Ive been relaxed for 20 years, almost to the day and my spirit was being pulled into the direction of transitiong to natural for a while and i made the decision as of last night to not relax my hair ( due for a touch up today) I will admit i am nervous about enbarking on this journey but i am ready. There’s no way I can do this without blow drying. Suppose I just want to stop relaxing my hair but still want a silk press look. That’s actually what I’m looking to do

So encouraging! My last relaxer was December 2023. I found the most important tip was trimming and patience! How lucky am i that my twin had some hair training and trims my hair, as i'm going for the long term transition. Many days i think to myself WHAT AM I DOING?? I wear a lot of headwraps, headbands...the journey continues!❤

Didn’t do the “big chop” and avoiding the blow dryer is super hard but did it here & there. Yes trims is a must!, avoid straighteners for sure, protective styles great but weaves def no I hate, braids is ok but itchy. It’s hard but we have to do What works for you, but I totally agree less multiplication a must & treatments

Just coming across your channel. I haven't had a relaxer since Jan/Feb and since it's summer, I plan to do braids most of the time, but I do like to give my hair a break, so right now I'm managing 2 textures of hair for the next 3 weeks until I get braids again. Lastly, I'll decide whether I'll go completely natural or return to relaxed for my 50th birthday, which is in November. Lol

Blow drying worked for my transition. I guess do what works. Just use a few drops of heat protectant and stop blow drying when it’s dry. It helps hair to blend It takes a few minutes if short.

Will the blow dryer really damage your hair? I leave in a cold state, and having my air dry will take at least 24 to 48 hours to dry, which could be a problem when the temperature drops again.
@keaundraprice
@keaundraprice Год назад
I think any heat used too often could damage your hair. I have REALLY thick hair so the times I used a blow dryer I didn't have any other option. If you're twisting your hair I suggest a hooded dryer for at least 15min to knock the cold off. Hope this helps and thank you for watching. :)

If I go the braid route how long do you suggest not having the hair braided once you take the braids out and then how would you suggest styling the hair during those periods since heat isn’t suggested?
@keaundraprice
@keaundraprice 2 года назад
Hi! Id say start with a couple weeks since the hair is transitioning. That will allow you to deep condition and trim your hair. I''d suggest a twist out if the relaxed ends can blend in well. I did talk about what I personally did it between styles in another video. It will all depend on your hair type. I hope this helps. :)

I did it for a month and I had a attitude with my hair every day because it took so long to put up but it came out pretty. I have a question which one of these is a good brand ? African Pride Moisture Miracle or The Mane choice .

Can you please tell me how to transition from perm to natural while coloring my hair. I am pretty much fully gray and I’m not ready to wear my gray hair out yet. And I have not permed my hair in about three months so I do want to start the natural transition and so far it’s been very difficult I’ve been wearing wigs hair wraps and it does get very tiresome. But I would like to start I know I have a way to go probably another good two years. Thank you
@keaundraprice
@keaundraprice 2 года назад
Hello! Thank you for watching. I'd say try braids for the summer. I found the easiest way to manage my transition was with braids, wigs and weaves. If you use dark color, maybe try a rinse instead of permanent color as it may be too harsh for transitioning hair. It could potentially break off. However, everyone's hair is different. :) I hope this helps.
