Got a Meniskus tear and missing th coming wither, so I'm appreciating all the comments and r covers storiea from you chiss and all you guys! Stay stoked !
Absolutley agreed! I love doing yoga before just about anything physical I do. It's so incredibly important to stretch. Do you think your knee is 100% at this point or close? I have PT for my ankle and my Doc says I can ride just fine this year! I'm super stoked, but taking it slow... my first ride back is gonna be at Skyline Bear Valley in California on the first of the year.
Thank you so much for this video, just had a level 3 PCL injury and needed to see if possible to snowboard again. Sage advice - made me feel really positive, even if it was posted 5 years ago 😂
Haha I was wondering how you felt after that crazy day in the trees with those guys. I'm recovering from an ACL/Meniscus reconstruction so I'm really appreciating this content. It's great to see you back on the snow! Keep the vids coming bro
A lot of these tips are great in a general sense, not just after injuries, in particular for people who don't live near a resort and can only go a couple of times a year on vacation.
I tore my PCL in a car accident 15 years ago. Tried skiing about 8 months later and it was very uncomfortable. Decided to give up on the mountain snow sports for good. I'd never been into snowboarding. Thought it would also cause me pain. However, I tried snowboarding last week and it didn't bother me at all. Most of the weight is on my right leg, not my injured left knee. No pain or discomfort. Now I'm hooked.
That's great to hear! Just keep in mind when riding you do want to weight quite central. Similar to skis is your weight is too much over the nose or tail it will make it more difficult. I found for myself it wasn't so much the strength or discomfort, but mentally I would do things to protect my l knee but would cause me lose control. It's been a slow but steady process of incrementally challenging the strength of my knee and my subconscious response to it. Hope this helps
I really believe your channel will growth fast, just keep working, maybe a better quality cam, but video edition and music are on point, but at the end you are the real deal here :) Keep the good work!
These are good first day of the season tips, too. I did my first laps of the season, had crazy weather up top, took it "easy", felt new boot shin issues and muscles getting tired, so more breaks. I warmed down via a hot tub :)
@@ChrisEyres I was wrong. Epic mix said 3hrs for 17.6k vertical feet, 16 lifts. SkiTracks said I was going pretty fast in the fog. No wonder why I'm sore.
Great video Chris! Great to have you back and I’m glad you’re such a sensible Zen guy! Awesome to see you rocking the Airbrake XLs as well 🙌 Happy Shredding brother 👌
This is a great video. I really like all the informative tips and the way you lay everything out in the video is first class for sure. Way to go Chris!
Hi Chris, I am coming back to the mountain to snowboarding in a couple of weeks, I got acl and meniscus reconstruction 11 months ago, thanks for the information, I really appreciate that, keep enjoying the mountains :)
Thanks Ingrid, so sorry for the late reply. How did it go? Are you planning on going back? It was quite a long road for me, some days good, other not. But now my knee feels as strong as it’s been on the last 10 years. Hope you success with your recovery! All the best
Thanks Chris, liked your vlog. Had a knee injury on off for the past year ive found using KT tape with knee pads seem to help me on the snow.. BTW hope I can meet you as coming to Whistler with the family next week and will be boarding with my daughter.
Tore my ACL MCL and meniscus a year ago during a college soccer game. I’m so excited to get back into snowboarding, at much smaller resorts than this (hi from Ohio!) so I’m a little nervous about the snow we get, as it’s never really fluffy. Thanks for these tips, I’ve been worrying daily!
i’ve done it twice. my second surgery was in december of 2017. i’ve been lackadaisical with the rehab i’m going to really get my knee stronger so i can go for next season
@@seth5394 how was your season? I have been through rehab 2-3 times a day with occasional gym trips 1-2 times a week. This season for me was great, I had no problems with my knee other than sometimes feeling it tightening when it’s colder. Of course I wore my ACL brace!
Jennifer Lafferty i haven’t gone boarding since before my first injury. my second acl tear came from the first time playing basketball again since my first surgery during my freshman year of college in 2017. it sucked, had my brace on and everything. i’m just getting ready for this winter. i always was scared to do things to avoid a third one but i have since realized i found that the psychological aspect of the injury is most important. the first time around i didn’t fix my beliefs and ideas that caused the first one, i was a fearful and mad young kid haha. i’ve really turned it around but my rehab the second time hasn’t reflected that entirely so i’m really hit it hard now. i can’t stay in fear about it it’s time to bite the bullet. it makes me think of that quote from kung fu panda by master oogway, “one often finds destiny on his path to avoid it.” ive been asked to go on so many trips to colorado by my buddies and always refused cause of my knee! why? didn’t mean to ramble but it’s always the cave you fear to enter that holds the treasure you seek so i gotta hit the slopes again! have a nice day
@@ChrisEyres and if i can offer some advice for your channel. Don't be too serious. I think everyone liked you on procamp cuz of your humor / goofiness. Atleast I did. So don't edit the "you" out of your vids. Just trying to help. Enjoy! You guys rock.
@@ChrisEyres Thanks for the quick reply man. I'm 38, from the UK. The price seems to be good considering all that's included. If you think they're good, I'm happy with that :) Having never been over to Canada for the snow, it's just good to have a positive endorsement from someone like yourself. Oh, and early March is when I'm thinking.
That's only a decision you can reach, hopefully with advice from the doctor and physiotherapist. There is a medical sports test called "Return to Sport" test, which I completed, took me two attempts. But generally you should have a good feeling if it's strong enough, just take the first day real easy
Typically I’d say it’s not the best idea, but everyone heals at different speeds etc. I talked with my doctor and Physiotherapist and made a plan with them. I also did a ‘return to sports’ evaluation which is a 40min series of exercises to see how well your body has recovered. Would def recommend doing something like this. Hope you get out there soon, take it easy and listen to your body. Happy shredding (soon)
Not any more, first season back I wore it every day, since then I have gradually worn it less, depending on how I’m feeling and what activity I’m doing. This summer it got much stronger from mtbing and so far this winter I haven’t felt any need for it.
