I am not affiliated with Autodesk, nor am I an expert in all things digital art related. I just really like to use the product, and if I can help others get into the world of Digital art and find joy in it, then that is my reason for sharing what I know. Also, if you have any problems using the program itself, please seek out the Autodesk Sketchbook Help Site. Enjoy and Stay Creative!

This video deserves so many more likes. The level of instruction and production values are better than most of the celebrated “art bros” on RU-vid and even many expensive subscription products. I can’t believe Melissa’s laying out all this art knowledge for free. I really appreciate her generosity and low-key but no nonsense attitude.

You can always attach an external hard drive - then you can keep your pad clean running fast - I save all files to my HD and only keep apps etc on ipad

This video is AWESOME. Thank you so much! Love seeing all the different ways you utilise sketchbook to bring in traditional painting techniques. Your tips are also mostly transferrable to the sketchbook pro desktop version, though of course the exact locations and look at the tools are a little different. Thank you for taking the time to make this!

Another fantastic tutorial, thank you so much! It's great for new artists like myself cause I have only made a small investment so far in digital art and it came with auto desk, so thank you so much for all these tips!

Omg your work Is so amazing 😭😭seriously under-rated. I can't even draw stick ppl lol but I'm trying to create leopard print brushes where I can change the color and whatnot is this even possible?
@MelissaBergIllustration
@MelissaBergIllustration 3 года назад
Thank you ☺️ There are ways you can do that. Other programs like Procreate let you download brushes that others have created. Sketchbook for desktop does let you do this as well. You can also create brushes from photos in the desktop version which is really good for cool textures and patterns. The iPad version however it gets a little tricky. You could play around with brush settings and try to create the pattern yourself in black and white or gray scale and then duplicate the layer. Then once you have enough of the pattern that you want, merge it all onto one layer and then either play with the color adjustment or turn the blend mode to overlay and paint your preferred color on a layer underneath. Sounds complicated but you kind of have to think of Sketchbook almost the way you would using real paint and pencil. Procreate isn’t free but I’m sure there is a free leopard print brush out there you could download into procreate 😉 Hope this helps

Great tutorials, saved this one to watch for later😊 Wondering about that intro though, how did you make it? It's truly amazing!

Thank you. For the intro I used Apple Motion and edited one of the templates it comes with to use my images instead of the default ink image. I also added frames to slow it down.

Tejaswi Chalamalasetti When you tap the layer it brings up the options panel. Opacity is there.

This video is great! But Autodesk sketch only allows me to create documents up to 9000x5000. When I try 5400x8100 the numbers turn red and it doesn’t allow me to create the document. Why is that?
@MelissaBergIllustration
@MelissaBergIllustration 3 года назад
Silver D. Golden Strange, I’ve never had that happen. And no one else has mentioned... My guess is it’s a space issue. It’s possible that your iPad or even the app itself is not able to allocate enough memory to a document that size. Are you using a different tablet? Or a phone? It’s also possible that there are restrictions on other devices. 9000x5000 is a pretty good size. Maybe calculate the pixel ratio for your size at 250dpi and see what that gives you. It should still be possible to get finer detail. You might run into lag issues when adding layers, but if you are economical with your layers, merging some of them and so on as you go, that should help. Hope this helps! Good luck 😉

I have a problem I can create a skectch more than 5400x6600
@MelissaBergIllustration
@MelissaBergIllustration 3 года назад
That’s ok. It might depend on how much space your device has. That is still a large document. If you know the dimensions you want, use 200 or even 250 dpi when calculating your pixel dimensions. That will be smaller numbers but still large enough for print quality and for zooming in to draw fine detail

Melissa Berg is 5400x6600 still good?
