I recently watched Ricky Steamboat's biography. He said he never asked to lose belt. He asked for two weeks off. They said yes but later said he has to drop the title since they needed the belt defended on house shows. Ricky was pissed and changed his 2 week request to a couple of months.

Although Eddie Guerrero was appreciated in his time, he is even more so today. It's understandable that the ratings took a dive after Brock left the promotion in 2004, but it certainly was not Eddie's fault. Eddie was a flawed but honorable man, and one of the greatest professional wrestlers ever.

Apparently Asuka didn't know she was getting the belt instead of the case until Becky told her on TV. Her reaction is candid and totally broke kayfabe.

I’ve always seen similarities between Eddie Guerrero in 2004 and Shawn Michaels in 1996 in that they were pretty much set up to fail drawing wise. Shawn had to deal with Scott Hall and Kevin Nash leaving as well as Bret Hart leaving for 6 months added to WCW kickstarting The nWo angle. Eddie saw Brock Lesnar leave, SmackDown lose a lot of top stars to Raw during the draft and then Undertaker become more part time.

BRUNO SAMMARTINO held the title for nearly 8 straight years. he told VINCE SENIOR he was dropping the title not asking to drop it. that's how much power he had. none of the other wrestlers mentioned in this video had that kind of power.

HBK yelled to win European title... and he lost it a jokingly way a few months after... He was such a Diva by the time.

i'll be honest, as fucked up as HBK's political power backstage was at the time, that HBK vs HHH European Title "match" is still one of the funniest things ive ever seen in wrestling and absolutely DOES make sense with the DX gimmick. like, in kayfabe, of COURSE they were gonna have a plan to get the last laugh on Sgt. Slaughter, it made sense lmao

I don't buy that Eddie struggled being champion. He did, according to JBL, and Layfield offered to relieve him of the burden by being champion instead, I think Layfield conned Eddie into dropping the belt to him.
