The intro reminds me that having a REEL is also really important in order to showcase your work to potential clients with just one short video. Thank you for the amazing video! I felt really inspired!
Good points. One thing that came to my mind in terms of wedding videography is this: it's a sinkhole. When you're starting out, do a few weddings and realize that you're making good money, often much more than your friends, it's hard to stop. You start to rely on these weddings, because you didn't have time or, frankly, feel like branching out. Out of nowhere comes burn out, because these things are just so repetitive and out of the sudden you find yourself grinding these things non stop, desperately looking for some other form of video-centric employment. But nobody really wants to hire the "wedding" guy for a serious project... Not saying this is the standard, not saying everyone ends up like this, but I've seen a few of my friends struggle... So just beware and stay creative ;)
@@BlakeDavis42 I know this industry. It's not like you come off the street and start working. Success will be achieved by a percentage of those who will start this business.
Just start shooting, do it as a hobby rather then expecting big payoffs, and eventually, by practicing it that way you can start earning, here and there. That's what i do! My videos are by far not this level of quality, but each one i make is better then the previous, and i already got a few gigs!
I focus on WHY not HOW . I started for my mental health I’ve always enjoyed photography and dabbled in video but now I have my son’s preloved iPhone SE .. I’m loving learning. If it I start stressing I stop .. then I’ll be out and think ooo that would make good content- all the best to you 🙋♀️
Excellent Video Jake and Parker. I'm in the group since 2017 and it's an excellent community. Thanks Parker and the team for all the help and knowledge.
My first client ever… $25 grad shoot… Second client the next year $70 grand shoot… Third client $70 grad shoot same year…. The most recent one… on my my tutors/friend had a sister getting married, he asked me to shoot it for him…. I told him I’ll do it for free since he has done a lot for me…. It was a 2 days weeding… the first day I shot the videos and the photos…. And the second day … the main event… I asked him what he cares about more, the videos or photos and you guessed it right, they cared about the video more, so I told him he should hire a person for the video… he hired one of my friends for the video that charged him $800, yah my friend is a professional that’s why… but when I got done with the shoot that night he handed me a check saying it’s nothing much but my parents said you worked too hard and free doesn’t sound right, and the check read $300! I guess $300 is better than free! And after that I have been asked to shoot about 4 weddings and other shoots too but I always doubt myself and tell myself the pics won’t come out good so I just tell the clients no,,, cuz usually it’s friends and their friends and I don’t want to mess up their events! But Im gonna get started again cuz I guess you get what you paid for haha!
this video is also about making money by selling online courses, another great way... there is one thing that some in the freelance is loosing gradually... passion...
The thing I hate with that kind of videos is that they show all these amazing shots and cinematic sequences , without mentioning gear….do you even think for a second that you can film the first cinematic sequence with just your 500$ camera and kit lens ? 😂 To do EVERYTHING this dude showed here, you absolutely need great gear, not the best, but an expensive a@s camera, enough lenses to get many angles, gimbals, a beast pc and the list goes on…to make 100k$ per year, you need to invest 100k$ in gear….nobody tells you that…it’s not as simple as a RU-vid dude says
@@wcsdiaries exactly….and let’s assume you can get a pretty decent frame rate…with a 1-1.5k$ camera you can have great frame rates….even if you have a great camera….you need accessories, tripods, rails, gimbals, which may cost more than a camera….nobody tells you that…it’s just a clickbait title
I bought a canon RP with EF- RF adapter as an upgrade for my 1300d, I dont know if thats a good camera for cinematic or media production work but for photography definitely is a W. Lastly I also planning to rig the camera for cinematic use I would like an advice for which rig should I buy as well as the gimbal.
I love how you give all experience of all this years in one video, that’s was very helpful for a lot of videographer’s including me, so thank you guys ♥️
I'm a FTF student, and work mainly with events... shot many events such as ROCK IN RIO, and many artist such as CHALIE PUTH, JESSIE J, MARTIN GARRIX and many others. If you need some numbers and how it is Behind the scenes, would be glad to have a talk on the community :)
Soon as im done with the course i just paid for about a week ago…Im joining this…this is awesome 👏🏾 it’s so much i want to learn and i think this may be the place to learn it from. To you and your team…GREAT JOB!!!
@@fulltimefilmmaker in my experience, wedding clients are so much nicer than real estate agents haha. The work isn’t hard in real estate, but the agents I was working for were unbearable.
I've shot hundreds of real estate videos.. it is pretty low stress if you set up the right environment for yourself (aka, sellers, gtfo lol). But in general, the real estate industry is high stress for sure.
There use to be a video like this that Parker did, 10 things or something that he did starting out, one of the steps mentioned using his footage as stock footage . Where did that video go? I loved that, so inspiring @fulltimefilmmaker
Does it also depend on the area you are located in? I have tried real estate, weddings, local commercials and most rather use their phone to do it themselves and or use the local news station's media package for them to shoot and air on the station. So frustrated.
This is a great video, but i am a beginner and was just wondering where do i start I want to film music videos and sports events but how do i start, what can i do to practise
Located out of big city areas is hardcore expert difficult to do this. Even your skills are high-end. I've located in eastern Europe with more than average skills myself. Watching your videos to get some motivation and learn pro tips.
omg i`m bouncing between to buy the sony a6100 or the dji mini 2. I`m making shortfilms with my friends and sometimes stop motion and some other stuff with my iphone 11. should i buy a camera and then a drone or the drone first. Is the dji mini 2 actually worth it.
It's cheap if you consider how much money you should make if you apply yourself after taking the course. You're talking about a career than can make you millions over the course of your life if you're actually dedicated to success
