The pic of Kirk sitting with his toys and comics hung on my bedroom wall in high school. That pic showed me that Kirk was a true nerd and that it was okay to be a nerd. I was a budding metal guitarist who loved kittens and puppies, loved Star Wars and would cry a little during sad parts in movies. What a relief! Thanks Kirk.

Kirk Hammett is like the David Gilmour of Metal. Melodic, lyrical, hauntingly beautiful, and deeply memorable guitar solos. He always makes the guitar sing.

When I worked backstage in Amsterdam at their concert last year, I sat down with Kirk and we hade a couple beer. I liked all of them a lot, laidback, cool, funny dudes. But Kirk really stole my heart with his kindness and relatableness

Such an underrated guitarist. One of the top 10 of all time in my book.

when i started listening to metal, metallica was my big fav, then i started seeing kirk as a bad guitarrist cause of what people use to say about him, now years later i hear them and watch kirk's videos and im honestly in love as a guitarrist, idk what fuck is people thinking when they say he is bad, he is not the best, sure, but he is a hell of a lead guitar and hell of a rockstar cool guy, probably the coolest and one of my damn favs :)

and it's mindblowing to think that if Cliff drew a lower card than Kirk it easily could have been Kirk O.o

There's probably better guitarists out there than Kirk, but for the remainder of my lifetime he was always remain my favourite.

The Kirk Hammett hate and wah wah bullshit comments aside, I've always wondered what Metallica would have looked like if Kirk and Cliff didn't switch beds. Imagine how different Metallica would be. Not in a bad way of course, just how different the band would look without Kirk, but with Cliff.

Maybe he's not the best guitar player, but he's amazing playing guitar, and a great guy.

Kirk is an absolute legend and I don’t think he gets enough credit. Easily one of the greatest guitarists ever and overall just seems like a cool guy.

I started listening to Metallica around 94 96..for me Mr.Hammett is the coolest dude in metal.

The moment Kirk reflects that experience you can see him pause in terror..

At first, I thought they were implying Kirk was in the Godzilla costume.

When i was a teenager, i fucking worshiped this guy. Any one talking shit about kirk was met wit an explosion of angst fueld punches with no warning. Kirk was literally a god to me. I didnt think anyone could be better, but thats only because ive never heard resl metal before. My introduction to metal was master of puppets. Still imo the greatest metal album ever.
