo after Judgment Day and see what I mean.

Hogan and Bret at Mania 9 Babyface Diesel in 94/95 Bob Backlund as WWE champion in 1994 The 2001 Invasion nWo in WWE Goldberg in 2003 The 2006 ECW Relaunch December To Dismember Vince McMahon’s illegitimate Son Khali as world champion in 2007 The 2010 Nexus Invasion The Anonymous Raw GM Miz and Swagger as world champions in 2010 Del Rio as WWE champion in 2011. Bray Wyatt as a whole unfortunately (RIP) Batista winning the 2014 Royal Rumble and not Bryan. Babyface Roman Reigns from 2014 to 2020 Jinder as WWE champion in 2017 The Brand Split as a whole, they treat it like a joke. Kofi as WWE champion in 2019. Strowman as Universal champion in 2020 Miz as WWE champion again in 2021 Big E as WWE champion in 2021 Cody Rhodes as WWE champion in 2024 I would say they are WWE’s worst ever creative blunders.

The Owen situation isn't technically a booking decision. It was a tough call that with the benefit of hindsight was a mistake but in that moment and without said hindsight is tough to say how you'd react in the same spot. I personally feel it was wrong but at the same time there is a reason show business has the saying the show must go on. As stupid as that is.

Roman Reigns beating taker at mania should be on here. It was meant to be a career ending match but Roman was not the guy and put on a horrendous match so they had to undo it. All for taker to have 2 losses now

The invasion was one of the worst - choosing product superiority over potentially making billions! WWE had to win, even when Sting finally came over.

The WCW Invasion never had a chance. Vince wouldn't buy out the contracts of the top WCW guys (Sting, Goldberg, DDP, Hall, Nash, Hogan, Steiner, Flair), so there were only the mid card and lower card guys available.

I don't agree with the WM17 pick. The only thing that derailed that run was that there were no credible faces on his level. Triple H was heel and so was Rock. Taker hasn't ever been the main babyface, HBK was gone, Angle was just not ready yet

Actually Yokozuna challenged Hogan, not the other way around. I somewhat bought this as a kid and remember being happy Hogan got thr belt away from the bad guy but I was totally disappointed Bret lost it and thought it was stupid that the "match" was two seconds long. I saw Bret with that belt at a house show, and high fived him even after he beat Papa Shango (who I was REALLY stoked to see live). So, I guess you'd say he was my champ. I liked Hogan a lot back then though because he was the superhero on every VHS PPV I rented.

I've always wondered, it seemed like 99 SHOULD have ruined WWF, but they got bigger than ever, despite spending most of that year being kinda... Well, inconsistent, let's say. Hogan beating Yokozuna at that Wrestlemania right after Yoko won the belt from Bret was BS. Then Hogan was supposed to drop the belt to Bret at a later date, but that didn't work for Hogan, brother. He didn't think Bret beating him would be believable. He instead dropped the belt back to Yoko. Having Brock Lesnar end the streak was another bad booking decision. Lesnar didn't need that win. If the streak had to end, give the honor to a young guy (like maybe Bray Wyatt?) who could benefit from it.

Austin heel turn in 2001 was terrible . Him teaming with hhh was dumb af . Hhh buried Austin during their feud. Austin never beat hhh in their whole feud 1999 to 2001. Smh

The PPV should have stopped when Owen died. We now know for certain that it was a tragic accident but in that moment it could have been a crime scene. The police should have immediately come in to investigate for possible foul play. Nobody could have known all the details in the moments after.

Going with Bret in 94 almost destroyed the WWF. Of course Vince held onto Hulk as long as possible. Bret, Diesel and Shawn were terrible draws

For me at least I didn't care how The Invasion was going to play out because how the storyline succeed, it's unlikely we would have gotten the Ruthless Aggression era which help bring a lot of fans back to the product. I say this because the WWF's product following Wrestlemania 17 up till June of 2002 wasn't the best.

Something I never hear about with Cena and the Nexus Summerslam angle is what happened on RAW the next night. Each member had a match against a WWE Summerslam team opponent. If I remember correctly, Nexus won all but one match. Try and guess the only WWE wrestler to go over? Cena, of course it was John Cena🙄

Roman wasn’t a bad decision when you base it off how much heat he drew. And how the crowd are begging for him to come back. Roman was star just like Rock from the get go. And the fans begged and pleaded for him to go away… until he did.

Sting vs hhh was an internet mark dream match stemming from wrestling message boards in 2001. I thought the match was great truthfully qw waited at that point 20 years for the nwo to finally face dx it worked i loved it. It was not lazy but sting losing was lazily bad. And arn anderson did say hhh wanted to put sting over vince said no way he wanted the last big star in wcw to pay his dues by losing again bad call. And yeah hogan getting the title at mania 9 is a whole story in its own.

I've just gotta state the obvious according to how I, Bustakita, sees it: Rasslin and its storylines aka kayfabe, was so much more better wen tthere were more different rassling outlets/promotions had people junpimg from this organization to that organization. I won't lie though, my favorite rassling days were the 80s to the mid 2000s (right about 2000-2006, 2007). I loved the NWO, Da Outsidaz, DX, Hardcore Stone Cold. But wen VM decided to literally buy out all the different promotions that's when Rasslin lost its appeal to me. I like a few of the rasslers that are out now 😍 but I'm not as invested as I was long ago.

Wrestlemania 9 was the best ending in Wrestlemania history. The fans loved it when it happened, people still rage about it, and it’s another item on Bret Hart’s list of things to be bitter about. Lord only knows who Bret Hart would be if he didn’t carry his misery around and display it on his sleeve. Still respect the guy, just like I respect the Hulkster, but it’s as true as Hogan looking out for himself (and rightfully so).
