Jesus why do I have to see this comment in every post related to assassin's creed? ffs it was getting boring they had to do something. I know odyssey went too much off the rail but come on valhalla explained how the templar order started in the first place and how the hidden ones evolved. isn't it better to have some explanation and variety?
@@gamedone735 I Like most of the new assassains creed games i just agree that valhalla is fluffed a little too much at least with odyssey most of the games side missions somehow played into the actual story in some way
I like the new games but wish they were not “assassins creed” games. Should of just had a different name for this new series and left the assassins creed series be.
If I'm being honest syndicate was the last game i enjoyed and it was an Assassin's creed game not a knight creed game Stealth is gone now, i don't feel like an assassin anymore. Assassins are supposed to be stealthy and and blends in with the crowd. I also miss the Parkour which latest games ignore. Fast hooded, stealthy assassin running from rooftop to rooftop and killings targets within seconds is what supposed to be Assassins's creed
Well, since Mass Effect Andromeda is in a different Galaxy, they can make Mass Effect 4 continue the story in the Milky Way as in the original trilogy. And at a later date, they can do a Mass Effect Andromeda 2 storyline and continue the story in that galaxy. Simple.
He was just cool dude that wears sunglasses indoors in first game, but at the end he gets attacked and mortally wounded by proto-Tyrant, so he injects himself with perfected Progenitor virus, and as side effect he gets superpower. He shows up in this form first time in Code Veronica, which is actually RE3 in terms of continuity and cannon, Nemesis is actually suppose to be spinoff, but because Veronica was Dreamcast inclusive, they didn't want "number" in their title, unlike Sony, who could care less.
They should've had DedSec being the hacker group rather than inventing a new one for no reason. It could've been a nice nod considering Aiden was an Easter Egg in Assassin's Creed Origins.
A while back I decided to look up the story of Resident Evil and I found a series of vids that spans 4 hours. This guy that did it does his absolute best to pull it together. It was crazy but gotta give it to the guy who put that kind of time to put that convoluted story together
"xe na hort" lol KH's story isn't that complicated, people just don't want to play all of the games/think they are side stories as opposed to mainline installments
They could say Mass Effect Andromeda is in fact just a stand alone spinoff in the same universe, rather than a direct sequel, thus protecting their chosen timeline.
Andromeda makes that quite clear. The Arks leave the Milky Way between the events of ME2 and ME3. By the time they reach Andromeda, what happened in ME3 is already over. In a way, its a branching time line thats not dependent on the players choices of ME3. Its a shame Bioware designed the game as part of a new trilogy rather than a stand alone game though. That was the formula that made ME1 and 2 so great. They stood on their own as a singular stories inside of a bigger world. Andromeda was designed from the start to be a story broken into multiple games. Their own ambition ruined them in a way
As a matter of fact Todd Howard indeed wanted Oblivion to be more generic fantasy like. The world was in a mild fantasy craze after the Lord of the Rings saga finished, so they wanted to double down on this, according to an intervierw with some of the developers.
For the whole "Imperial Provence is Forrest" thing, it's not just some guy with magic changing the landscape, Its a literal god (F U thalmor and W.G Concordat) altering history to make it never have been a Forrest, with those books being some weird leftover. (I blame Herma mora)
Man, when you mentioned KH. I feel ya, my dude. I feel ya. As for Andromeda, I might be in a minority but honestly, I kinda like it. Its Bioware trying to expand the ME lore outside of the ME lore (post-Shepard) so Im actually pretty bummed out that the next one will continue Shepard's story rather than continuing or expanding Andromeda's lore.
Assassins creed had soooo much potential.... also with halo the books were written with help from the original halo creators with their ideas and approval
Kingdom hearts for sure deserves a spot on this list. The story goes in 1000 different directions. Edit: i made this comment before finishing video, good job gameranx. Makes me proud lol
in case anyone is curious about the elder scrolls thing, he didn't just "use magic" he became an actual God and transformed Cyrodiil permanently across the entire timeline essentially rewriting history. That's why it makes sense for it to also be that way in the elder scrolls online.
And you bet the elves in the new one will claim they stopped the dragons and the dragonborn was a fake just a former grey beard student who was against the true heroes and claim they were still superior
@@raptorfromthe6ix833 because they didnt want to i guess. in elder scrolls lore a legendary hero can "Mantle" a God meaning they embody that god so well that they *become* that god replacing the entity with themselves. Tiber Septim did this to become Talos and changed Cyrodiil's landscape throughout time. The player character "mantles" Sheogorath in the oblivion DLC "The Shivering Isles" and becomes the God of that realm.
I would have just stopped at the Dranei part on the Warcraft entry. That's probably the single biggest retcon in the history of video games ever. It changed the fate of 3 major factions, fleshed out the universe spanning demon army that has been main antagonists for 4 of the 8 expansions and completely rewrote the backstory behind 2 separate planets.
The heartless have always been described as the stolen hearts of people who fell to fear and darkness since the first game (reason being they were gathering hearts to reach/summon the kingdom of hearts) in the second you see whats created once "you lose your heart", the creation of nobodies (empty carcases). In the games theres many documents explaining everything, although it does get kind of tedious. And the organization XIII aren't all versions of xenahort... only one is, Roxas for example is Sora's nobody (of when he briefly became a heartless) like Axel is the one of Lea...
I’m a huge Resident Evil fan, but I couldn’t help myself to laugh how silly you explained the changes. I agreed with what you were talking about. We never got to see the main characters fighting Umbrella at all. Only for Chris vs Wesker, but we were explaining something like the main characters trying to defeat umbrella. RE2, RE: Code Veronica, and RE3 were close enough.
Fun fact about Mass effect 3s ending: it's not the ending that bioware wanted to use. The original ending sadly didn't happen because of time. And also because EA told bioware to use the ending that we ended up getting, simply because EA didn't like it. The original plan for the ending was to tell us (Shepherd) why the reapers were killing everyone. And to show/tell the dangers of mass effect fields and how using said fields as much and as long everyone was, would result in the galaxy or even the universe being destroyed. And saying that the reapers have done this at least 8 times (something like that)
I did love Andromeda for the first 20-30 hours, and I was like "Why is everybody hating this game?!" But it really feels like they droped the ball somewhere in the middle. I'd love to see a Mass Effect Andromeda 2, but I think media business in general doesn't pick up projects that went down badly.
For the Elder Scrolls entry, the change did go across time. The in universe explanation says the change happend in the past, present, and future. I don't recall how the author of this in universe book explains how anyone remembers, or how he found enough info to make the book in the 1st place though.
The real problem with the Mass Effect ending was that THEY LIED TO US. Somehow, everyone seems to have forgotten that a MASSIVE part of the ME hype was that A) Your choices carry from one game to the next, and B) ALL of your choices, even from the first game, would impact your ending. The idea of needing a completed playthrough save file of the first two games to take full advantage of the myriad different endings was something that everyone was excited about. It was like getting a super-sized sci-fi Chrono Trigger. And what did they deliver? None of your choices matter at all in the ending. Choose Option A for red explosions, Option B for blue explosions, and Option C for yellow explosions.
Btetcon invaded Kvatch and made everything always have been that way. The reason some books describe it as a jungle is simply because the Moth Priests read about it in an Elder Scroll which Bretcon couldnt affect
You say they're going to ignore Andromeda but honestly probably not. They STARTED Mass Effect 3 stumbling out of the gate because the VERY FIRST THING they did was dive into how Shepard is in trouble for something they did in a DLC mission in the previous game that most people didn't play. Most people were completely baffled because they virtually don't explain it at all but then that got entirely overshadowed by the ending of the series. Point being it's a super weird decision to make about your mainline story. Imagine if in between Harry Potter 2 & 3 they released a short novella in only a small market where Harry suddenly becomes a werewolf and then three starts with him just rampaging in werewolf form. It's only referenced very briefly in throw away scenes that tell you nothing before eventually fading into irrelevance because we have better things to do.
I'm not too mad about Resident Evil, considering what 5 explains too. Plus the new Umbrella in 7 and 8 still not being trusted by Chris is a good way to respect his character.
Kingdom Hearts makes sense if you go through ALL the obscure games, which is kinda difficult as most of the servers went off line. but yeah, lots of subtleties and inferences can be made about what is actually happening without those obscure games anyway. Everyone is X or they are Sora, and Sora is pure of heart, while X is either corrupted or too focused on his desires such that the ends justify the means. Meanwhile Disney.
The draenei are the Eredar that escaped from their home after Sargeras corrupts everyone. They call themselves draenei wich means exiles. The draenei from warcraft 3, are the draenei that stayed on draenor ( outland ) and survived the orcs onslaught. They became week and started to call themselves " broken " they tried to survive as best as they could and meet illidan and the Blood elves and start to work with them. The draenei you play on world of warcraft, are the draenei that fled using the Exodar ( the ship that they used to escape Argus, their homeworld ) from outland just before the enraged orcs being manipulated by kil'jaeden decimated shattrath City. And they crash on azeroth. After they crash, they see that the orcs are there too, but the alliance comes to their aid. Made a big resume there, hope i helped understand. I read on the books. They are awesome for those who like the games.
honestly i was okay with the extended cut. and ignoring andromeda would make sense. andromeda was a whole different story anyway. they left before the final attack to find a new home in case the worst happened. at best andromeda could be mentioned in the new game as a thing that happened then ignored until/if they decide to make andromeda 2.
Mass effect Andromeda can be ignored cause it takes place in an entirely different galaxy. You leave prior to the major battle with the reapers and are then in stasis until hundreds of years later meaning any thing they do after ME3 in the Milkyway Galaxy doesn't have to acknowledge Andromeda in any way shape or form if they don't want to. The whole Andromeda initiative was a Cerberus black op initiative that could follow its own unique story line without affecting the continuity of anything that is planned after ME3 in the Milkyway. Just saying...
Spartans don't die, they just go missing, makes them technically the last Spartan just like if your strike team goes missing you are the last of your strike team
Tales of Xillia! You find yourself fighting in a fantasy battle with swords, magic and enough hours in to think it is the main part of the story. You think it is all gonna be a story limited to the world , the fantasy elements already established in the game, and think the main story already revealed - UNTIL!! - they shoot a hole in the sky that rips open the fabric of the dimension and a prepared army of Metal ships immediately start comming through the rift and then you find out there is another sister planet to yours and Boom - MIND already Blown at this point, nuff said!
The fun thing for me here is that outsidexbox had a video with a similar theme just a few hours ago, and only one of the points (the Master Chief one) overlap between the two videos, even while featuring a lot od the same games.
In MGS5 your character not actually being Bug Boss make perfect sense in the MGS universe anyways. What with Solid Snake, and Liquid Snake and Solidus all being clones of the original big boss to begin with, it makes sense in the MGS universe when there's yet ANOTHER Boss that isn't Boss but also not a clone....lmao.
The Kingdom Hearts change that actually bothers me is the key blade. You are lead to believe that Sora has the only one, and that only he can use it. Didn't bother me too much when Riku could use it, he is connected to Sora. I even remember gasping when it was revealed that King Mickey had a key blade as well, but the way it's revealed and it's coloring lead you to think it's like a 'counterpart' to the one you have. Then number 2 comes along and suddenly Sore has 2 of them when he unleashes a special power. I must admit that other than trying Chain of memories, I stopped playing. I saw a commercial for a new one that showed a field full of key blades, and was so annoyed that I lost interest.
I love Mass Effect, and Andromeda was amazing…. I was broke when it came out, so I didn’t play it till later and the bugs were already fixed- any then it was gold… too bad it’s first impression when it rolled out was so awful… Bc I’d love a sequel
I always though Zelda was different versions/retelings of the same story, aparently there is a timeline, that changes with every media released (games-manga)
When the relays were destroyed in ME3 ships weren't simply cut off from the galaxy. Ships have FTL drives, they're just massively slower than using the relays. It would take years to cross the galaxy with normal FTL.
What was also jarring about Oblivion, other than the "alien" landscape shifting to a traditional medieval one, was the fauna. Again a jarring shift from alien to decidedly Earthlike, plus more traditional fantasy creatures.
mass effect 3 extended cut didnt change anything did you actually play it? the only thing you could say they changed was shepard surviving in the destroy ending
I just started my umteenth playthrough of the Kingdom Hearts series. It started so simple and sweet, I remember getting choked up the first time I finished KH1. Because of the slew of games that fall between 1, 2 and 3, it became a convoluted MESS of a story. Sad, but like you said, it's just a good game to play.
Kingdom Hearts lore was fine... until each subsequent game. It seems like each game added craziness. Mass Effect on the other hand... the tragedy of that game is that in a game where you get so attached to the characters and world, there really was no... good ending. Most the endings were either bad or vaguely bad/poorly explained. On top of that, for what was supposed to be the last game there wasn’t nearly enough epilogue with every character. Like there were 3 whole games, and you couldn’t spend 5 minutes on each character explaining what they did and how they lived their life afterwards?
Andromeda was a good first game, but people keep comparing it to the entire trilogy instead of say just mass effect 1, so it comes up short. It’s kinda infuriating really. It’s purpose was to set up a new franchise with more exploration I think
tfw you are the only one in the world that actually enjoyed Mass Effect Andromeda. But you are definitely right about them ignoring it when ME4 comes out. My bet is that they will set it before the 600 year cryo-sleep-trip ends, so they can safely toss it out as "our brave explorers are on their way" or whatever. Some throwaway line in one of the first areas, and that's all we'll get about ME:A. And yes, I actually did enjoy ME:A. Though I do understand why people hated it, I just didn't hate it enough to stop playing it until beating it a couple times.
With Mass Effect some dev( I forgot who) said that Andromeda galaxy was shown in the latest trailer for a reason hinting that they are not forgetting ME:A existed, as a fan of ME:A I hope it's true
Assassin Creed 1 need a remake! This is my favorite AC game! Wish to see Altair on Unity engine and in 4k 60-120fps this was true Assassin Creed and last one true one
I agree Kingdom Hearts can be convoluted but I think it a was a big disservice the way you explained it haphazardly. You can understand the story if you actually play all the games.
kingdom hearts is such a broken and convoluted plotline that you genuinely need to play all the games including all spinoffs in chronological order just to extract even the basic motives of the good and bad guys
The elder scrolls justify they change with dragon breaks(timeline breaks) so when Tiber septim changed the land he rewrote history. So what is now has always been
Now correct me if I'm wrong, It was said that master chief is the last member of the spartan 2 program, which to my knowledge is true (up until halo 5 for some reason). You brought up reach and Jun surviving, Jun was part of the spartan 3 programs. Different set of spartans entirely.
M E : Andromeda existed just because they wanted to make more money off the mass effect players, it was set "somewhere" between ME2 and ME3 just before the reaper invasion started specificly because they didn't want to give a cannon ending to mass effect 3 and in a different galaxy because again they didn't want to mix it in with the original trilogy's timeline and mess it up even more than they already had like they did with ME3's ending.
Warrior cyborg Jesus (with a picture of Master Chief above the text) shirt when? Also, and more importantly, the perfect ending to Mass Effect 3 should have been: Step 1: Complete “Opertation Rannoch” with both the Quarians and the Geth surviving and reintegrating into a shared society. Step 2: At the end, have Shepard realize that the “Child” and the “Dreams” were always visions brought on by his/her exposure to Reaper tech as a form of attempted indoctrination. Step 3: Have the “God -Child”/Catalyst acknowledge this as well as the fact that the Crucible was actually designed by the Reapers as another level of control, placed in a previous cycle as a way to give hope to those civilizations that survived the Reaper culling for a long time. A way to make them come together and waste resources on something the Reapers would never allow them to complete. But now that it has been completed the Catalyst is curious as too what is different about this cycle. Step 4: Bring up the fact that the Geth never wanted to destroy the Quarians, and that, with Shepards help, peace between organic and synthetic life has already been achieved. This leads the Catalyst to question its original assumption that the only way to preserve organic life was to create technorganic beings like the Reapers. Convincing the Catalyst to end the culling cycles while the Reapers help rebuild and share the histories of the countless civilizations they where created to contain.
You are wrong about the Spartans though. In many books (first strike included) it is made clear there are several spartan II's still kicking, in ghosts of onyx for example Kurt 051 is the SII in charge of training the S III's, and that book came 4 year's before Reach, so yeah... wrong on that.
The war3 Dreanei are actually the WoW Broken who were once draenei but "stuff" happened to some of them. As for the Blood elves, well technically most high elves became blood elves becouse they lost the SUnwell, and their city was always there and not even in the middle of alliance teritory.
