To love others well, we must first love God, then we can correctly, effectively, and sufficiently love others. God is love and we are to represent God’s love in the world. Biblical love doesn’t start with an emotion or feeling. It starts with a decision. Love is a choice. Love is a decision. Then we do acts of love- the 10 ways to Love list and the emotion of love will follow. Biblical love is the decision to compassionately, righteously, responsibly, and sacrificially seek the well being of others.
When you read the list and the bible verses, you will find suggestions, admonitions, reminders, behaviors, and responses. All based on God’s word. Some of them seem simple to do, some are a stretch, and others are on a pedestal, and we must strive to respond that way in our relationships. No matter how they affect you, it is a good list to spend time scribing, journaling, and creating a junk journal filled with God’s word.
