10+ Tips & Tricks I Wish I Knew in STARFIELD (Spoiler Free) 

My number one tip: don't watch hate videos about it

In the Wolf System (Right next to Sol) there is a space station that doesnt scan for contraband. So you can sell it all there no problems

One thing I learned is the FITNESS skill says to level up use all O2 . What you actually need to do is have a full bar of O2 and run until you fill up the CO2 . This can be combined with the weight lifter skills challenge that is sprint a certain distance with 75% of max load . When over encumbered just sprint until your CO2 is maxed then rest untill your O2 is recharged and repeat

Here is a good tip to save on healing.... you can sleep for 1 hour to fully heal (health anyway, not sure about burns, wounds, etc) and best of all, you can do it IN enemy territory. seriously i recovered full health, and got the well rested bonus, by sleeping in a cot, with enemies literally right outside the room, i did stealth (and save the game) before sleeping, but went from fighting, to sleeping and right back to fighting. it's like mid fight.. "excuse me you mercenaries, i need a nap, could you stop shooting for an hour" 😂 you can also run back to your ship and unload loot or rest there. i also saw someone open a security door by blasting the hinges off with the cutter, haven't tried it yet, but looked legit.

You can totally have your companions wear suits you find. Put it in their inventory and select equip like you would in your own inventory and they'll wear that one instead of their normal suit.

first bethesda game. watched a bunch of spoiler free tips videos after playing a few hours and this video by farrrr answered many questions i had. subbed

7:00 currently the game doesnt count items dropped on the floor of your ship towards its mass / cargo limit but the npc can still find contraband this way. the underground shop chests are still a thing and you can access them on almost every city. the glass cases for armor / weapons can be looted without picks, the armor display doesnt close all the way and the glass gun cases are sometimes too small so the weapon sticks out. try to make outposts with multiple resources, you dont need a bunch of extractors unless you plan on using time skipping and production to rush level 100. fastest is 40 mins that i know of.

As a person who put close to 700 hours in fallout4, I really was disappointed to see desk fans and vacuum tapes do literally nothing. Feels like I was baited into it

I feel the same about the 60 hours, feel i just barely got started and stractch the surface too. Loving it so far

To get storage from outposts... You need the transfer container. Then give output links from the storage container to the transfer container. Then you can acces the contents from the inventory menu cycling from you, to the ship, then the outpost.

I found it easier to use the digipick when I solved from the inner most ring first, really helps on master locks, and when you get the perk that let's you use thrusters you can hold the thruster button and that will also turn off inertial dampers so you can spin your ship around quickly at any speed, I find that helps when dogfighting, and like the immersive landing thing if you target a mission objective in space like you would an enemy ship, if you hold R and the objective is in a system that is 1 jump away or one you've been to it will automatically activate the grav drive after a few seconds, if it's a system you have not been to it will open the star map

Click the left stick and change the axis of the spin of item.

The one tip I have is in Ship Building you can double click your ship to select all of it or Ctrl - Left Click to select multiple parts. This can be super helpful when it comes to painting your ship.

I'd sure love the surveying quests, the planets can be so beautiful 🤩 I also want to have a little zoo and feed the animals 🥺 I also definitely like the upgrade button to be a thing in spaceship building! Once you get to the Mantis Gear, Quicksave before opening the case and you can keep reloading to roll a fresh batch of random traits on all the armor pieces until you're heart's content. Lol. I found this to be pretty fun at least. 🤞😶👏

To remotely access your ships cargo you must be within 250m of your ship.

You can also place the Constellation Mission Board in your Outposts…

You also have combat slides dont forget that.

One tip for the contraband selling. Go to the wolf system and then to The Den. Also the red mile is another location you can go without being scanned.

You can shoot asteroids out in space to gather ores and various other materials!!!

Here's a cool thing you might not be aware of, occasionally there are some red panels in walls that can be knocked down if you destroy the 4 pins in the corners of the panel that can give you access to otherwise inaccessible areas and provide shortcuts.😃

My favorite trick so far is this: Whenever you sleep or wait, the hours you sleep for are measured in Local Time, which is seperate from Universal Time. The menu even tells you how many UT hours you'll be sleeping for. The trick is, all of the game logic follows UT. So as an example, I found myself suddenly in need of a decent stockpile or Iron for something I was working on, so I landed on a panet where I could build an Iron extractor, but that also has extremely long Local hours, built an extractor, and took a nap. 1 hour of local time was something in the realm of *57* UT hours. Loads of Iron, zero effort, and quick as can be. Also just really funny to think about. Nothing like a good 57 hour power nap.

I found something pretty cool while clearing a facility that might be overlooked by some. While going through room I came across a big red emergency bulkhead door that has four pins that say cut here, well you can actually cut them with laser cutter and access the area behind its not just for show as ambient background scenery.

Using the cargo menue from outside the ship: In my experience, it seems to depend on the distance to your ship. If you are close enough you can use it. Therefore small cities are great, cause you can use it most places. (at vendors, you can always sell from your ships inventory though)

The lack of a local map is the most infuriating thing. Especially since you cant just look on the map to find the Trade Authority or Medical Clinic on any planet

I learned that there are four movement speeds: walking, jogging, running and sprinting. Just slightly moved the analog stick up to walk, the higher it goes to faster the movement, if your too heavy just walk that way you'll still be moving and gaining your oxygen

Have you done the Ry Neon secret missions? You get the last skill perk from social for free at the end. To manipulate npc. Only like 1.87% completed it and being promoted to executive (you have to do the last mission with stealth and no killing [took me 3hrs to figure out])

took me about an hour and a half to get bored with the "procedural" POIs. I landed on 3 moons, all with abandoned science facilities that were idential, to the placement of keys to access doors etc - even the enemies and the decorative items. Just not the container loot

In ship builder how do I add a third weapon? My ship came equipped with two, and i keep getting a error message in ship builder stating unassigned weapon

Choose a playstyle and stick with it, else youll grow frustrated when running into the issue of no clear apecialization. What i mean is, if you want to be a bounty hunter, dont have an exploring, cargo ship, with a cruise liner line up, instead make a nimble combat ship with some, SOME cargo for ship parts. And skip anything that isnt ammo, credits, weapons if you need it, and armor, everything else is against the playstyle. And for character creation, i discovered if you choose cybernetics AND alien dna, you have a huge hp pool and O2 pool right at the beginning of the game, making your early start significantly less precarious and weapon dependant, it only takes about 10 to 15% off the effectiveness of medpacks, but the doctor talent is perfect to offset this, the food stuff is worthless anyway so dont bother picking it up unless you want to be a chef for some reason. Another thing, if you set up an outpost somewhere to do mining or whatever, if you start manufacturing something cheap, say adaptive frame or set up for isocentered magnets, you can essentially print money, just take a large stack of it when you need to sell, and iso centered magnets sale for 4 credits each, so 6000 of them is like 30k cresits right there even without the commerce perk.Oh and for the explorers in this comment the mantis ship is a strong deterent for bandits, sometimes you can even extort them for free credits and loot. The higher your level the more interqctions that happen, that i have observed

I am going to need to start a new playthrough already. I ferked up early on when I landed on the moon. Saw a ship fly in so I boarded it and they thought I was a courier. I took the package and never delivered it. Now when I enter open space 3 ships keep spawning and immediately destroying me.

Please take your good books to the book shop in Akila city :) Think I got 2000 for Dracula, but she doesn't want anything from Charles Dickens, any other Old Earth books she will pay a premium for :)

My advice - Don't do non-combat stuff unless you have the related skill activated. This is because skill activity is not retroactive. Say you pick 10 locks then decide to activate security. Those 10 attempts do not count toward security leveling. Want to buy a crap ton of whatever and have credits to burn? Buy what you want then sit down and wait 48 hours and the shop should restock.

Ime it seems that you have to be within 250 meters of your ship to store and retrieve things from your cargo thru the pause menu

Open scanner and it'll show you the way to your selected mission objective.

Somehow, out of all the Starfield videos, this one made me the most hopeful. Despite being a video about how complicated and badly explained the user interface is... Maybe I'll play it. Eventually.

The surface elements rotate and sometimes don't spawn in exactly the same place.

For all you junk decorators: pressing shift or sprint while holding an item changes the axis on which you rotate said item.

I was told by several people tp beat the game quickly and then go through the rest of the game in new game plus, apparently its a much more enjoyable experience.

I've found no matter how far from your ship if you're in an 'interior' you can access your ships inventory, I think this is a bug as it makes no sense but prevents me from being over encumbered during exploration. Also when jumping to a system that has a scan when in orbit, you can just open your map and fast-travel to the surface to avoid it. Last point, in the storage section of the outpost building menu the top thing lets you grab from storage when aboard your ship without having to physically open the storage containers, just create a link to them.

Figure I’ll watch these on the off chance that it ever actually arrives on PS5

yeaaah the UX team really shit the bed with the map system.

as a long time fallout and elder scrolls fan, and a growing fan of this game, this is definitely the weakest menu system out of all the bethesda games. Specifically the surface map lol ..... gosh I hope they fix that with that being said, I do like the skills menu.

there is no stealth indicator. and i feel grossed out about it. i made this super duper martial artist character but i dont know if im stealthing correctly or when people are spotting me or not

Speaking of inventory management I almost dropped the game over this. I love the previous Bethesda games, but trying to play a character that crafts in this game just infuriated me: The game turned into nothing but menus and load screens. If it wasn't for the console I might never have played past hour four.

Tip no 0 get a high end pc or you will have problems.
