As someone who's only been working in coffee shops and restaurants since High School, where there was either a set uniform, or very strict dress code, this video is a life saver!

It seems to me you wouldn't want to wear anything in this video to work. The shoes would fill up with sand and dirt. Does your workplace require steel toes? Most do. Normally maybe something more durable for the pants because these would rip the first time you kneel down for anything. Also if you wear these tops make sure you have a heavy jacket if you are going to be welding or using the cutting torch at all. Or deliberately burn holes so that your company upgrades to carhearts (I'd never do that wink wink). Also, does any part of your job involve applying pesticide or herbacide? Because if it does you want to look up state regs. Those differ state to state. Good luck out there I hope this was helpful.

Yessss you’re back! Could you do workwear for specific body shapes in the near future? I am an apple shape (and I hide it well) but when it comes to pencil skirts and some sheath dresses and all manner of tucking in, it highlights my stomach, the one part of my body that is the worst. Apple shapes don’t have a great defined waist either. I’m sure every shape has its problems, but I feel like all workwear is especially trying if your stomach is your problem area!

I was thinking the same thing. Those styles are fantastic if you are blessed with a svelte body, but curvy girls and pencil skirts are not a match made in heaven.

I recommend peplum waists with pants/skirts that are looser around/below the hip to balance out the shape, plus it is more comfortable around the stomach and hides any wrinkles. 100% recommend belts/comfortably fitted high waisted skirts and pants to help take attention away from your stomach and make your figure appear more balanced. For necklines, something that is closer to the neck and brings attention to your face helps to hide the wider upper torso/balance lower torso, or if you have something like a peplum you can get away with wider or more square necklines to give a more hourglass appearing figure. Hopes this helps!

This is such a much needed video for me. I’ve been at my job 3 years and no longer have the clothes I bought when I first started (put on some weight & no longer liked the styles). Lately I feel super frumpy and very unprofessional with my wardrobe so I’m going out shopping this weekend to buy some essentials, and this helped identify what those key pieces should be. I really like the trouser but i find it really hard with shoes. I live in Norway and it is really cold here in fall/winter/spring time.. i see you pair it with pumps but that is not my style and also too cold. I need to wear the trousers with no bare ankles, do you have any suggestions?? I find that it doesent look good without bare ankles..

I'm with Aspa Antonop, either Chelsea boots or boots with a tight slim silhouette around the ankle would work. You could also do opaque or semi-sheer black hose under the trousers with heels or boots and not look crazy. And if you do that Scandinavian sneakers + suit thing, you could wear longer trousers and cuff them when you get inside, or scoot your socks up and down. Edited to add: or, if pumps and bare ankles feel ok inside, you could wear outside winter boots to work and then change.

I would wear some shapewear! Pencil skirts tend to accentuate the belly, and can even make it look bigger than it is, so wearing some shapewear to compress the belly comfortably is perfect.

Most people have a little tummy.😂 You would have to eat zero grams of sugar and 500 calories a day to bot have any. You could eliminate it somewhat by doing strength training + cardio + cutting out most sugar.

Any suggestions for a pear shaped body? I carry most of my weight in my lower tummy, butt, and thighs and pencil skirts and sheath dresses do not flatter me at all. Are more A-line/Fit-and-flare dresses appropriate for the office or are they a little too romantic?

Kelsey Ogden I think you can get away with a fit-and-flare dress as long as it either has an understated/subtle print or a solid color. The type of material also matters.

As a fellow pear shaped lady, this has been a struggle for me for years when it comes to work clothes. I found most styles readily available only really flatter women with very little shape - straight leg pants and pencil skirts are the top 2 things I would LOVE to wear but they just don’t flatter me. I gravitate heavily to A-line dresses or skirts with a very wide waist band. I pull them up to where an A-line would hit on the waist, and making sure it’s a skirt with a tiny bit of flair. I don’t like drawing attention to my hips or tummy, so flowy blouses and a slim leg trouser look good, too.

1. White Button-Down (Oxford) Shirt 2. Fitted T-Shirt (Short/Long Sleeves, Plain or Stripes) 3. Simple Sweater (Cashmere if you can afford it) 4. Clean-Cut Cami or Loose and Breezy Blouse 5. Straight-Leg Trousers 6. Pencil Skirt (which you could match to the Blazer) 7. Blazer (to match Trousers) 8. Cardigan (Cropped&Fitted or Long&Loose) 9. Professional Dress (Sheath or Wrap styles are best)

What do women need for work wear, really? Here's what: skirt or dress, simple old-school medium or low heels, *and sheer natural-tone or suntan hosiery* (still!!). Just like the 1960s thru the early-mid 1990s. Little if anything else. The 'old school' look (still) rules !!!

My biggest issue is shoes. I physically can’t wear the normal professional heels (which ironically throughout childhood they were the 1 thing I always wanted to wear 🤦🏼‍♀️) and even the moccasin-type shoes just fall right off my narrow feet. Starting my first job in a month and I have no shoes to wear (and retail is still shut here)

What? (In response to the white buttoned shirt) No short sleeves? Edit: Also, I think it's cool that white buttoned shirts are acceptable in the workplace. I used to wear them as part of my uniform when I was in Primary and High school.
