I saw this movie late, late, late on TV one night ages ago and I still believe it is underrated. I would love to know more about the Cadillac in the movie, too!
Definitely one of my favorite hero/anti-hero cars. I remember watching this movie on DVD nearly every day after getting home in my highschool days. It made me admire this generation of the Barracuda so much. Thanks for the vid! 😎👍🏻
Being a Mopar guy what cracked me up was when they revealed it was a superstock Cuda, those things with that hemi handled like a dump truck with flat front tires and a rocket strapped to the back, those caddys the bad guy had would literally be able to drive circles around it. A little bit of useless trivia, Chrysler was so serious about winning races in order to save weight they did away with the window mechanism and used a seat belt to hold it up and the glass was way thinner than stock which meant that when racing the torque from the hemi would twist the body and the side windows would bind in the frame and shatter. None of the original ss cudas or darts if it was raced have the original side windows.
Thank you! You probably found the tread on A-Body mopars only forum I wrote couple years ago. All your infos are correct. Apparently the Barracuda was sold by the owner in Ohio but don’t have any details on it. Fun fact: Robert Racki was the main stunt driver for this car and broke is arm in one scene when he was laying on the hood of the caddy at the junkyard scene.
Highwaymen is an awesome movie and has been one of my favorites for a long time now. It really deserves much more attention. This movie should be as iconic as Christine.
Coincidentally i was watching the final chase from car chase wonderland a few days back about this movie. Both the 68 cuda and 72 el dorado were good cars in the movie
I stumbled across this movie late one night by accident and really enjoyed it. I would definitely recommend checking it out. Another great video, my friend. 💪👍
that's some next level suckage finding out we lost a musclecar for a damn Herbie movie. especially when you gotta figure the danged ol' VW bug made it thru the movie just fine. that is beyond not right. thank you sir for another excellent bit of knowledge.
My dad has had one of these (not from the movie but the same year) and its been around since my sister was born he's giving it to her for her wedding this year
Oh Yes great choice. Didn’t even come to theatres near me when it came out I had to order it to watch it. They made great choices for the look and I sound of the Cuda were perfect. Liked the villains Caddy as well. Thanks for making these videos!
Another movie you could do is "Destiny Turns on the Radio". It's an old Tarantino movie where the devil drives a B5 blue Roadrunner with the dealer spinner hub diplays on the front wheels.
I LOVE THIS CHANNEL!! You know why? Not only does it cover awesome cars from some of the best movies to come out of Hollywood, but also open my eyes to hidden gems such as this one! Had never heard of this movie before watching this video earlier today. Paused it part way through to watch the movie and WOW did I enjoy it!! Can’t go wrong with an old school Mopar and Jim Caviezel is a phenomenal actor to boot! Thank you!!!
Very good subject choice here! Yes, an underrated movie, not just for the story or cars either, Caveizel was excellent in this role. As well as a lovely Rhona Mitra!
Great video👌 Like the movie and of course the Barra. BO29 Barracuda Super Stock definitely changed drag racing and it's still among the best factory dragsters💪🏁
My neighbor had a real 68 Barracuda (not the super stock in the video) just the barracuda was one of the sweetest cars l have ever seen and had had a ride in . The only thing he did to it was bored out the engine and for that he had to ramp up the motor mounts.
I had 2 68 barracudas at same time...an awesome formula S 340 4 speed convertible and my daily fastback 225 auto. They are super good looking cars. Lots of parts support
My favorite movie car. Highway 61 also made a 1:18 scale diecast super stock barracuda. A couple different paint colors but i got one of 600 made in red with a black hood.
As a Mopar guy I had a good day today. At work I did an Earl change on a Ram T Rex. And then tonight I got to see this waycool videos on the Super Stock Barracuda. Thanks my brother! You always bring the Good Stuff! 😎
The car selection for this movie was awesome. Not what filmmakers typically go in for. Just wish it was longer. It doesn’t even come in at an hour and a half. So much story potential left untapped.
Cool, I didn't bother looking into that since it was already gutted for the movie and I don't think livestreams are for me, lol. Thanks anyways though 😉👍
Yeah, I'll eventually make second rounds through my massive list for secondary cars in films I've already touched on, but it'll be awhile down the road 😉
As a Cadillac enthusiast, I watched the movie only because the bad guy drove a Cadillac. I love this movie and I think it's very underrated. Excellent job on the research as always. See you next time
Great to know and it motivated me to research and learn a fact I was unaware of-Frankie Muniz of Malcom in the Middle is a race car driver and has been for years.
I'm not a Mopar guy, but didn't '68s have side marker lights? someone mentioned this in a comment, and I don't see them in the white one at 1:41. I'd look more now but am watching the movie. Is a classic flick, lesser known and has a horror element, but is right up there with "Two-Lane Blacktop".
This movie made me really fall for the 67-69 barracuda's. I actually got my hands on a 67 factory manual car a few years ago. The plan is to give it a similar statement to the highway men car.
'Where are you cray this little game of our is going to end soon enough if you can stop me hahaha' as cray hears his bad guy talk over cb radio while park in the cuda readying his next move for our hero to finally get evil man who run down cray's wife years ago as today's video is a fortunate pick my buddy in making it because this movie was solid and intriguing with few twist included as for cuda it really deserves more love being a(not actually real hemi car) super stocker wouldn't work for chasing as they are bulit to drag race so maybe cray found frankenstein cuda somewhere in small town southwest region and made it suitable for him but anyway thanks carstarz on this video and one more thing to add at 7:05 mark i do have die-cast of both 68 cudas one shown in the video and formula s form M2 all right then got to go see you next time bye now.
That was cool. Never seen the movie but looks like fun. Plymouth had a lot of nerve cramming the 426 Hemi into those cars. Off topic now... in the remake of Dawn of The Dead there is a scene in a parking garage that highlights a 1969 Lemans blue Z/28 Camaro. It was bizarre and totally out of context with the movie. What's with that!?
Yeah, I'll eventually make second rounds through my massive list for secondary cars in films I've already touched on, but it'll be awhile down the road 😉
How about featuring the Mustang in the early eighties tv series Mike Hammer ,starring Stacy Keach , it seems it was a '65 coupe, I thought I remembered him having a fastback ??

Yo! The "What About Bob's" Dr. Leo Marvin's Wagoneer!! You told me to leave it by the marina. Getouttathegahhhh!!!! There should be a "smash that" Button that's 'Subscribed AF.'
MY SON MAX 8 YR.S AND I HAVENT SEEN THIS MOVIE ,, IVE BEEN IN THE MILITARY BUT WE GOING TO FIND THIS MOVIE,,.. MAX SAYS COOOL... I ONLY DRIVE NOW 60-70S CARS.. THANKS,,..
Its "factory Super stock class" If any of you wanna look it up. N.H.R.A is the sanctioned league of automotive racing of drag racing that has caused all of this.
maybe not used as much but in memorable set piece action scenes, black Porsche 964 Turbo , from BAD BOYS with Will Smith and Martin Lawarace, appereantly was personal car of director Michael Bay at time , he used as movie budget was low
Yeah, that one is on my to do list once making second rounds through the list eventually happens as I already covered the Cobra in that movie... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Ve29pUa6Ep8.html
I almost bought one back in 81 for $1000, but my fiancée decided that we needed a 4 door, as she was hoping for a baby... we broke up 2 months later, by then, the car had sold for $800...
