Merry Christmas! I just found you not long ago, and honestly, I have been on a journey to dye less for about a year. I tried henna and could not get a color I liked. I too am almost black-haired. I got sick of it or the demarcation line and chopped it all off to a pixie. I was your style Nikol but perhaps a little longer, for a hundred years. My hair now is so fricken easy! I don't have to wash it often because it is coarse and dry. I have not been happier! I feel like I look pretty good and it is so easy. I am 59 and been coloring since I was 22 and going gray. I started feeling like all the chemicals could not be doing good things for me...I love it...and not one person has criticized me...
I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. I am sitting here just washed my hair and listen to you as I have it wrapped to dry. I have a fine-combed old t-shirt I use to dry my hair. I have dried many other ways and this one has done well for my curly hair. I am excited to hear more helpful tips on how to do self-care. 2021 will be an exciting year.
Thank you Nikol for all your helpful tips! Washed my hair everyday for most of my life...now I finally learned to wash every third day and my hair is healthier. Hope you had a Merry Christmas!...and wishing you and yours a Happy New Year!
I wish I had known you 20 years ago when I started going gray in the front of my head. I too had a streak of white and my students started calling me salt and pepper. Girls want to braid my hair when we had a school dance for the last couple of hours on Fridays. Then we relocated and I had my hair down to my waist, and the same, girls wanted to go at my hair. Last year I wanted to add dark highlights and to my surprise, the lady who did my hair did not want to do it because girls and younger ladies paid lots of money to have it like me, so, she just did a bob like yours Nikol. Now thanks to Covid, I do my hair in layers by myself; to my surprise, like my mom would have said, you have a good hand. My hair grows very fast and the circle starts again. Love what you do!
Nan Greer Nikol, Merry Christmas to you and your family! These are such wonderful hair tips! Thanks so much for the Christmas photo of your darling Frenchies.
Merry Christmas! I am new and starting at your step #1 my hair is box colored black, many broken pieces, and grey coming in. This is the start of my journey to grey. Thank you.
Hi there, I have not colored my hair for about 11 weeks on my journey to go all silver. I did this 15 years ago and it looked very pretty but I ended up coloring it again after a divorce. It’s growing out very slowly and I’m being impatient of having to go through this for another year or two again. So, I am seriously contemplating doing the bleaching and toning. Most women say that it wrecked their hair but I saw a post recently have someone who did it very carefully and it came out beautifully. What are your thoughts on this? If I do it I know I will come back to this video because the bleach will definitely damaged my hair, to a degree I don’t know. Thanks so much for making these tutorials. And by the way you are crazy beautiful :-)
@@nancyandrews8891 Have you joined the Facebook group silver sisters? If not, I highly recommend. Many many women helping one another through the process.I’ve been asking a lot of questions. It appears the only way to make it go faster is to do a bleaching and toning process but the need to bleach at least twice can cause serious damage to your hair. And, of course, cut it really short. Hope this is helpful.
Hi! I did the bleach-thing and it was a very bad decision. I tell people, "Just grow it out without bleaching it; put temporary color sprays if you need to." Also, I should have invested in a good wig.
@@juliea. thanks for responding. What happened when you bleached it? I let it grow out 15 years ago with some lowlights and it took 2.5 years. a friend who is a stylist talked me into coloring it again when I got divorced. Really regret that decision because I have to start all all over again. I am now pushing 70 and don’t have much patience for the growing out process. I am seriously considering getting a wig.
@@ramblingrose9919 I always did my own dyeing, but I knew I would need a professional's help. I very well couldn't hop on a plane to see George Martin (he specializes in matching your gray), so I went to my usual hairdresser...and found out she is not a color expert. She lifted the black boxed dye and then bleached it. My hair had orangey highlights, eek. So I went back in about a month and at my request, she did another round of bleach/highlights and my hair was so damaged. It even broke off! I could not even run my fingers through my hair. I'll never recommend lightening hair to lessen a demarcation line. I should have just cut it short and grown it out, OR invested in a good wig. Total grow-out time was 2 years.
I love ❤️ your 10 tips videos. The information is always so practical. Everyday ideas. I’m headed home today. I’m gonna stop and pick up a mask and deep condition my Moms hair before I shampoo/set it. She’ll look fabulous for our Christmas breakfast Sunday morning. Thanks!
Thank you so much for this and you have been a big help. I now know what I need is layers. I haven't had a cut since Feb and had a pixie at that time but now its quite long and I see a lot of spit ends. You look gorgeous as usual. Merry Christmas!!
Happy holidays! My hair has adjusted to being washed once a week! I have curly, dry hair and do not use a dry cleaner - I hate the way they make my hair feel and my scalp itch. I think after a while the sebum production balances out. I slowly increased days between washes. If needed I may use conditioner and rinse once during the week but my hair tends to look it’s best 4-5 days after washing.
I want to tell you that I do enjoy your videos a lot.......you are very natural and your energy feels so positive........blessings............HAPPY HOLIDAYS...........MINDY
You are such a wonderful inspiration. Your videos are so positive, which is so needed right now more than ever. Wishing you good health and much happiness in the New Year. Keep it positive, keep it silver! 🙂
Merry Christmas Nikol❣ Love your hair..and you have never steared us wrong. Thank you for taking time out of your day for us - I thank you my hair thanks you 😘
I like washing my hair everyday, but it’s not damaged. I get trims about every 8 weeks. And I also use a lot of these tips. Your moms hair looks amazing
I got a Mason Pearson brush a few years ago and rarely use it. I find the tips do not have a ball or are rounded on the ends and it's very irritating to my scalp. I have a dupe for it by Revlon and have used it for a long while. These are great tips for the New Year. Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas to you and thank you for our video today. You look beautiful and so inspire me to make myself look the best I can. Enjoy your Christmas Day and everyday.
Trying to grow out my layers below the mask and face shield elastics. So I don.’t have 100 pieces sticking out in 100 directions. Goal is pony tail and no pieces. Trying to tame the chef’s hat look. I could benefit from the hair mask!
Merry Christmas to you and your family. What would you suggest for hair thinning? I am 67 years old and I have thin hair, but in the last 3 years it is very thin you can see my scalp. I also went to a pixie cut and love the layers.
Nikol: I don't shampoo every day, but I do rinse every night with warm water to get the day's yuck out of my hair. The heat from the water distributes the oil on my scalp down the hair shaft and I can go t least 3 days w/o shampooing, yet not feel greasy at all.
Hi Nicole, I always hear "don't wash your hair often", but my dermatologist recommended differently saying I was getting scalp build up from using products to extend my wash day. Ladies, talk to your dermatologist before going too long without a good shampoo.
This is Paula Goins-Walters. So enjoyed your video. I have been dealing with damaged hair since February. I have about seven more inches until I will be totally silver (gray), plus at that point all the damaged hair will be gone too. My hair had gotten so damaged by the hairdresser trying to rush my silver that it broke off in sections a little at a time. I was devastated! My lifesaver was the Better Not Younger masque along with the shampoo and rinse. Thanks to you for making this transition easier. My hair is not the length that I would like with all the cuts, but I can manage. I am finding that I like shorter (your present length) maybe a little better on me. Once again A Big Thanks To You! Merry Christmas!
Can you give me a link to find the Mason Pearson brush? I need more details. What size brush did you buy ? Is it only boar bristle or is it nylon and bristle? Also I need the link for the micro fiber towel please!
Please wear your hair natural for video. Would love to see it! I have been wearing my natural waved since 2012. Now I just use diffuser and blow out the bangs.
Hi, I wish you would list the products you recommend and, if possible, add links to where we can purchase them. I missed the name of the second hair mask you mentioned. Thanks
You know you try a teach the new generation And you know they don't want to listen. That's how so many children are the way they are today. Grandparents, great-grandparents, parents from back in the day. We know what we be telling you but they don't believe it. I told someone. You do not Wash. And I'm talking about my granddaughter. You cannot wash your hair Everyday Especially in the Willow tank. All that do is build up cold in your body This is why I like teaching my grandkids. My kids great grand kids. You have to listen without twe'd have been there and we know what we are saying.👸🏻
I think you look nicer with different liptick. This red lip stick is too bold and too bright. You have very sexy defined lips, do not let that strong color take over your beauty.
