I got some tips as well: 1. Don't build all your rooms against the building walls. You end up with large empty hallways and find it hard to place more rooms. Don't be afraid to use rooms in the middle of buildings and keep the rooms slim so you can make a "box" of 2x2 rooms. You rarely need to make them extremely large. 2. You need more assisstants and janitors than you think. Your libraries should be staffed nearly around the clock, and if you only hire 1 person per library, them taking a break will cause issues. Especially with shops later on. 3. Use your starting cash liberally and build all the necessary stuff before the year starts. Often you can push your campus level enough before the first year starts to run a level 2 course right away. That will pay dividends in income.

I disagree with the 3 star method before moving on. What I did was do the first 4 with one star to get research and training, then went back to the first to 3 star them. Once you can research and train up your teachers a bit, it makes the game so much easier.

I agree, and restarting if you've made some bad decisions in the beginning. A downside is needing more stuff though, like having to place the medical room in the first campus once it's been unlocked, and getting janitor applicants with the security skill when it's not needed.

Tip #1 doesn't really explain the problem well. The real issue isn't expansion, it's expanding multi-year courses and in particular courses that require lots of space. Archaeology is THE best example of this problem, because over the 3 year course the students will need a Lecture Theatre, Science Lab, Computer Lab and THREE Dig Sites (for the 3 years of students). Each dig site needs to be big, so I generally assign an entire plot of land. Which means I can't imagine trying to run that course effectively at Freshleigh. Knight School has a similar problem. Over 3 years it only needs two Lecture Theatres, but it also needs two Battle Grounds and two Jousting Fields, and those a fairly large. Academic Exercise is another course to be careful of, since Cheeseball Fields are fairly large and you'll need 3 of them per class (one per year). On the other hand, General Studies is a one year course that only needs a Lecture Theatre. So this is by far the best course to choose for quick expansion, or if you just don't have a lot of spare space on your campus. You still need the support rooms (bathrooms, showers, dormitories, libraries, rest areas etc) so the more students you have the more rooms you'll need to accommodate them, but some course choices are MUCH more demanding than others. A related tip is to not build rooms bigger than they really need to be. Sometimes the minimum space for a room isn't ideal, for example I generally build my libraries in a 5x4 grid rather than the required 3x3 grid in order to accommodate what I want to put in there, but the lecture theatre we see in Freshleigh is an example of a room that is unnecessarily large. I'll either build that in the minimum 4x4 size, or 5x4 if I want to add a lot of items to it. Anything bigger than that is basically a waste of space that you'll need for other rooms. Dormitories are another room people tend to make too large. A 7x3 grid will accommodate 50 students (10 beds) with all they need and can be built to prestige 10 or more with high attractiveness, and they're small enough you can pepper a few around your campus where you need them.

1.Borrow money to make every room at least prestigious 6. Will lose money on 1 st year but almost guarantee 1 million profit annually third years onwards. Open variety of course as they share rooms and maximize efficiency. Keep student well fed and hydrated. Do not over expand, as hygiene, attractiveness, students happiness will drop tremendously and led to lost in profit. Build sufficient dorm, library, etc before expanding. These are my tips after playing for 40 hours.

Also, if you increase the pay of your janitors, you can integer overflow and they will pay you like 2 billion per year to do the job.

Having high prestige rooms doesn't need to be all that expensive. I have a blueprint of what I call the Cheapskate Student Lounge that only costs 14,160 yet has 13 prestige and accommodates student food, drink, entertainment, friendship and hygiene needs in a 3x5 space. I dot those around because they're fairly cheap and are really popular with students. That said, I avoid using plants in any of my indoor areas, so that Cheapskate Lounge has no plants in it, which I could have used to get it a bit more prestige but at the cost of having more work for my janitors. Dormitories don't have to be that large or expensive either. My standard dorm is 3x7, costs around $26,000 and has 10 prestige to accommodate 50 students. A room full of students generates more money than that just in one year's rent, not to mention their tuition fees etc.

Really confused about your description of staff traits (Tip #4). You seem to be saying that staff with negative personality traits are cheaper. That is not the case at all. (Especially since you talked about training them up, but their negative traits will remain. This makes me think you are referring to personality traits and not skills.) The salary is based on their skills at hiring. All staff with the same lvl 1 course skill always have the same salary. Some skills will also make them cheaper than others. For example, assistants with lvl 1 speed skill will be cheaper to hire than assistants with lvl 1 medical or marketing. Or a janitor with lvl 1 speed will be much cheaper to hire than a janitor with lvl 1 security or upgrading skill. And applicants with multiple skills or lvl 2+ skills will already have a higher starting salary as well. Their negative traits (like being gross, lollygagging, littering, etc) are all totally random per person. It doesn't make them cheaper if they have one of those negative traits. Strategically, I find it best to look for assistants and janitors who come with just lvl 1 speed skill (or, second best, lvl 1 comic relief or maintenance skill) and train them up myself to what I want them to have (medical, library, security, etc). For teachers, I prefer to hire just lvl 1 course skilled people, and train them up. It keeps their salaries as low as possible. And I also keep an eye out for any hires which have the Rapid and Iron Bladder traits (Squeaky Clean would be the trifecta), and hire them if they are cheap due to low skills. I edit their names to put a + at the end, so I know this is a staff member with the best possible traits that I want to train and keep forever. If I am forced to make a hire with negative traits (like littering, lollygagging, etc) because I really just need the staff, then I add a - to their name, so I know I want to fire them once I have replaced them. It makes it easier when I view the training list so I know to train up the best staff (the ones with Name+).

I just tried this game for free during a game trial on Nintendo Switch and I loved it! I was totally hooked. However, I didn't find it intuitive on the Switch at all. I'll definitely be looking out for a Steam sale and get it on pc! This video was very helpful :)

I bought the game in the Microsoft store so have been playing it on Xbox but have switched to PC. Played through all of two point hospital on console but campus just seems more at home on PC. I think as the layouts and more menu screens are way more mouse friendly

@@phillipbailey2525 Yeah exactly! It's quite unintuitive on console, pc just feels so much more meant to be and easier to navigate.

Has anyone found a way to "lock" Staff to rooms? Its super anoying to micro manage all the time because you put a 5 lvl teacher in, and then after breaks the AI just puts in a lvl 1..

You can set what tasks each employee is allowed to do, so you can make the level 1 teacher only do tuition and the level 5 does lessons for example
