If you commute far and don’t want to sit in traffic, find a fitness studio (orange theory, CrossFit, Pilates, etc.) near your work and workout to kill time while the traffic dies down a bit. This way when you get home, you’re done with work and gym.
@JennaHong

Yesss that’s what so many people I know do! Beats the traffic and can shower there if before work

as someone who graduated in 2018, i completely agree. here are my tips 1) wake up early, go to bed early (prioritize SLEEP) 2) work out in the morning (this helps energy, and you open up your after-work hours) 3) get SUN/GO OUTside DAILY 4) eat healthy (this one is huge, it will help energy levels, and stress levels - sitting all day and eating like sh.t is the WORST combo) 5) be clear and STRICT about your work boundaries - do not be readily available 24/7. this is probably not popular advice, but this is so needed. stop feeling like you OWE your company all your time. you are hired for the time slot of 9-5, not before, not after. i understand sometimes you are needed beyond those hours, but never let that become habit. you will burn out in a very short period of time. 6) create routines outside of work - hobbies, communities, sports, travel, weekend trips etc. etc. 7) understand your levels of social time vs. alone time. dont say yes to everything - PRIORITIZE alone time!!!! 8) i wouldn't trust anyone at work - seriously, i would wait MONTHS to start trusting people at work. HR is to protect the company, nOT YOU. coworkers, are out for themselves 99% of the time, and do not care about you. dont sleep with coworkers, be cordial not overly friendly and never share your personal life with coworkers. i know this sounds really intense, but trustttttttt me it is so much for the better. you can be friends with coworkers and not overshare, you can have fun with friends, and not share private information. dont party with coworkers, never get drunk with coworkers. your coworkers are NOT your friends and its very rare to find true friends at work. 9) organize your email to an excessive level. create folders for everything, and do not delete emails, ever. 10) find a mentor at work who you trust as a professional resource and become a pupil under them. this will help you become a better professional and will help you learn and grow in ways you couldn't do on your own. (prioritize your own professional growth!!) 11) build your network at work, be a resource to everyone but balance your tasks - this will show everyone that you are great at accomplishing tasks and being a resource to the company as a whole - and not just your manager. this takes time to master, so be very cautious at first, but this will get you far. your network is professional currency. the pto tips are good, but i feel thats common sense. idk corporate life is crazy and extremely tiring. a lot of things come with time, but believe me, never let your company make you a slave.

My tip is never neglect lunch or snacking midday at work because for a long time I was a walking zombie because I would eat breakfast before work and then have nothing at all. And then I get home I’m too exhausted for anything else. And now I come home and workout almost every single day because I ate at work. How crazy is that. It’s a minor thing that has a huge impact on the rest of the day!

tip - buy all the ingredients for lunches (bread, turkey, avocado, whatever) and keep them all in the work fridge. make your sandwich each day during lunch instead of trying to pack/prep a meal each day. this also extends to breakfast/snacks

@@JennaHong lets analyse the lies which are world wide believed and origin from masons: lie: schools are of use (fact. schools keep slavery alive and stands for dumbing down the population of mankind) lie: moon and mars landings, (fact: even masons know they cannot leave - earth is closed system, unless you want to drown, there is no other place created for us to live in.) lie: news channels share truth (fact: these are for politic propaganda) lie: voting matters (fact: politic propaganda) lie: money has a value of its own (fact: it is just a tool of this world, which value has been agreed upon world wide, it should be not loved, only used as needed.) lie: NASA lies (globe and all....) (fact: NASA stands for TO DECEIVE and 2 members expose their own lies, one is still alive, the other (Wernher Von Braun) place a clear clue on his own gravestone) - you havn´t searched - have you? lie: the lgbtq++++ propaganda (fact: it is a part of masonry depopulation agenda, 500 000 000 souls, thats their goal - Georgia Guidestones!) lie: Evolution and the dinosaurs. (fact: mankind is not hybrid kind) to keep stating that there was an evolution, then we ain´t humans, we aint then mankind, we are then hybrids. Are you a hybrid? Lie: holidays (xmas, Halloween, new year eve and so on) (fact: PAGAN HOLIDAYS, to praise BAAL, the god of this world) lie: U.F.Os (fact: they are demons/evil spirits in high places, against whom we fight daily = spiritual warfare) lie: rules and laws rule the world (fact: signs and symbols of masonry do) lie: believe in being educated (fact: found daily living with the lack of knowledge) lie: religions are ways to heaven (fact: JESUS CHRIST is only way to heaven. Religions, no matter its name = masonic garbage) lie: our dead loved ones stay around to “ghost” (fact: hunting and ghosting is job of demons, not of humans. We, humans, come from GOD and return back to HIM and all the stories of having been seen a ghost - terrifying, scary, dark, cold - again no job of analysing been done here by you- right?) Lie: Humans have no immune system and we need vaccines as these save lives (fact: humans HAVE IMMUNE SYSTEM and vaccines are created for one or two purpose: to kill or to cripple. If you took all their poison shots then later in life comes all kinds of medical diagnoses = vaccines crippled you - remember that) lie: there is no GOD (fact: There is GOD, who redeems sinners and created us directly from the dust of the earth: Psalms 139:14 (KJV) I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.) to keep claiming that there is no GOD and we aint created directly from the dust of the earth, we soon run out logic, regardless to we place “evolution” in our claims or not and our dead, whats happening to them as they sleep in their graves? - they decay away, becoming the dust form which they were taken, if it ain`t so then we are simply reality deniers. lie: 911 was terror attack (fact: 911 was an inside job, meaning the work of your loved government) lie: Tv watching is of use (fact: television (TV) = tell a lie vision, a weapon for our minds, keeping it under MK ULTRA) half lie/half truth: earth is a stage where everyone plays rolls (fact: earth is stage, a freemasonry checkerboard, where both side, black and white are masons and humans both in politics and regular souls = the naive public gets daily played) lie: children are government to raise (fact: children are parents to raise, it takes 2 to make them, it takes 2 to raise them). Lie: we live already in the matrix (fact: we live since birth in BABYLON which is to become “matrix” as Man - us, must merge with machine aka take the mark of the beast and then matrix aka false reality becomes to be 100%) lie: humans are not intelligent enough (fact: it is forgotten fact, we all are intelligent, many have suffered the illness from this world, being indoctrinated by masons, cause who give us the school system which we have? masons did, because they need slaves. Lie: love is low standers and = lust (fact love is high standard as love means> John 15:13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. Lie> do what thy wilt there is no body who has the right to judge you (fact> GOD SHALL JUDGE YOU AFTER YOU HAVE DEPARTED ON EARTH and Christians are also called to give out righteous judgment, therefore repent * born again * go and sin no more) lie: slavery is over (fact: slavery was never over, it just changes a little as we are no longer buy`d or sold, still prepared through school systems for our future slavery, succumb to our slave lives based on our free will) 24 lies, should i go on? This world ain´t deceived, out there to deceive? 9 - 5 working industry was created, because masons wants slaves. Schools systems prepared us for our future slavery. Wise ones reject this and seek GOD and start relying on HIM fully. it is unwise to count on the governments of this world. Didn´t they proved in 2020 how badly far are they from reality? slavery turn no soul rich, the price for such slavery is opposite: you lost: time (1st 20 years = childhood, then comes 40 years for slavery = your 20s, your 30s, your 40s, your 50s, then comes 50 years of being elderly = 60 - 100) health = all these vaccines, which slowly turns you a cripple + man made fake food ( we are dust and should consume which comes directly from dust) life = no time and no health = early grave Each of us shall lose 3 times, gain nothing more then illusions. When reading THE BIBLE (KJV) and complaining abut the slavery in the past, know then this, that 9 - 5 working industry = slavery of our day.

Love the idea of this video. I remember when i was in a 9-5 making sure I was taking PTO was like THE most important thing to keep my sanity. I think another thing for me was creating sort of mini-goals with my career because through college/school we're always working towards the next "accomplishment" whether it be a grade on a paper or graduation - when you transition to the work world you no longer have things you are working towards, so I think creating those mini-goals can help a ton! This is the first video I’ve seen of yours, and I found it very refreshing! So many RU-vidrs talk about hating corporate and quitting their jobs, and I haven’t found many about working a corporate job and balancing that with hobbies. I have been feeling negatively about my job even though I have a lot of perks - WFH and a great team for example. I just needed some positivity and a pick-me-up, and I think this video is that. I appreciate the reminders about routine and exercise. Simple things that I abandon when I start saying yes to too many things. I will check out more of your videos!

Thank you for this video Jenna! I started my corporate job in 2019 as well and really struggled at the beginning as it felt like I had less time and freedom. During and post covid i was able to wfh a couple days a week and had so much flexibility which helped to fit in free time and exercise. I left that job as I wasn’t learning anything anymore and started a new 9-5 this February gone. It was a real shock as there were new responsibilities, so many admin tasks, and no wfh. It felt like I was readjusting to full time work again and really struggled to give energy to anything else outside of my job 😭 luckily I’ve been able to negotiate a wfh day on Wednesday as my “mid week treat” 🤪 because I truly find it helps so much for my mental health and work/life balance. I also have a standing desk at home (just a cheapy) but I love it because I hate that I have to sit 9-10 hours a day when going to the office. 9-5 work is hard but the things you mentioned really do help. Thank you for helping us feel like we’re not alone! You’re a gem 💖

Super valuable and structured video, I wish I had seen it 7 years ago when I started my first job ;) I would also add - take care of your health - both physical and mental. When you have your brand-new dream job, it's easy to forget that it's not the only thing that matters. I see a lot of people get stressed out and burn out extremely quickly, forgetting that health is something you cannot buy, no matter how much money you make. I've been there, and learned all the lessons and I can say - it's not the best way to start your career. Also, a second tip - find a mentor, either at work or outside of work, who can help you deal with all the thoughts you are sure to have in your first job. Sometimes there may be moments when you just want to let go and quit and you need someone to support you and look at things from a different perspective. Thanks again for this video, I'm sure it will help people starting their first 9-6 job. Take care!

Ok, can I just say the 11mm lens really shines here?! 😍 Great tips for those starting their careers and jobs and I really resonate with prioritizing movement especially for a desk job. When I started, I absolutely hated my commute because of traffic - so I signed up for a gym close to work and I started to head out early to beat traffic and worked out. Then heading to work, I started on the right foot ready to hit the ground running and feeling energized and productive. I found going home in traffic was less annoying because at least I was happy to go home lol. After I establish myself in my company, I requested to come in early and leave earlier to beat traffic. I know not every company might be cool with that, but doesn't hurt to ask if you have a good work relationship with your boss. And now that I work from home and traffic is no issue, I still very much prioritize movement/working out in the morning. Such a great jump start to feeling productive and energized.

Ideally for me would be remote (because I dog sit part time so sometimes I would be at my apartment and other times I could be at a dog clients house an hour away) I also would be more relaxed and not stressed if I didn’t have to commute in traffic or have a specific dress code for in person work 100 percent of the time. It’s been stressful because it seems like remote work is starting to be phased out or it’s a lot of commission only positions instead of regular hourly/salary positions. Plus lots of remote job scams out there(people who want to interview via chat and not video) are most likely scammers(they send you a fake check, ask you to buy something with it but the check bounces after you made the purchase of work equipment.) I’m willing to go in person if the work environment/culture feels like a good fit. I’m an active person so sitting at an office job is going to be hard unless it’s remote and I can do the standing desk thing with walking pad.
@JennaHong
@JennaHong Год назад
I agree I feel like remote jobs have been phasing out too, I would look into the bigger firms that have remote teams that’s what I’m in. But also honestly if you go to an office you can just go to the gym right before or after work nearby that’s what I used to do 💖

If you have a hard time being glued to your desk, take breaks every two hours of work, I have the right of 5 min break per hour so I usually take 15, 15 and 10 minute breaks and of course the hour for lunch. Also working out and feeling sore help me to not wanting to stand up and walk so often lol

Omygod where was this video when I graduated in 2017!
@emmyw1
@emmyw1 11 месяцев назад
I just finished my undergrad in Boston a few months ago and jumped into full-time work pretty much right after graduation. I currently work 6-3 and am remote. Most people in my company live on the east coast, and I'm the only one on my team who is working PST since I moved back home for a few months to be with family. On the weekends, I can wake up at 5 AM and go hiking with no problem and run errands/do chores, hang out with friends, etc., but I swear it's like my body knows I have work on the weekdays and I often get up 15 minutes before work and can barely open my eyes. By the time it's the end of the day, I"m exhausted and only have the energy to cook for my family and then read/watch a show/relax and then go to bed by 9:30 PM. I feel like my schedule has changed so much and so quickly in the past 3 months! In college, I woke up at around 7 AM and could stay up till even 2 in the morning and feel fine... but now my body immediately shuts down at 9-9:30, which makes me feel like I"m not doing anything other than working every day. I want to find/develop a good routine that I can also incorporate when I eventually move back to the east coast and work 8-5 or 9-6. Do you have any coworkers that work remote in different time zones and if so, do you maybe know how they balance their work/life? I'd love to hear some tips! Also, love your videos. They are so helpful and make my day!
@JennaHong
@JennaHong 11 месяцев назад
My team is on different time zones! we honestly just communicate as often and effectively as possible and are mindful of time differences. What specific parts of work life balance are you looking for tips on with the time zones? Definitely after college it’s crazy right…the exhaustion just hits so so so different and you can’t stay up as late as you once did in college. I would recommend the tip in “be organized” for setting up your to do list for Monday on Friday before you log off, so you can support yourself to mentally log off more comfortably on the weekends. If there’s anything else plz let me know 💖
@emmyw1
@emmyw1 11 месяцев назад
@@JennaHong Thanks for your response, Jenna! Yeah, I definitely find myself communicating so so much every day and everyone is very respectful & understanding of my time difference, which I am super glad about. I totally agree with you - setting up that to do list for Monday on Friday is a great thing to do & it definitely clears my mind/gets me amped to start a new week later on! I think I was just curious as to how those on your team that are working different times zones than you (earlier in the morning aka before 9 AM) fit in their workout sessions (if it's before or after work) and also maybe make time for a little hobby or activity that they do maybe... once a week? I was thinking of taking a pottery class, maybe woodshop or painting. Have you tried anything like that? :) I think I just need to give different things a try. See what sticks, see what doesn't and build my balance/routine that way. From your videos, I know you are such an active person and I just WISH I could have the same energy level as you on the weekdays! Can't wait to look back in a few months and be like phew! I figured it out! :)
@JennaHong
@JennaHong 11 месяцев назад
I’m on a later time zone than my team so it’s easy to get the workout in, 7am is 6am for my team mostly. I think everyone just has a different preference in when they workout though, honestly people don’t really talk about when they’re working out they just do it - and we trust that everyone’s getting their work done. Like I said in the video, you have to reflect and determine when your best energy level is during the work day, and go from there ❤ also like I said in the video my friend does a golf league at the end of the day once a week and puts an OOO on her calendar right at 5!

Prioritise your sleep wake cycle. It’s important that we get enough sleep at least for 7 hours. If sleep is disturbed then it affects productivity for the next day. What I do is have my dinner early. And have aromatherapy cold shower after work, at least twice a week. It helps with my sleep hygiene. Reading novels and keeping my devices away 1 hour before bedtime also helps.

I'm gonna graduate at the end of the month. And I've been trying to ddcide for the last three years whether or not i made the right decision with my degree. Now i finally have to decide: do i wanna look for a job or apply to a biology degree and go through college a second time I'm 21 and i have already worked in my field of study the last three years (i studied in a dual degree which is offered in germany) and i like the work. I didnt like the theoretical stuff in college but everything else is fine. I have just thought about the bio degree all the time and now im not sure about what i should do. There is a lot more that plays into this (finances, moving etc) which only confuses me even more Do some of you have any advice or were confronted with something similar? I feel like a lot of people feel insecure about this kind of decisions

How do you have the energy to do all of that? I tried to incorporate going to the gym in my routine but it made me so exhausted at some point I couldn't finish my training anymore because I would be in the verge of crying out of exhaustion. I wake up at 6:30 and I'm home anywhere between 7 and 7:30 pm. I have like 1 or two free hours during the night and usually I just do what I have to do like paying the bills or buying something I need/want. I barely have the energy to read a book.

When I reach home, I'm so exhausted, mentally and physically that I can't get out of bed some days usually by the time Tuesday rolls in I'm fried 😅 Any advice? Any students with a similar routine? This video is really helpful - I wish I would’ve had something like this when I was first making the adjustment. I disagree about a benefit of working corporate is “when you’re off you’re off.” Because in my experience, because we work from home, people expect you to be able to get work done at all hours because you have access to your computer, so “logging off” is really just getting notifications at off hours and choosing whether to ignore them until the next work day or handling them in the moment because you can. Meanwhile, when my fiancé is home from work at his trade job, he’s home and completely off the clock.
@JennaHong
@JennaHong 10 месяцев назад
I’m glad you found it helpful :) I think this is definitely a case by case situation, and depends on the leadership of your team too. My take is yes fire alarms happen when if you get an important notification after hours you should tackle it, but it’s also important to create boundaries with work with or without an office. If there’s an expectation to get work done after hours I think that is worth bringing up having a conversation about how to promote work life balance within that team. Some professionals work in the office and still come home to log back on, so it’s not a black and white work from home situation, more a leadership and team dynamic which can be so challenging to navigate sometimes, I think at least!
