Setting up a Flux Node is not easy and it is very difficult to build a Step by Step Begineers Guide to Setting Up your First Flux Mining Node. Each persons, situation, hardware and configuration is different. But I hope this video of 10 Tips and Tricks to help Setup your First Flux Mining Node Helps! GPU Mining Flux utilizing HIVEOS is a cake walk and easy compared to setting up a Flux Node, so be Careful this process is not simple but in the end it's great to MAKE MONEY from Home with some Passive INCOME from Crypto Mining.

I see a lot of comments below about auto updates. I have 2 nodes. When I set up my first node, I turned auto update on. I had one time that an update took my node offline. Devs suggested people to not use auto update due to this risk. On my 2nd node, I left auto update off. Full disclosure, the auto update has not taken my node offline since that time. Also, typically, you have 2 weeks to update your node before your node will be removed for being on an old version so there is time to update. Checking about once a week for an update is more than sufficient. Also, full disclosure, I am a beginner Linux user. I know enough to be dangerous but have phenomenal google search skills. I had only set up Flux Nodes on Raspberry Pis so the process of installing Ubuntu on a regular computer was different and I wasn't familiar with it. That is a big reason why that portion took us quite a bit of time. Hobbyiest, thanks for doing this with me. I enjoyed doing this with you. And GREAT video. Loved it.

My FluxNode is an old 2011 or 2012 Mac Mini running Ubuntu. I've been looking around on ebay for older mini PCs like Mac Minis, Lenovo m92p or m93p, and Dell 3050 Micro PCs-- there are plenty of low-price options that meet the performance specs out there if you're not afraid risking the used route.

i have just accumulated 1000 flux just to set up a flux node, but your vid is making me rethink that. this is painfully complicated and it should not be. but you may have save me alot of time and frustration. i appreciate your vid, but im probably going to wait till the set up is more user friendly. thanks again

THM I truly don’t understand why it took you guys that long, it normally takes me 25-35min max to setup a node if you get all the pre-requisite sorted before hand, the one major thing that takes time is downloading the bootstrip so all you do is download the bootstrip from the CDN well before you start your install, including sending the 1000 flux to yourself ahead of time because you need 100 confirmation to start a new node.. So honestly I would like you to detail your issues because to setup a flux node all you need todo is press 1, then 2 then 14 if you are using uPNP, answer all the questions and that’s it .. honestly anyone can do it .. I do agree if you try to setup other features during your initial setup it will be a PITA that is why no instructions ever include all the extra features during initial install you do all that after ... for example you don’t need to check the flux discord for update .. just setup Watchdogs and it will also keep your node online and updated as well nothing for you todo .. so yeah watchdog is your friend after you get everything up and you will never have to worry about updates or going offline!

You'll notice that your node will go down and offline randomly. The hope is that it doesn't do this during the latter part of the 12 day queue. One thing to take note of is that the box cannot lose connection. If you reboot, the server, you won't get back in line. If something happens to you main Internet connection, same thing. I recommend doing any maintenance updates right after you get paid out, then reboot once, redo benchmarks, and reactivate node. If you wait too long between payouts then the box will randomly go down and you'll lose your place in line.

Great video! Glad to see the hardware you’re using for it, I was looking for a good mini pc to do this with! My biggest gripe is why does a bigger node get paid less ratio wise. Especially when they’re so different in size. The jump is from 1000 to 12.5k flux! I would like something in the middle of that maybe.

As an additional clarification, the node wallet just needs to stake the flux to the address initially and does not need to continuously run. You'll want to leave the wallet running the first time during the process to sync, but once sync'd 100% and staked to the address, you can exit the node wallet. Everything afterwards really occurs from the nodes unless it goes offline for an extended amount of time. If you enable watchdog, it'll try to resolve benchmark issues automatically. After a few tries it will stop the node for manual intervention.

Possibly a PING network test would be a very basic test to see if your node is up? Should be possible to create a script to automatically run on Windows 10/11 every minute that would notify you if the test failed.

Ive heard horror stories about ETH staking nodes taking your ETH if your node goes offline. Does that happen with Flux nodes? Once I make a cumulus node, can I cash that in and upgrade to a Nimbus node or is it not possible to get your flux back once you create the node?

Is this your first time running any type of masternode? Their masternoding process isn’t that much different than every other coin. You lock up the collateral in a new address, generate the keys, install node, sync it up, bind the key, and run it. It’s your responsibility to monitor it, just like it’s the responsibility of pool operators to ensure uptime and stability. HiveOS is for mining, not for Staking or running nodes. There are many node monitoring options available.

This tip/trick video, although nice, sets a wrong president; the node deployment should not be compared to a mining rig deployment. Flux nodes are not for the faint of heart for a reason - they are not for handling blockchain transactions, which is what the mining is for - and are the equivalent of an AWS server. And if you ever setup an AWS or Azure server, setting up flux nodes are far easier. And it will get even more complicated, once proof of useful work is launched. So this space needs solid node runners, and not run of the mill operators, who will be better of participating in the Titan nodes.
