1..less is more 2. Wear flattering clothes 3. Invest in your grooming 4. Be clever with your bugdet shopping 5. Choose expensive colours 6. Add statement pieces (handbag, sunglasses, heels, hat) 7. Shop pre owned 8. Right combination (colours) 9. Know where to spend 10. Copy expensive look people
My grandmother taught me that if you have a great haircut, great skin (ie using good skin care) and a great red or French manicure you can even get caught answering the door and you still look good! I think clothing comes secondary to good personal hygiene.
DARLING ANNA , IF YOU WANT TO LOOK POOR / RICH , GO SHOPPING AT " GOODWILL AND SALVATION ARMY . " SERIOUSLY , WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO LOOK RICH / POOR . ?
Most definitely. Ms. Bey always gives good advice and suggestions without EVER being condescending, snobby or talking down to anyone. She also seems down-to-earth because she's aware that everyone's body shapes and lives are indeed different. She does exude TRUE class, and she's also unafraid to publicly admit her own occasional mistakes and downfalls.
Anna, I really want to thank you for your videos. I recently decided I was tired of looking like everyone else and wanted to be as classy as my beloved grandmother was. I shopped preowned, I went for classic, but high quality items. I press everything. I had my boyfriend buy me one gorgeous handbag, I bought chanel perfumes second hand, I kept my makeup classy, did my own nails and gave myself my own blow-outs. I am amazed at how people treat me now, they notice me! Women chat with me at the grocery store, men stumble to hold the door for me, and I recently got a job at a fine winery. My greatest secret- I live in a trailer park. So cheers beauty, to helping us create a beautiful life.
KittySwrive I am too!! I am also really interested in what the other women have to say about being marginalized as a women of color. I think one of the biggest problems in our country right now is Caucasian women are totally in the dark about what ya’ll go through. I definitely don’t know and would love to know more. I love the way she presented herself with class, dignity and self control. I was able to hear what she had to say became s of it!
I rarely comment on RU-vid videos. I discovered you after watching this morning. I’m already married with a newborn and just want to look and feel neat, tidy and elegant. I like the fact you use images of black women as well. The advice you gave is invaluable especially on neutral natural colours and statement pieces. Thank you so much for sharing. I now understand what to buy x
Ashley Victoria you missed the point of her comment. She is talking about the diversity of the models in the pictures used in the vid to illustrate her points.
Where are they going dressed like that? Do they wear that everyday? Can you do a video on how to dress casual for an everyday look but still look expensive?
I definitely dress like that on regular days and if I’m going somewhere with my son I play down the shoes. It’s actually really fun to put together outfits.
@@theothertyrabanks7799 Yes, I enjoy getting dolled up but I usually only dress nice if I'm going somewhere. I guess I need to change the places I go. So do you hang with other women who dress nice as well? Or do you usually go out alone? If you are out with someone who doesn't dress as nice do you play it down?
@@Risha-ReneI, exactly! I understand dressing up if you work in an office, or are going out shopping with friends, going out to dinner, etc. However, I don't work in an office. Plus, 29 days out of 30 in a month I'm not doing fun or fancy things. Instead, when I'm at my best I'm with a bunch of kids or taking care of my animals, cleaning, cooking, running errands, and just generally getting things done in jeans and a sweater or a t-shirt with my hair up in a messy bun or ponytail. Unfortunately, most days, I suffer with chronic pain and I'm exhausted and/or visiting medical professionals. I'd love to know what or if there are nicer (and simple) wardrobe choices for casual or housework-filled days. Is that a thing?
As a retired wardrobe stylist, it can be very difficult to determine what looks "classy" on ourselves. That is why actresses, etc hire someone to do this. Your suggestions are spot on. In the US stores such as Nordstrom may still offer this service at no charge. But a good honest friend, with the taste you are trying to emulate, can be a big help. Or a friend who wants to learn this skill with you. And yes, it's all about the fabric. But that must be learned. Go to a store where the high end designer clothes are and actually touch the fabrics to learn. Eventually one will be able to just visually skim the racks at a thrift store and pick out the hidden gems at a glance. Cashmere, silk...yummm....they just feel good to touch.
I honestly have almost my entire wardrobe thrifted and almost every time I meet with friends or so they keep asking where do I get my clothes, where did you find that blouse/bag/boots etc. It's all about knowing what is suitable for your body shape, attitude and finding clothes made from good and quality materials. It also matters to have "an eye for fashion" but as you said, these days we can inspire from others and we don't have to build up some unique style or something
some of these comments are really uncalled for and rude, if you are not looking for advice on how to improve the the way you and others view you as a person, then do not watch the video(not being mean just a fact)! why do people think they have to spread negative behavior)? My grandma taught me a phrase when dressing me to go out, “Always take pride when you go out and your light will never hide, because if you look like trash you will treated like trash and no one wants to be trash because, trash always gets thrown away! Have pride and demand respect and dressing your best everyday, putting your best face forward is not a upper class wealthy thing, it is a self recognition and self pride-It is telling the world "I am fabulous with out saying a word!" So be nice to this lady she is trying to help you find your inner strength and beauty.
I am on a old navy, Walmart budget. I CAN find simple looks that will fit into what this video is saying. I think the people who are making the harsh comments need to open their minds a little bit.
please show me where u shop real leather handbags is old navy or walmart, I'd love to have a real leather bag on old navy budget. her saying "beauty isn't cheap, you have to invest" goes kind of sideways with "on the budget" idea of the video haha
Shop at better stores during sales. I learned a long time ago that better stores have great sales. You'll pay the same price but you'll have something that's 4 times the quality. Also, check ebay frequently for new quality leather bags. I buy my Coach bags that way. $50 for a brand new leather Coach purse that I'll have for many years. If you don't like Coach, look for other makers. But you get the idea. Also, go looking in the best stores to train your eye to #1. color (upper-class colors are often noticeably different than lower class colors); #2. styles; #3. fabric. Then duplicate what you learn at the lower price points.
You can find Zara and higher quality classic style clothes on Poshmark and Thredup. Many of the items are used ("pre-owned" or "pre-loved".). There is a risk that some people will sell you stinky clothes but you will learn how to avoid this. Also, many online thrift/ consignment shops also sell new and never been worn clothes. 🌺
You can go for brands like crimson club, Louis Philippe , and some local brands they give you same kind of quality over an affordable price also I don't trust online shopping for clothes I directly go to the stores and buy my clothing
I struggle with trying to make my outfit elegant when it comes to prints. I love prints... Animal, floral Etc. and sometimes I feel like my bias makes me overlook whether my look is elegant or not. So please make a video on how to wear prints elegantly! Thank you Anna!
Yeah sure. I can't believe or imagine spending 100s for a leather handbag to look great to someone who might or will pay attention. What value would this add to my life? I have leather bags preowned and like new but to spend 100s...seriously to look good to someone else's eyes??? I rather look good for my kindness, empathy, care and welcoming and cooking delicious food for others...I couldn't care less about a handbag....
Very good tips. I noticed a lot of celebrity women like Jennifer Aniston and Halle Berry always wear simple and neutral colors when they're photographed by the paparazzi. During my tacky years, I always wondered why they dress so simple and they had all this money. Lol
Jennifer now dresses in neutral because Angelina Jolie dresses like that. All neutral colors. If you look at older pictures of Jennifer she dressed tacky.
Oh my gosh it seems really stressful to be around rich people! I like this style advice though. I think it will work well for my capsule wardrobe project.
Simplicity in my clothing is not boring as some of my friends feel ,but in my opinion it puts more emphasis on me. My smile, personality and heart stands out and this to me is exspensive now a days! Love your channel and your class A advice. We need more elegance and feminine details that draw the right attractiveness we as women deserve.
I love this youtube account :) In my opinion, people who can´t afford to buy expensive (or maybe not so expensive) clothes items and still manage to look elegant are the ones who really own the style. It's easy to buy expensive clothes and look amazing but investing little amount of money and still look elegant and classy is art.
Anna I cannot tell you enough how grateful i am to have found your videos. I am so thankful for the great effort you have put into creating exceptional content. I am a student of school of affluence and it is truly AMAZING!!!
Me too! I found these off-brand Italian leather shoes at Marshall’s or TJ Maxx that are Chanel look-alikes, Navy/beige…I love them. They’re also totally comfortable and will always be in style.
I’ve subscribed to this channel for quite a while, and the reason I subscribed is because I learned about fashion and you are very knowledgeable. I watched it every now and then when I had time. But I started to revamp my wardrobe to better investment pieces not impulse buying. Today, it’s Sunday and I was rearranging my room I listened to the channel marathon and I really like you even more! You’re very pleasant, lots of life experiences to share like every woman’s big sister we can talk about everything. I love your channel and look forward to watching more!!! I especially love the Law of attraction part and the “Secret” book. That is a great book. Thank you so much. Anna!!!!
Künstlerin-DAB1995 I don’t know what leggings you’re wearing, but mine aren’t exposing anything. With a baggy hoodie too? Literally the most comfy and concealed outfit for lockdown☕️
Rich people regularly purge their closets and give to Goodwill Stores. It makes them feel like they are giving to charity. Go dressed in disguise to The Bins. They sell those items for 68 cents per pound !!!! I went with three pair of latex gloves and dug through the piles of clothes for an hour, to find a high class lable of pure white woolen slacks and an elegant jacket for 68 cents a pound! You can imagine what I paid for those two items...NOT $500.00 US !!!!!
jewel tone colors look classy, like garnet, maroon, sapphire or eggplant purple. eggplant purple is flattering on most skin tones and skin undertones, too.
To add on to the wonderful advice. I like to do “high low” where I mix high end staple pieces with lower end trendy pieces. This way you can effortlessly add that pop of color into your wardrobe.
Or you could do it by adding some metallic pieces to your wardrobe - could be colorful leather or silk lame (always look super expensive)! As well we sequins, especially oversized ones!!
Hiya. I recently came across you on This Morning. I'm happily married now with a 6mo baby. Although I'm not looking to marry and happy with my "poor" husband...he makes me happy, makes me feel confident, pushes me to chase my ambitions, he's respectful towards my family...only in the past week he cooked food and took some over to my mum in containers, fixed my little brothers beard cheek line lol, gifts to my family from his short trip to London etc etc (things he definitely doesn't need to do) ....all things a "rich" man would never ever do! (Any tips to become rich without marrying up would be greatly appreciated haha.) All that aside, I really admire you and your channel. Girls (and women) seem to be getting lost in this social media obsessed world, completely losing track of what actually looks pretty (boxy eyebrows no thanks!) so its nice to see someone who is willing to teach us how to look elegant for our proposed or present husbands. I feel like I've neglected my self since having baby....my life is now about breastfeeding and changing nappies! (That said I loveeee being a mum!) so its nice to know what I should be doing to make the most of myself. You come across very sweet and possess a beauty from within! X
ceah01 Some rich people are rich because they think time is only money. So they don't do things for free. And they don't spend money on small little gifts, they save it all or spend it on themselves. I know not everyone is the same but of the men I've dated, the ones with less were more generous with time and money, and the ones with more were more frugal, less generous, and they weren't very nice actually.
Rosebud It seems to me that you ARE wealthy! Respect for you, supportive of your interests... (most men care more about THEIR interests and never even bother to know what your dreams are because they focus on THEM. Yes...I say you are definitely wealthy!💜
I'm not a black woman, but I really liked how you included all types of beauty. Let's face it, black is the color of beauty and is harder for us white woman to keep up with beauty if you are not very naturally blessed with pretty face features and even skin 😣
Raquel Rodriguez I don't mean that black is better than white, or that white is better than black. I just love how even black skin is. There's no ugly, honey. Everyone is beautiful in his/her own way. The beauty inside is what makes beautiful person.
I remember in high school I often got last pick of shirts I needed to wear for certain school events and I was a size medium and they would only have size 2xl. I asked the sewing teacher to teach me now to tailor the shirt to my size and she enough I did it and any time I got clothes that were too big I would tailor it to my size and get a ton of compliments from all the other students. I also wore a pendant all the time that everyone was always commenting on. I didn't realize it but apparently I always stood tall and confident and it was later I was told people really thought I was rich and had a good life even though I was dirt poor. All of this is very sound advice. Thank you
I loved this video, there are loads of similar ones out there but yours was the one I watched to the end and was interested in. I love Zara, so affordable and you can really find elegant things in there. I would always say if you want to look expensive and well put together always wear some makeup, even if it's just some lipstick, it makes all the difference. Thank you for the video 😄
Thank you so much. I really appreciate you fashion guidance. If some people think fashion doesn’t change life’s in a good way for the better, think twice. I attracted my first husband from the U.S all the way to Cuba with a beautiful prom picture combined with good vibes and positive energy. Thanks again.
I love you Anna... really love how you make elegance affordable and on a budget ... that's why I've been following you for years and years now and never stop learning from your advices ... thank you so much for your channel ... and your effort ❤️❤️ God bless you
I invested time in learning how to do my own waxes and maintain my cuticles. A lot of wealthy actually know how to do their own grooming which is part of why they tend to be well groomed. It’s easier to keep up with it when you can do it at a whim
Awesome video! I loveeeee your content! Can you do a video talking about the different high quality Italian leather handbags you've discovered that are less expensive?
If there are brands you love and suite your body type check Ebay to see if people are selling that brand. Sometimes you'll find brand new items still with tags or barely worn at great prices, good way to have expensive brands at affordable prices.
New subscriber. Finally a girlie channel for us gals who love and appreciate the finer things in life: with a hint of class, fashion, bougie-ness, fun, and style all wrapped into this Diva Fashionista club.
I applied what you are talking about a few days ago. There is a pottery barn in the more high end area of where I live and so I didn't want to get sneered, so I wore a pair of white pants with a tan sweater to keep it simple but chic, I got so many compliments and "good stares" (especially from high end men). And the kicker, the outfit was from Old Navy, I love old navy but lets face it, in a shopping center where they are selling Dolce & Gabbanna and Gucci, Old Navy might as well be the same as Walmart. But I kept it clean, simple, and tasteful and I was excepted in to their world, and honestly it really is addicting.
Such a beautiful, fine lady. ❤ I feel like we could be sisters or friends irl, not even kidding. Finally someone talking about that old-days elegance. You're an awesome mentor, honest and brilliant; so happy you're there. Also, your edits and content is *wholesome*. I'm in love with you.
I’m actually still a student, I work for part time job and pay for some bill every month and other things. However I can spend my money in good material things . I'm the one who is less likely to shop but once I can buy, I choose the most worthy item. That's why even though my closet is not to much, it's look expensive and suite me. Zara alway be my first choice
You know what but yourself a sewing machine , it’s a win win, you’ll learn to sew which is something new to you and you can start tailoring your own clothes so you’ll look fabulous
Thank you for all your tips. Could you consider doing a video for the mature woman..on a budget..covering both dressy and casual looks but keeping in mind as we get older some of us cant wear the pretty high heels anymore! I hate that but its true!
Ana Aponte Check out Rothy’s! Not sure if she’d approve 🙄but I feel so classy and beautiful in my Rothy’s point. They are washable and dress up any outfit.
I find that the clothing for mainstream has really gone downhill. so much garbage out there. as a plus size woman, it is a constant struggle trying to find where to buy quality clothes. at least on the West Coast of Canada. Also, I find that the people making plus size clothes have no clue what they are doing. an example of this would be spaghetti straps on bathing suits. I can clearly see, from one season to the next, shopping at the same store how much cheaper fabrics are. It's a real shame and people don't seem to be that upset. is it just me? Great video. It's never too late to give these tips a try. I think the better you look the better quality partner you will find. it's about the kind of people we attract. right?
May I suggest that instead of using the word "expensive" to describe the look we are striving for, using the word "affluent" would be more appropriate and descriptive.
@@adrianavargova Using the word "affluent" to describe a certain style, whether it be in fashion or otherwise, would be more appropriate and elegant in this context (as a suggestion from a native English speaker).
Dear Anna, I must leave a comment on your eyeshadows, it really makes your blue eyes stand out ✨ Thanks for the video, I'll definitely apply these tips 💖 amables saludos desde Sudamérica
Honestly, elegance radiate from how you project yourself physically. I mean fashion helps but if you don't have the grace, the sophistication and the class to present yourself, no matter how classy and elegant you dress up, you really look like a trash to the real trained eyes. Even if you are just wearing your pajamas but you command respect by how you move and talk, etc, you comman class and elegance. But fashion also is the other VP. But it should come with the package.
Thank you Anna for your exemples of elegance. I just want to mention, that the artificial looking colours and even neon exist in nature. But you are right, that they do not look elegant.
This video is more real and lets one have great tips while not burning a hole in the pocketi. Thanks for all the tips the last no.10 tip nailed it so well.
Love every one of your videos. Yes, I truggle choosing the right style for my 5' 3 frame. I would like to create that elegant chic look even at my height. I am 65 years old, people tell me that I look in my late forties. That might be true, but I still want to wear clothing that youthful yet age appropriate. Need help choosing the right style. That goes for outerwear, bedclothes and especially around the house. Keep up the great work!
Thank you, a very useful video! I am attending a very expensive gym, because I think it's always a good idea to invest in your health and well-being, but I feel "poor" there, because I don't want to allocate a lot of my budget for clothes, it just doesn't make sense to me. I want to spend my resources wisely.
it would be amazing if you can make a video about entertaining people in your home! The best etiquette to make everyone feel welcome and serving the food in an elegant way!!!
You do not need brand names or high end clothe. The tips she provides can be applied to many things. Ensure the clothe you buy are a fairly good quality. I am a Kohl and JcPenney clearance rack girl. Ive been applying many of the tips she has provides in clothe, makeup and manerism and i will have to say that ive been receiving a lot of compliments from people of both genders and all kind of ages. Applying the knowledge she shares it is worth it.
Ladies be true to who you are. Don't need to be fake. You can wear high street fashion and still look amazing. Be confident without being stuck up. Men don't want fake they want true woman who are happy with what they have.
There's nothing wrong with bright colors too; it just has to be done right, like the woman in bright yellow featured here (that wasn't a pastel yellow). Bright colors are also found in nature -- look at flowers!
