I appreciate your channel because you don't say the same 10 things the other save money channels say and you speak to me, a single mom, who needs to find nitty gritty ways of saving money. Many years ago, I saw a hotel use a very cute basket filled with rolled up, small, hand towels instead of paper towels. I purchased 2 packs of inexpensive, white washcloths. I have a larger basket of folded washcloths for drying my hands and a small basket for the used ones in the bathroom. I wash the towels together. I use bleach if someone is feeling ill. I noticed that my family was not sharing colds as much. Think about wiping your hands on the damp hand towel your coughing child just used. Being a school teacher, I know how quickly germs spread. Over the years, I have replenished the washcloths. I use the ones that are not "guest pretty" for my rag bag. I don't keep the rags out for multiple re-use over days. They just go in the washcloth laundry load. Now, I only use paper towels to clean up the litter box or some other possibly infectious mess. I save money on not buying paper towels and on not being ill from sharing a cold.

Wonderful ideas! I like the small washcloths for hand drying! I will definitely be trying that one!

Yes, to the dehumidifier toilet! It's amazing that we can use the air in our own houses as a free water source!

My brother in law made me reuse my tea bags. I don't buy paper towels anymore. I made reusable ones on my sewing machine.

I cut my own hair. There are many hair cutting videos on youtube, but I have found Brad Mondo to be the best. He's got a great personality and his techniques are very easy. Since I have been doing this, people think I have gone to a salon. Also, for those of you wondering if Dollar Tree hair color is good or not, again, that's all I use. It is just as good as more expensive brands. I have also been complemented on my hair color as well. If you have patience and take your time, you can do your own hair for pennies.

Good to know about the Dollar Tree hair color! I've used allergy medicine and facial masks from Dollar Tree with good results, so I'd be willing to try the hair color. Thanks for sharing!

I use my dehumidifier water for plants. But cooking in the dishwasher is a hard NO…the temperature doesn’t stay consistent during the cleaning cycle so you aren’t getting it to a certain temp. Food poisoning can kill so I’ll invest in a more convenient and consistent cooking method. With that said, for my family of 2 we don’t use the regular oven and only my large toaster/convection oven for all our baking needs.

I wouldn't be fussed to water the plants with dehumidifer water. It's basically just distilled water that will be exactly as clean as you keep your machine. Yall know what the plants grow in right? Dirt. They'll be fine.

Yep, some of the topics you mention were weird. In regard to water uses, I will let the water I boiled eggs in cool and then water my plants. I also collect water from the hot water tap that hasn't gotten hot yet. Depending on where your hot water heater is located, it sometimes takes a while to get hot water. In my situation, my heater is several feet from my hot water tap in the shower. I collect a gallon of water until the water is warm enough for a shower. Thanks for sharing.

We set our heater to 55° in the winter, so the pipes don't freeze, have for years, and we wear warm clothing all day and warm night clothes and blankets all night. I am also going to start wearing a hoodie in case my ears or head gets cold, so I can pull up the hood part... I used to make diapers out of old t-shirts, I now use cut-up t-shirts for reusable toilet paper. I cut up toothpaste and other tube's to use the last bits up, because I use the squeezer thing, then cut the toothpaste tube and still get up to 2-5 more days of toothpaste out of that tube. I have dumpster dived and I have also done what I call curb crawling, which is just asking homeowners if I can take things that they have put out next to their trashcans. I also çut my own hair, and add water to bottles of soap, shampoo, etc... I do not save water for plants since my soil won't grow food because of all the walnut trees.

Well done, you must save £££s. l have never tried dumpster diving, too late now as we are in our 70's but we buy new fleece hooded jogging sets every yr in Autumn/Winter to wear indoors. They are incredibly warm & loose enough to layer underneath( with thermal tights for me or mens thermals for him, long sleeve tshirts etc & my hm slipper socks l make for both us us from recycled wool). l make head/ear warmers in soft wool to wear around house/in bed as we dont heat our bedroom for health reasons.We then use the old sets to wear for gardening in Winter in our veg plot.

Being a senior with incontinence that's a lot of toilet paper per week! So when the toilet paper shortage started in 2020 thanks to COVID-19 , I started using a bidet bottle & cloth wipers. Use different colors for front & back sides. So much $$$ saved! I too use wash cloths for hand drying. Instead of buying plastic or Pyrex storage containers, or Tupperware, I buy Supperware at the grocery store. All those wonderful glass jars that have the added bonus of food in them already! 🤣🤣🤣♻️♻️♻️

I collect water from my A/C unit. I live in the south, where it is humid . I collect about 15 gallons a day is then used to water trees. I will be saving my pasta water for plants. It is a great idea. I already cut open lotion bottles, est... to get the last bit.

I’m going to try the pasta water for my plants. As far as the reusable toilet paper, I haven’t tried that, but I could see where one would use that for Pee, and reserve the paper for poop. I don’t think that would be too difficult to launder if it was needed.

There is dumpster diving, which I have done at Flower shops - be careful of broken vases. There is also dumpster bying, i.e. what is by the dumpster. These items are often set out the day after pick-up day intentionally. Soap slivers can be used to make liquid soap or "soap on a rope" using leg 🦵 of panyhose. Reusable TP may work for bidget owner.

Just having a dish washer is much too lazy for me, come on people why would you. DISH WASHER?????
@TexasRiverGirl
@TexasRiverGirl 3 часа назад
I don’t have a dishwasher I hand wash, but one thing I do know you cannot get the water temperature anywhere close to as hot as what a dishwasher does. So the dishwasher does sanitize dishes, much better than handwashing.
