What I always liked about HHH was his no BS moveset. Old school, none flashy moves and hard hitting fan-worrier moves (custom made for a heel). Like his rising knee where he would bounce off the ropes, the face would dodge the clothesline but he'd catch them with a knee, a fine example of his ability to build up false hope in a match and screw with the fans emotions. Or that classic Arn Anderson Spinebuster which is one of my favourite moves ever. His clotheslines, kicks and punches had a nasty realistic edge and he always knew when to execute a specific move for maximum effect. I always enjoyed his slower methodical wrestling and his ring psychology, a storytelling specialist 10x more interesting than the spot monkeys and showmen the kids are always down with. He's a master of timing, I don't think I've ever seen him botch missing his mark. He's been in loads of matches which hinged on being absolutely perfect with his timing. And man, back in 2000-2001, paired up against The Rock, they both defined what Main Event truly meant. Super resilient badass workhorse.
Soo f'n nice, that I'm not the only person, that remebers the HHH vs HBK 3 Stages of Hell It was briliant match with (IMHO) best 'pre-match promo' video package in buissness
SummerSlam 2002 hands down. And alot of people can talk about HHH backstage politics on the reign of terror, but people forget, he is one of the best in ring generals in history, and only him could pull a match with a returning Shawn (in which that could be is return and last match) and present a match like that, with a guy with back problems that didnt wrestle for 4 years (specially doing dangeours spots).
I was about to comment that I'm disappointed the 3 stages of hell and the last man standing match between the 2 never seem to get a mention. Glad to see they're not fully forgotten
Newer fans need to see the 2000 and 2001 models of HHH. Before his quad tear in 01, he was absolutely the MVP of those years. A cowardly heel, talented enough to get the job done, but always looking for the easiest way out. By 2000, he became a believable main eventer. The goofy leader of a midcard stable no longer looked out of his league when denying Rock, Taker or Foley a victory. Pre-quad-tear HHH and NXT-dad HHH may not erase some of the backstage crap he's pulled from 2002 to 2000-now, but man, they at least even it out. Since Jack was mentioning wrestling through injury, while not on the same level, HHH vs Austin at No Way out 2001 is worth talking about as that was Austin's best match since coming back from surgery. He was in bad ring shape, and went head to head with HHH in a semi main event for nearly 40 minutes. Out of all his matches with Austin, it's probably their best one together.
Everyone back then got everyone else over. HHH's victories over established main eventers like Rock and Foley put him in their league. One the other hand, the deck always being stacked against Rock had him ascend beyond even Austin's levels of popularity. But, HHH also made Jericho look credible. Angle and Benoit always seemed like they stood a chance against him, as they slowly made their own climb up the midcard. HHH even got Earl Hebner over as a character.
Glenn Ross The action is just as good (if not better) than their Street Fight the previous month and the story was more compelling given that it was Cactus' retirement match.
All I remember is the spot where Cactus falls through the cell and ring. I dont remember it being his retirement, you are right, that does make it more compelling, Im going to go re-watch this match now thanks
For my secret Number 11, gotta go with Austin and HHH vs Benoit and Jericho for the tag titles on RAW. That's the match where Paul tore his left quadricep and still finished the match thus cementing his bad-assness for a lack of a better term.
Stone Cold vs. HHH from No Way Out 2001 & Shawn Michaels vs. HHH from Summerslam 2002 are my 2 favorite HHH matches of all time, Rock vs. HHH from Summerslam 1998 is in 3rd. But I think Stone Cold vs. HHH from No Way Out 2001 is criminally underrated.
Vs the rock backlash 2000 Vs undertaker wrestlemania 27 Vs the rock summerslam 1998 Vs Daniel Bryan wrestlemania 30 Vs Ric flair survivor series 2005 Vs Chris Jericho fully loaded 2000 Vs cactus Jack royal rumble 2000 Vs Shawn Michaels Vs Benoit wrestlemania 20 Vs stone cold no way out 2001 Vs Shawn Michaels summerslam 2002
Good list.. Some of the other matches that could've made top 10: - vs the rock iron Man match judgement day 2000 - vs Chris Benoit no mercy 2000 - vs batista hell in a cell vengeance 2005 - with stone cold vs Benoit/Jericho raw 2001 - vs Shawn michaels raw 2003 and royal rumble 2004
I've seen all these matches, and I agree that all but one of the matches are must see. The only one I don't care for is the Triple H/Undertaker at Wrestlemania 27. Personally, I feel his match with Undertaker at Wrestlemania 17 is more must see than the WM27 or WM28 match.
The Royal rumble 2000 match with cactus jack was my favorite for the longest time. Still absolutely love the match because although the violence was extreme it was a perfect blend of violence and psychology. The story told that night was amazing.
1. HHH vs Cactus Jack- royal rumble 2000 2. HHH vs Stone Cold- 3 stages of hell 3. HHH vs Daniel Bryan-Wm30 4. HHH vs Shawn Michaels- Summer Slam 2002 5. HHH vs Chris Jericho- Last man standing 6. DX vs the McMahons + Big Show-Hell in a cell 7. HHH/Stone Cold vs Jericho/Beniot- Raw 2001 8. Elimination Chamber 2002 9. HHH vs The Rock-Iron Man Match 2000 10. HHH vs Undertaker-WM27 Idk if he’s my favorite wrestler but he has more of my all time favorite matches/rivalries than anyone else and it’s not even close.
The build up to No Way Out '01 was gold on its own. Zero tolerance, hhh having Austin rundown, Austin dropping hhh in a car 40ft from a forklift for revenge. Over a year long story, and an intense way to end it
I want to bring up something about Triple H's three Mania matches with Undertaker: His constant evolution (Heh) to deal with Taker's finishers. During their first Mania match, Undertaker won via the Last Ride, so at their second Mania match, Triple H got out of the move. Then during that match, Undertaker won via Hell's Gate, so during their final Mania match, Triple H broke Hell's Gate via sledgehammer. It's little story telling moments like these that show us why Triple H, is the Cerebral Assassin.
not questioning any of those moments but you left out my personal favorite moment of all time Triple H beating The Rock for his first WWF Championship on the first episode of SmackDown
My Top 10 Favorite Triple H Matches Of All Time 1.Triple H Vs. Cactus Jack(Royal Rumble 2000) 2.Triple H Vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin(No Way Out 2001) 3.Triple H Vs. Cactus Jack(No Way Out 2000) 4.Triple H Vs. Shawn Michaels(SummerSlam 2002) 5.Triple H Vs. Shawn Michaels Vs. RVD Vs. Kane Vs. Chris Jericho Vs. Booker T(Survivor Series 2002) 6.Triple H Vs. The Rock(Backlash 2000) 10.Triple H Vs. The Undertaker(WrestleMania 27) Honerable Mention:Triple H Vs. Jeff Hardy Vs. Edge(Armageddon 2008)
One of my favourite Triple H matches is his 2007 Cyber Sunday Street Fight with Umaga that match was awesome and had me on the edge of my seat from bell to bell
@@Tizontheska putting aside what he did, which I do not condone its messed up, but Benoit was an amazing technician and deserves more than he gets recognized for
every match triple h has had felt big to me i started watching in 2011 and my first wrestlemania was 28 so undertaker and triple h were always presented in a big way to me i love him allot
His Hell in a Cell vs Cactus Jack and tag team match with Stone Cold vs Benoit and Jericho on RAW deserve some consideration. I think a Cultaholic video rated Trips/Foley the best HIAC match ever.
The last RAW in 2002 triple h faced Shawn Michaels for the World Heavyweight Championship, it’s one of the best raw main events of all time. And easily could have closed out a pay-per view.
Here are some of my honorable mentions: 1. Vs Undertaker (Wrestlemania 28 Hell in a Cell match) 2. With Stephanie McMahon vs Kurt Angle and Ronda Rousey (Wrestlemania 34) 3. With Shawn Michaels vs Big Show and the McMahons (Unforgiven 2006 Hell in a Cell match) However I have some dishonorable mentions: 1. Vs Randy Orton (Wrestlemania 25) 2. Roman Reigns (Wrestlemania 32) 3. Vs Ultimate Warrior (Wrestlemania 12)
Some other recommended Triple H matches. 1. Triple H vs Shawn Michaels - Last Man Standing Match - Royal Rumble 2004 2. Triple H vs Shelton Benjamin - Monday Night Raw, March 29, 2004 3. Triple H vs Kane - Chain Match - Judgment Day 2001 4. Triple H vs Shawn Michaels vs Chris Benoit - Backlash 2004 5. Two Man Power Trip vs Brothers of Destruction - Backlash 2001
The HHH vs Jericho last man standing match from Fully Loaded 2000 is probably my all time favorite match, but the build to the street fight at that year's Rumble is tough to beat, especially with the reveal of Cactus Jack and Trips effectively selling a man changing his shirt.
Best 15 Triple H Matches 15.Triple H Vs.Vince McMahon Street Fight -Armageddon 99 14.Triple H Vs.Ric Flair-Survivor Series 2005 13.Triple H Vs.Jeff Hardy Vs.Edge-Armageddon 2008 12.Triple H Vs.John Cena-Wrestlemania 22 11.Triple H Vs.Chris Jericho-Fully Loaded 2000 10.Triple H Vs.The Rock-Summerslam 98 9.Triple H Vs.Stone Cold Steve Austin-No Way Out 01 8.Triple H Vs.Chris Benoit-Raw 04 7.Elimination Chamber-Survivor Series 2002 6.Triple H Vs.Chris Benoit Vs.HBK-Wrestlemania 20 5.Triple H Vs.Batista Hell In The Cell-Vengeance 2005 4.Triple H vs.The Rock-Judgement Day 2000 3.Triple H Vs.Cactus Jack -Royal Rumble 2000 2.Triple H Vs.The Rock-Backlash 2000 1.Triple H Vs.Shawn Michaels-Summerslam 2002
@Cultaholic great list as always but you have to give Shawn vs Triple H in a Hell in a Cell match an honorable mention because it tied the feud together and is the record longest cell match for wwe
Out of topic, the Batista vs Triple H storyline is underrated, it was a storyline that was bulding for months and well played and very well executed (something WWE today seems they cant do it). And that trilogy with Batista ending in Hell In a Cell, was so good, its weird because im all for indy stars, but it was 2 guys, that looked like Wrestlers, in a great storyline, that ended in a brutal match (that is what HIAC is for, not for 2 matches for night, and expect at least one every year).
Say what you will about Triple H's politics, but you cannot question his tenacity; soldiering on in the face of crippling injuries, where most would be put to a full stop.
HHH vs The Rock. The 1 hour Iron Man Match from Judgement Day 2000. HHH vs Chris Benoit one hour Iron Man Match from Raw. HHH vs Jericho Hell In A Cell. HHH vs Edge vs John Cena. A ppv with blood. HHH vs Brock Lesnar steel cage match.
With "Evolution" coming up in October u guys should do a best list of the Top10 womens wwe matches and also a Top10 of the best women's matches outside of the WWE.
bryan diaz sorry bro i didnt actually read your comment just OP, I agree with your comments though, just so you know that wasnt directed at you lol, i edited my comment anyway so I dont look like a douche
Triple h vs Kevin Nash in a hell in a cell match (no referee wanted to be apart of that match due to triple h using a sledgehammer to put a lot of senior referees in hospital during that time, so stone cold a co general manager at the time appointed mick Foley as the special guest referee) bad blood 2003
