Actually I watched a train accident on RU-vid it was in Ohio and a car tried to beat the train. Nobody survived. The video should be shown in driver education classes to let students know it doesn’t pay to try to beat the train.
Nice catches! We have our share of idiots around here, including people regularly getting hit by trains. My favorite was a guy who was walking along next to the train tracks, oblivious, and the horn of the approaching Amtrak scared him and he took off running. It's really not hard to NOT get hit by a train.
This is one of (if not the biggest) problem that Brightline, tri-rail, and FEC, but mainly Brightline, is dealing with right now. It honestly irks me how idiotic people can be
how is waiting for a Train dangerous? it's dangerous to beat a Train! 95% of the time, the Train wins it's better to spare a couple of minutes of your life than having the high possibility of having 15 seconds left to live!
They're just blindly following the vehicle ahead of them across the tracks even though the lights are flashing and the gates are coming down. I think people just assume they'll be fine as long as they get across before the gate comes down.
