Quick correction: in 1 Corinthians 13 where Paul is saying “Love is patient, love is kind,” etc. the Greek word is actually Agapē. So he’s literally describing God Himself. Because 1 John 4:16 says that God IS actually Agapē. So what you said about it sort of still applies: this passage is not necessarily the best for weddings, as it is not talking about the love between a husband and a wife, but rather the characteristics of God Himself. This love is impossible for humans to demonstrate apart from the Spirit of God doing it through them. The only way for a husband and wife to be able to show this kind of love to each other is if they have God Himself in them and working through them.
This is pretty good. It really makes more sense when you use the scripture to interpret scripture. I've never seen that one and I love it. It makes so much more sense now. Thanks so much.
I am in awe at the way the Holy Spirit leads me to the things that I need to build and grow my relationship with God, the Father and Jesus Christ, my Savior. I've only recently discovered your channel and am so excited about the things I'm learning . Thank you for sharing these truths 🌷
I don't necessarily agree with you but I really enjoyed where you said "Worship isn't a passive act in a big room, singing songs, and listening to a sermon. Worship involves action and service." That made me think. Thank you.
This is just me, but I have always looked at praise as what we do when we come together as a church. We sing, read the word, thank God for his blessings etc. Worship is what we do in our life style that brings glory to God. We treat each other right, we forgive, we are kind, etc. This is worship. That’s my two cents.
Stand firm Karen. Your toughest spiritual test will be in the next few months. A lot of denominations teach that it will be "rainbows and joy" from here on out, but be prepared if it's not. Satan and his minions aren't concerned with unbelievers. They ARE concerned about new Christians. Get ready and buckle up. Your faith will be tested. Fear not, though. You have the best insurance policy in the world, but it will be tested. If you stumble, like we all do, don't be discouraged or afraid. You might even suffer for your faith in the future, especially the way the world has been going lately. Above all, KEEP the faith. I would encourage you to read The Screwtape Letters by CS Lewis. May God bless and keep You.
I'll never forget when I was 12 years old after a bible lesson, on the way home from church that night I asked my mom what was meant by Adam "knowing" Eve. That led to my first sex talk. That later led to me studying the bible completely differently, for the first time understanding that what SEEMS plain at first glance when reading the bible on its surface actually often means something completely different. This is why now when I discuss the bible with others I go right to the meaning of the WORDS before I talk about interpretation. But even that is fraught with difficulty, because depending on your audience's level of education and MOST importantly their desire to REALLY understand (rather than just wanting to argue) will determine whether you can have a rational discussion. It all boils down to whether God's Spirit is working in their minds to effect a change. Nothing you say can make a difference to someone who isn't being worked with by the Holy Spirit.
You’re right about the Holy Spirit. Unfortunately many try to understand through their own knowledge leaving out humbleness and complete surrender of themselves to God so that he may work in them and teach them. It’s surprising to realize how many church leaders preach about God and yet don’t know him and now I get why Jesus will say to some I don’t know you. (Pharisees) these people go to schools to learn theology to have a better understanding of God through other theologians instead of going directly to the source.
So very true! Any relationship with Raymond R. Moody? I adore the story of your sweet mama though! Who gave ya “the talk” was it your Dad? I think Cain & Able were twins with different fathers, & that the icky fruit was Satan. Abels dad was Adam. Happens a lot more often than people know (women pg w/twins from different men). I mean, reading the word is eye opening, learning the essence of the stories, being inspired by the Holy Spirit is Vital to getting as much out of it as is available. Blessings to you brother 😎🙏✝️

The first video of yours I have watched. So enlightening. You are a very good teacher. And I love that there is no background music. My father's hobby was researching the actual translation of scriptures by referencing the text in it's original language. He and several friends spent hours at the Dallas Public Library reading copies of ancient documents. One friend was fluent in Greek, another in Hebrew, and as I grew old enough to join them, I studied Latin.
Wow, nice work they did, but where are their research and results now? Did they get a chance to publish them or will all their hard work be lost and people will never know their certainly very interesting findings and interpretations?
@@t.r.1457 Sadly, I do not know where their notes and findings are. I would imagine Hector has them. I tried for years to find him, but failed. One of their translations was "Peace on earth and goodwill to men", they translated to "Peace on earth to men of Goodwill".

Very enlightening , thanks Brandon. I am constantly amazed that the Sabbath is taken as Sunday, but Jesus kept Saturday and as far as I can read, this hasn’t changed according to scripture.
Dear Greg, Thank you for bringing up the Sabbath error that western tradition brings. Sabbath is truly from Friday night to Saturday night and not Sunday. This confusion began with Constantine the Great with an edict requiring no work on Sunday and the suppression of Sabbath rest in the early fourth century (he was a worshipper of B Helios the sun God). Jesus met with his disciples on the first day of the week (probably just after Sabbath ended "Saturday night") as did many rabbis teaching disciples. So Sunday meetings became the day for study and with Western time, the meetings were held in the morning rather than Saturday night (the first day of the week: evening and morning, the first day). The Sabbath became confused with the meetings with Christ and thus Sunday became the western Christian sabbath because of the ignorance of scripture and demonic deception. But remember what Paul the Apostle to the gentiles wrote in 1Cornit
I am enlightened. Thanks. I now understand the true message of Jesus. We should live our life for God. We can serve and worship Him in our entire life by following all of His commandments.
I cannot express just how much your teaching on the meaning of these words has already changed how we see passages. We send hugs and gratitude for sharing your gift of teaching. Jesus loves you 😇❤
@@BrandonRobbinsMinistry Having 'the gift of teaching' does not mean the the teacher in question is actully teaching well proven facts. Such a teacher may well be good at teaching anything and make it sound well proven fact when it certainly is not. Having high moral standards and being very religious are not the same things. This is sooo deep yet so simple when looked at from the spiritual root and accepted with spiritual eyes. I would love to learn more Hebrew words. I took very good notes of these words you shared in this video and will renew my mind . My spirit is in agreement, my mind needs renewal to override what the modern day American church has botched up ( in my experience) to implify the depths of the heart heart with Christ written word. This was refreshing to my inner being. Clarification of Gods spirit one with me . I've been working for a couple years now to toss out what religion has taught me and seeking spirit and truth with out preconception from past teaching. The root of these words sing a sweet melody to my soul. Thanks Brandon I urn for the depth to know my Lord ❤️ my savior from the depths of my inner being!
I walked the same path as you, as an ex Muslim. The faith to put away those preconceptions was why I was rewarded with the Holy Spirit teaching while reading. Tho my spirit always knew my mind was filled with pre judgment of religion or what seems acceptable and adapted in my mind of what is right. Not easy to take that step of bringing foundations down but the lord rewards in multiples and magnitudes because of the faith.

🙏. Bless you for sharing your knowledge and spirit Joy with us. This short video has transformed my thoughts around words. Recently I went to the Greek Orthodox Church. Even though the liturgy was in Greek, and I only understood Kyrie Elison, it was beautiful and moving. How much richer my understanding would be had we been taught even basic Greek words during the 12 years I had Christian bible study in school. 🙏 bless those who teach the word of God.
An amazing lesson! Thank you! I only have one disagreement: Sunday isn't the 7th day. As Paul wrote, if we are Christ's, we are Abraham's children. On every 7th day, every Saturday, God seeks to bring us closer to Him.
What you say is correct as far as it goes. In the Jewish calendar the sabbath is the seventh day. This is the day in the Mosaic law to worship the Lord and to abstain from secular work. Admitting Christianity is deeply related to Judaism, Christianity is NOT Judaism. Christians - those who have a relationship with God through Jesus' sacrifice and nothing else, are NOT under the Mosaic law. Which means we do not have to sacrifice an ox every week or month, either. Nor are we obliged to observe "Sabbath" as dictated in the Mosaic law. Jesus the Christ rose from death - under His own power - on the first day of the week. Christians early started celebrating Sunday - the first day of the week, the Lord's Day, the day Jesus rose from death - as the Christian day of worship. After some seventy years of attending church on Sunday, the Lord has not disciplined me or revealed my sin in the matter. He sure has when I've stepped over the line in other matters, including tithing. He and I seem to be at peace about it.

I'm studying the bible for the first time in my life in middle age, and _this_ is what I need. Not evangelical preachers bellowing about who is going to burn. Thank you! This is fascinating stuff!
I was blessed by coming to the word at 50 years old, thank YAH/GOD I did not have a church background, there's so much more to the word than jumping in to the end of the book and end up with an empty faith based religion. Only YAH can open the ruach to let his true word in your heart.
How do you pronounce Yahuah. I heard in the Hebrew language you don’t pronounce the h so it sounds more like Yah is this correct? And Yahusha sounds like Joshua that’s why I’m Hebrews he says Joshua instead of Jesus.
Get yourself A Strongs Concordance With Hebrew and Greek dictionary. Then you can pick a verse apart and see what each word meant in its original language. Our Old Testament hasn't been messed with much at all. Copies of books from the caves of Kumran are identical to what we have today. The New Testament has been tinkered with starting back in the 1880s and forward. The Cepher is based on Kumran texts and is very good. I still like the Old king James myself even though I know that the translators bad some Personal biases. It is still very good.
Having a Strongs Concordance helps a lot. It gives you the Hebrew, Latin and Greek. Plus any word in the Bible is referenced in the Concordance and shows you every scripture that has that word in it. My son gave me a new Bible for my birthday, it’s a MacArthur Study Bible. It’s wonderful and has good commentary and foot notes to help understand what we’re reading.
Yes, that's true. MacArthur has some Calvanist tendencies in his commentary, so watch for those. Mostly it's very good. I use a NKJV MacArthur Bible myself. There is a Concordance Bible you can search for online. You can use it to quickly reference Greek and Hebrew words, and it translates them directly as well. Pretty useful.
Yes! Thank you Brandon- This is a topic so necessary for truly understanding the different interpretation’s of the holy scriptures as laid out in at least five different versions of the Bible offered in the English language.

Indeed language matter. I am an ex Christian evangelist that while learning Biblical Hebrew in order to translate the Bible accurately into portugues to my horror I found the deep deception and purposely mistranslation of words in order to change its meaning. I am converting to Judaism. Learn Biblical Hebrew while still free on RU-vid. Escape!
@@alegrefeliz7579 The New Testament was written in Greek. Why would Biblical Hebrew (the Old Testament) prompt you to convert to Judaism? If you are claiming that the errors were in the translation from Hebrew, that would mean the errors were in the Old Testament. While I will agree that there are translation anomalies in the New Testament, your statement doesn't make sense.
@Kevin Belgrove Take the example of the epistles of Paul, composing a large part of the New Testament...Paul was not writing to individuals in regions where Aramaic was spoken (Corinth, for example). He would hardly write in Aramaic to a Greek audience. Nor would he write in Aramaic to a Roman audience. Greek was very well understood by the Romans. Although there are Aramaic phrases used by Jesus, it is pretty well accepted that the New Testament was written in Koine Greek. My issue with mistranslations comes not from a debate about the language but about the deliberate additions and subtractions to the New Testament by Westcott and Hort.
@Kevin Belgrove Whether you call Him Yahushua or Jesus Christ, He is who He is. I am far more concerned with the total mistranslations, additions, and subtractions in the New Testament which alter its meaning.
Yes, He is the greatest person who ever lived. But He is so much more. He is the Son of The Living God. He is alive and He is seated at the right hand of God. Knowing about Jesus won't save you. But knowing Jesus as your own personal Lord and Savior will. Having a relationship with Him is the key.
Great job, Peter wasn't troubled because Jesus asked him 3 times "Lovest thou me" he was troubled because the third time Jesus asked him if he was even His friend. That passage never made sense to me before I learned a little about greek.
I think it’s because the first two times Jesus asked Peter if he loved him, he used the word agapeo, but the third time he used the word phileo, which was a friendship form of love… It’s interesting though, Peter responded with phileo all three times and never agapeo… so… not sure what that was about. It almost looks like, “Do you love me unconditionally?” “Lord, I love you… as a friend!” 🤪
In the NASB, the Greek says "love" in 1 Cor. 13 comes from agapeo (agape)...so...it still shows that instead of romantic love...it is love that seeks the highest good of/for the other person. Thank you for your efforts and enthusiam!
That is correct! And that can still be used in our romantic love relationship with our spouse. We should apply it to ALL relationships, therefore peace comes thru agape'
Yea, we ALL fall short of the love that God calls us to. And that's why we ALL need a savior! And none of us can do it without His divine (Emanating from God) help...

This makes sense, with how what the brother means by translations being "lost", not like what the rest of the world means. Problem I still can't find an absolute truth with variable historical evidentiary findings, not saying it doesn't exist just that I can't seem to find, where we are shown that those that witnessed the events were writing in Greek so that the connection could be made that when those that are collecting what we know as canonized books into Greek there weren't false/missed/lost/dropped words/syllabi/meanings/context. 😒🤔

@Brandon Robbins there were 2 parts that I will remember forever, the three kinds of love (which somehow turned into an 8 year vow of celibacy lol) and when Jesus says that it's not what goes into the mouth that defiles a man, but what comes out of it. This has given me the insight I needed to actually apply that to my life. It was much needed, especially at the moment. This episode had the commercial that led me to The Chosen, and I just want to cry thinking about it, all in that one evening I made a vow and took self responsibility where I had justified before. I met Jesus that night. I knew him before ya, but not really.
I still think it's weird that I found your episode before your huge awesome series literally on Jesus. I don't watch TV, I just go on guided RU-vid searches I guess, whatever strikes me as interesting. 🙏🙏🙏
It always cracks me up, when people look up Greek and Hebrew words, and than think that they have a better understanding of how to translate the Bible into our language, better than the hundreds of scholars that not only read all the ancient transcripts, but also read all the secular writings of that time, to figure what context each word was used in, during the time it was written.
You're not open minded enough to listen, though? I do not feel slighted in the least. I've been studying the Bible since 9 years old and really enjoyed it. He said nothing that took away meaning. It all enriched meaning. This video. I cannot vouch for any other. But you could learn the then/than rule to help your writing. Does that change your message you just wrote where you complain to understand this rule? No, it doesn't. Learn just to learn. It won't kill you. You have a filter, apparently. Yes?
@Olympics 1234567, you crack up ? This is neither the time or place to be cracking up amongst serious and even hurting people. Furthermore scholars have much more to do than to make big issues over words or even a single word. Every scholar has an opinion and at times opinions conflict. I find nothing funny or comical about that. Thankfully we have resources that we can reference in debate, debating is an orderly form of argument but much is learned as such debates are not chaotic, arguments are ! A debate about a single word can bring out knowledge of many other areas of scholarly interest and is therefore an opportunity for teaching and learning. I hope you understand the gravity now that I have explained it. Furthermore, the Holy Bible deserves every bit of attention it gets from vast multitudes of people for it is the most important communication from God to man that has ever existed. So while you laugh consider these things. There is far more that you need to consider as well !
@@peterkinberger9741 And meanwhile, while you finesse etymologies, everyone in the pews dials out, as soon as they hear “that never meant what you’ve thought it meant.”
Shabbat shalom Nina - also to Brandon Robbins. Knowing the full meanings of biblical words from the original languages is indeed very important for all who love The Almighty One, so it is good to hear such teachings where others may gain in Hebraic understanding.Thank you Brandon. However, several things mentioned in the video are disappointing which reveal the teachings of man, rather than what The Bible teaches. i.e. Sunday as “the sabbath” This is not biblical, no matter how many NT scriptures can be turned to “suit ones opinion or doctrine”. We all need to be aware that if we love Our Creator we are to keep His commands, including the 4th Command which is setting apart and resting on Shabbat. Sunday was always the first day of the week and placed on only some modern calendars as the 7th day. The Catholic Church freely confesses that Sunday “worship” was established by it, and articles published wherein they are baffled at “Protestants” following their lead and not keeping The Sabbath Day as is the “custom of the Jews” as they put it. (Sadly, there are also many pagan influences remaining in Christianity, including Easter - do the research!). Many Christian brethren are unaware that their Saviour is Jewish (Yeshua Ha Maschiac) and the anglicised name, Jesus is only about 400+ years old. The Bible teaches He came first to The Jews, and then to the nations. We follow the Jewish Messiah, who is spoken of throughout the Tenach, it is not a matter of Jews becoming “Christians”. There is only One who died for our sins at Calvary, who conquered death on our behalf so we may be reconciled to Our True Father and Creator. Whether Jew or of The Nations, we are to be One in Messiah (Yeshua/Yehoshua/ Yahshua…..). True “worship” is obedience ; out of which develops a heart of praise and thanksgiving…..and as it is written, “He dwells in the praises of His people”. Yeshua said “You shall know the Truth and The Truth shall set you free”. He is The Way, The Truth and The Life - and He said “Come, follow Me”. His instructions are found in The full Bible.
I listened, and then listened again to take notes. Thank you for sharing. I especially love the last section on Jesus’ restatement of the Shema. Complete surrender is my goal-this added another layer to my understanding of just what that means...
just a slight correction: 1 Cor. 13 uses the Greek term 'agape' throughout, not 'phileo.' On a side note, C. S. Lewis has a neat little book called "The Four Loves" that is well worth reading.
It's how and why Satan does good things, too. Jesus was sent to show us the truth, even when that truth was considered evil at the time. An honest deity would tell you to protect others. Like wearing a mask during a pandemic. Anyone preaching otherwise is ignoring the right to life for others.
You're right. It was an unfortunate mistake that I couldn't fix by the time I realized what had happened. I corrected it in the description and actually just made an updated, corrected version of this video.
@@KarstenJohansson “protecting others,” can be twisted into anything one person decides is in “everyone else’s best interest,” and disregards the facts of the situation because the “facts,” don’t matter only what the “person” decides is in other’s best interest. A person’s decision often is based on emotions not facts. Those who choose to listen to other’s decisions about what’s in their own best interest neglect to research the situation and therefore follow others decisions without taking the time to research what’s actually in their best interest. Forced compliance to others dictates of what’s in your own best interest is slavery. Blessings to all!!! 😱😱😱😱😱💗💗💗💗💗🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️💕💕💕💕💕
Good information, but in relation to "Is Sunday supposed to be a day of rest or a day of worship?" you quoted the Bible about the Sabbath, which is the seventh day of the week. Sunday is the first day of the week.
Jesus Christ is the Greek, Yeshua Hamasheach is the anglicized Hebrew (Biblical Hebrew has no vowel letters.) Jesus spoke Aramaic, Hebrew, and Greek. Dr. Luke wrote the book of Acts in koine (common) Greek. Greek was written and read from left to right, whereas Hebrew was written and read from right to left.
@Kevin Belgrove Very interesting, thanks for sharing that. Please can you recommend any online where i can obtain copies of the Aramaic & Greek versions of the Bible? They're not available locally. Thank you.
@Kevin Belgrove Funny how you listed none out of the "few hundred differences" scripturaly What Bible are you using? what is your resources? I speak English and have only known English... I believe My Heavenly Father is far more gracious than your portrayal of whether or not the name is correct. His Son died , was buried and rose from the dead only to lose the majority of believers that believe He did it all for them because they didn't get His name correct due to a change??? What a Joke!! He's not willing that any should perish, but just get the wrong name and look out... Sorry but my Savior paid dearly for me regardless of whether or not I use the Greek name or Hebrew name.. He knows and loves us.
@Kevin Belgrove different languages 🧐 Which The Scriptures teaches that God gave at Babel 🧐 Jesus Christ is perfectly fine in English speaking cultures
clicked on the video watched and liked because of no background music thank you! people dont understand how deceptive music can be it plays on your emotions it puts you on a trance where your decisions are temporary based off your emotion.
I have knew Dr. Brant Pitre as one of the most expresser of deeper meaning of The Bible and now I found this video and channel. I have seen many teach and preach and share but you two are the far best in expressing these...
