Hey! 😀
I asked you guys to help me out with the "throwing too high and with the wrong nose angle all the time" thing. As a beginner at disc golf I do this a lot. So I tested some of the most common tips you guys sent me and ranked them in this video (please note that this is just in the order the tips worked for me and I´m not saying one is better than the other). Do what works best for you in disc golf and life in general. Again thank you to everyone who sent in their tips! ❤🤘
Have a great day!😀

The thing I love about this series is that I’m literally out in a field yesterday going “ah…I’m too nose up and my disc is stalling out. I need to throw flatter and more level.” And then you drop a video addressing this within 24 hours of wishing for a video just like this! It really helps to see you as a beginner learning along with me. Keep up the great work, Jonathan!

I like the straight across flat technique. It’s definitely an easier way to keep the most consistent throws. I practice this by holding the disc with both hands out in front of me as I do x-step and then pulling back to throw. Helps get a good idea of how your body needs to be during throw to make disc flat.

The Flatt is definitely a great guide to keeping it straight and flat. But also watch yourself throw, you tend to lean backwards when releasing. Try finishing more forward. Also, the moving over the thumb more inward helps you get a little more turn out of your disk and keep it from fading out soo fast.

@Beaglefaust

The last two tips are things I consider fundamentals. If you're throwing a spike Hyzer, nose-up approach, or roller, then not so much. Obviously it varies. But for the majority of throws.
@Yrian96
@Yrian96 3 года назад
@@Beaglefaust It is kind of the same with different angles i think, you just take the "everything flat barista theory" and angle your torso to match the desired angle, sort of. Except for short nose up shots like you said.

What worked for me and I learned in one of the Pro players teaching videos was simply to have the little bump at the bottom of your index finger on top of the rim so the disc goes in the crack and then you make sure it goes under that little part on the bottom of your finger/start of palm and since then I've had a few good ace runs and got an ace with my putter on a straight 50m hole

The first low reach back and the flat is flat approach both lowered the release point of your throw to rib height rather than shoulder height on most of your throws. Your normal throw pulls the disc across at chest height then lifts the disc 15-20cm in the last 20% of the throw. resulting in you throwing upwards. Either lift your reach back and pull through up to shoulder height(this will be weird and limiting) or lower your release height so that your arm is pointing downwards rather than stright out at 90 degrees to your body

So I have the feel and muscle memory of that action.. and sense you already know how it feels to throw high and low your arm and body will start to find that perfect middle ground which will be flat.

I think #3 worked good, because I do the same fault in my form as you do. I move my hand above my shoulders in the reach trough and "swoop" "air bounce" the disc some times. Getting that high, nose up shot that just stalls out. But I'm working on it. Soon. When my Run Up is fixed.. Like maybe in July.

I am a newbie with the same problem. I find my elbow on the final part of the pull through and throw goes from level and flat to slightly higher than my hand. It leads to then throwing high when I thought I had been flat through the entire pull through. The last bit wasn't. So I need to keep that flat and in line with my hand. Not easy to fix other than practice but I will get there :)

Hi :) Im new to this but old to physics. Im by far a good player but i think im pretty sure about how to "cure" elevation. If you were to think of you wrist holding the disc as an airplane. With the nose of the aircraft as the front of the disc, slightly tilting the wrist downwards upon release WILL change the elevation. Just as a change of the horizontal level achieves either heiser or anheiser :) As long as we are somewhat consistent with our swings and steps, the problem of "too high" goes away really fast.

You should do a dry run movement for every throw making sure you have the disc lined up on the line you want it before each throw. When you're doing that try run and you turn your shoulders your elbow should get to a point where it's bent at about 90 degrees and your forearm crosses your chest. The angle of your forearm here is the angle at which you're going to throw the disc. This has really helped me work on throwing down long steady declines and up smooth inclines because I can just put my wrist up or down relative to my elbow and match the grade of the hill. It should help you with keeping a disc level as well.

What tightening your abs does is it helps your hips tilt into a stronger position, tightening your glutes at the same time strengthens the effect. People who spend a lot of the day sitting down tend to have poor hip posture from weak abs and glutes, and having this weakness makes disc golf much harder.

I'd like to see more on choosing a putting style. I'm working on a KJUSA spreadie putt but I'm more used to a push putt. Not even sure how to do the spin putt or any of the turbo/scoober trick shots.

Hey buddy I'm about 2/3 in your video it's pretty good I would say you need to plant your last foot that you step with I'm pretty sure it is your right if you twisted it all you're going to lose power you need to rotate on your heel after you throw so you don't snap your ankle but seriously try planting your foot as best you can keep the disc close to your chest and Let it Loose

The “pouring cup of coffee” for nose down angle is exactly the reason why Ezra pulls from low to high , as his disc rotates through the pull it is leading with the nose down . He has a video explaining it

Some things that have helped me are more about timing than the actual reach back or grip. Dont pull from the reach back. Pull it toward your chest slow and controlled before snapping it out, if that makes sense. Pay attention to your breath. Breathe in while you run up and exhale through your shot. Dont look anywhere that isnt where you want your disc to go. When youre running up make sure you focus on your aiming point the whole time or you can end up aiming at something else without realizing. I dont know if this helps at all but these are some things that have done a lot for me.

You can not have a good reachback and look forward at the same time.. Slow and controlled - yes, fast and powerful - no..

@@jack-rudiknudsen6040 I guess I wasn't that clear in what I meant. Look at your target until you start to reach back.

Put your bag 30m infront of you and then try to hit it as hard as you can with your disc :-) Reach back low with a tilted wrist (look at eagle) also helps me thinks. Hard to tell on the camera but it might be that you throw high because you throw nose up? edit: it could also be that your weight is on your left leg when you are throwing. So, try to put all weight on right leg and remember to follow through with your arm on the same level that you want the disk to fly (eg not follow through with your arm over your head)

Jonathan btw. You did a very nice vid about history of disc golf. Can you make a history of Latitude 64? :)

Weight on the front foot before fireing with your arm? well its a must anyway but when i sucsess my shots are flat. Also the stiffed wrist pouring coffea thing works to if your really are focusing on it. also pull straight
