ssandroAle gesBor Blackburn were only up there in the first place because of Jack Walker’s money. You’re looking at that one the wrong way around. Same with Wigan and Fulham to an extent, and Pompey just got themselves in absurd levels of debt. All small clubs
That deal was meant to insult Eto'o but unfortunately for Pep Eto'o is a uniquely gifted and formidable player who can play in different wings and leagues. That worked to his advantage. As legend would have it Eto'o's team would beat and eliminate Pep's team to win the ECL.
@dont let me down Pep just didn't like him. That happens in football a lot unfortunately, a manager just won't like a player and doesn't play him, of course a player the caliber of Eto'o just can't be put on the bench so they eventually ditched him
Fabio Cannavaro from Inter to Juventus in 2005 for their 3rd choice goalkeeper Fabian Carini in a straight swap deal has gotta be the worst one that I've ever seen.... Cannavaro on to win the Scudetto, the World Cup as captain and win FIFA World Player of the Year in 2006, insane from Inter.
ibra was a god in barca it was the trainer who was stupid and wanted messi because they tought he was their kid then ibra changed club because he was angry
Albert Guerrero i don’t know about one trick pony but he’s a striker, for sure. Pep knew that when he signed him. When zlatan played he was very good. Pep is to blame for everything
you clearly have no idea about football if you think Neymar is overrated. his price tag is a reflection of the inflation of football prices not his value as a player, he is the 3rd best footballer in the world currently. He has almost a goal a game for PSG, say what you want about the french league but he contributed to almost goal a game at Barcelona and contributes to a goal a game in champions league.
with the benefit of hindsight, i'm not convinced that Neymar's release clause is bad business. Barca got Dembele, Coutinho and possibly Greizmann in the summer and have only lost once in all competitions this season. Meanwhile Neymar is fighting with everyone in France and they are very likely going to lose their CL hopes in a couple weeks.
Jonathan2342 but many consider the price barca then paid for Dembele to be an even bigger waste. And if they do get griezman then Dembele is going to be next seasons deulofeu and not get many games
Selling Keane was actually a worse decision, because Torres had an injury crisis and Liverpool didn't have anybody to replace him, that partially cost them the league title
Robbie Keane was very, very, VERY over rated. A footballing outlier that shows that, sometimes at least, that statistics are the most unreliable indicator. Going forward he always passed the ball to behind his assisting player, that was usually in a much better position to score, forcing that player to slow down or stop to collect the ball and hence allowing Keane time to become the better positioned player and thus his opportunity to get on the scoresheet. He not only used this cheap self glorification routine at club level but used the same under handed trick to boost his national team record. Ireland missed out on progress in so many tournaments because of Robbie Keanes tactics. Roy Keane fcuked Ireland also at one point. Maybe they're cousins?? Only team players do great at Liverpool thats why Gerrard is a legend and Keane is an absolute tool. Robbie Keane I'm not impressed.
10 0:08 Eto for Zlatan 9. 1:18 8 more years for Pardew 8. 2:25 Liverpool and Rob Keane 7. 3:28 Fulham, Magath, Mitroglou 6. 4:46 G Reina's houses 5. 5:50 Blackpool 4. 7:01 Venky's buy Blackburn 3. 8:06 Denilson 2. 9:04 Thiago and Neymar 1 10:12 Aleksandr Kokorin
What will they do with the money!? They lost the second or third best player in the world and their future talisman once Messi retires All they can do with that money is sign good players like Dembele and Coutinho but they are no Neymar
Yeah. The release clause unlike with. Thiago, wasn't small at all. The earlier summer Pogba went for 100 million and Neymar's was literally double that. And they got huge amount of money and the best of all, Barcelona are top of the league.
#6 That one is just sad and hilarious at the same time. LEGO HOUSES??? For real??? HAHAHAHAHAHA Even the narrator almost cracked a laugh whilst reading it :D
exactly inter won the league with zlatan but when they gave it to barca eto helped and won the Ucl beating barca I'm the semis they inter team was mostly of players who were sold and were rejects it's crazy how robben and sneijder 2 players who were sold met each other the next year in the ucl
@mPky1 Let me correct the grammar for you *My comment is applied to all languages. Go read a newspaper or encyclopedia etc, it establishes the person or a place with a name etc, before using "he", "she", and "thing" etc.
best business in football history is Ronaldo to Madrid for 80m and selling him for 90m after 1league titile, 4 champions leagues and a thousand goals. Brilliant!
Guys you must understand that for a club like Barcelona 220m in one way or the other is pocket money, they will not be over the moon for receiving this cash, they are not Monaco or Athletic Bilbao for which such cash would mean a few years of existence . Neymar was supposed to be their star player for many many years, and they put 220m as a buyout clause precisely because they thought nobody ever will be willing to pay it. They never wanted to lose him. Maybe in a long run it will turn out to be a good business and players like Coutinho, Dembele, Malcom will be able to fill the hole in quality left after Neymars departure but it's still a maybe. With Neymar they had the best offensive trio in the world. They had it. Now they don't.
Cork city in Ireland used to be the best team in Ireland with amazing players.they sold all the good players and replaced them with players that were only ok. They then narrowly escaped relegation the next year after coming second
No2. Tell us how that worked out???? Barcelona are stronger then ever, neymar just got injured for months. Lol and we used the money to buy coutinho and dembele. Noe how is this a bad deal?
Thiago has not lived up to expectations in Bayern due to being an injury ridden player, though I'd agree that his release clause depending on playtime was not the smartest thing. Neymar....honestly is gone and well gone given his antics, character, and diva attitude. he's a superlative player but current Barcelona form seems to point out that they're not missing him. And to be fair, honest, and square, only 9 months ago nobody in planet football would've believed anyone would splash 230 million in a transfer fee, so his clause was widely aknowledged as more than enough to protect him from other club's interests, so one can hardly blame anyone for his clause being "too low". Also, being the first one that would like a player of his talent in my team (not a player of his personality, though): 230 million in the bank which have largely financed Coutinho and Dembele's transfers, and the team in top form even without any real input from those two yet, means that it was not that bad of a business, and certainly not the 2nd worst in any list.
Liverpool shouldn’t have spent that much on Keane, but clawing back 12mn for him was genius. He was done at that point and was abysmal during his second spell at Tottenham
Alexis Sanchez, Arsenal to Man U tops all of them. He is on 490,000 pounds a week (including yearly signing on fees and bonuses) and he has a 5 year contract. His form is so bad that he's never picked in the starting line up. Over 5 years he will make 82 million pounds, to take this number into context Utd's revenue is around 135 million per quarter year.
Actually 220m for Neymar was good business, the bad business was their ridiculous 'we have to spend it NOW!' attitude where they massively overpayed for multiple good players, instead of putting that money towards one 'great' player.
I think number 1 should be PSG's £1.3Bn spending over 8 years including buying Neymar for 220m... They were doing better before they bought Neymar, and no matter how much money they spend they just can't get past the semi-finals. They even lost the French Cup to Rennes, with their former player Hatem Ben Arfa (who they had spent millions on just to make him play in the Reserves for years) starring for Rennes in that match. In a way Ben Arfa is still being paid by Paris, who had their Neymar + MBappé strikeforce on the pitch for £400m of transfer money... This is just the worst managed club in history. They had done similar ridiculously poor performances when they bought Anelka from Real Madrid, to have him play with Ronaldinho and a few great French youngsters, only to finish in the bottom half of the French Ligue 1. They really should get an award...
220m for Neymar sounds like a great business deal for me . If Neymar wanted to stay , great you keep a great player ! If not , they got rid of a player that didn't want to play for them anymore plus 220m to buy another great player that will want to play for Barce (Coutinho) . It's a win win !
I don't think Neymar leaving really hurt us? We got Coutinio(will still give him time) and Dembele(who has been awesome and also much younger than Neymar) out of it and are having a great season with the way Messi has been playing and Suarez back in top form. Meanwhile PSG are out of the champions league and Neymar is stuck in injury for most of the season.
I find the Robbie Keane/Liverpool history bewildering. Somehow they seem to be blaming Benitez for Keane's failure. Keane was garbage at Liverpool. Then saying Benitez was gone 8 months etc....No mention the club was under Hicks/Gillet and nearly went into administration. FFS!
you forgot newcastle paying a then club record fee for michael owen from real madrid only to get injured on international duty and not play for a full season nearly while being paid the most money of anyone on the staff list.
“Success with celtic” Could’ve sworn Kevin Thomson reduced him to tears at Ibrox and finished 2nd in the league whilst getting his manager the sack... That’s not what success is
Keanes 7 in goals in 28 appearances doesnt sound like the one of the worst returns in history especially not if he was being played as a bit part winger
